Though, who is the current pilot (circa 3050) of the Katana Kat?

Or they would have to make up a younger member of the Tetsuhara family (or a family friend) to fill the role.

Thoughts?

This is highly probable, but considering that not all Hero 'mechs are created from per-existing sources I don't think it'd be an issue. Could be from the Tesuhara family, or they could make up their own Panther...there's plenty of room there for creativity!

Panther would be awful in this game, so please, no. If we are getting crappy slow light mechs, make it an Urbie.

I'm loving my new D-DC for brawling. Here's my setup...

STD 300
DHS 14
2 x Ultra AC/5 (7 tons ammo)
3 x SRM6 w/ Artemis (3 tons ammo)
2 x ML
ECM
AMS (1 ton ammo)

The only drawback to this build is I need alot of UAC/5 ammo (I take away some armor from the legs to get extra tonnage). I'm pretty successful with this build and doing around 400-600 damage per match. Thoughts?

Brawling with a 300 engine sucks, even more considering the ridicolous reach of the SRMs, you need more speed. But this ain't a thread where to talk about current mechs builds, we should talk about new or presumed incoming mechs and eventually speak about their builds :P

My best brawler is an Atlas D-DC.

STD Engine 340
3x SRM6
1x AC/20
2x Medium Lasers
ECM

That's a monster that can give 1K damage, killing every mech in the way.

We have now seen the Atlas, Catapult, Hunchbak, Jenner, Dragon, and Commando in action. So I guess the Centurion is probably in as well, but I don't think we've seen that one yet. Can't wait to see the Awesome.

I bet you're regretting that now.

Given that balance changes and 'mechs get looked at and modified (hitboxes/etc) the Awesome can still become...awesome. They aren't right now, but it's not like everyone always loved Spiders before the more recent changes.

Hardpoint sizing would make them... Awesome.

(as suggested here)

(and yes, I'm shamelessly self-promoting again)

I don't know. I read that statement but it's so convoluted that it could mean anything. It says specifically that size (for the Kintaro though) will remain the same, which is still a problem for a lot of medium/heavies.

I doubt they will resize any mech... too much work. :P

And we were supposed to be getting 2 mechs per month at this point. I'd rather they skip one or two mechs to bring the other mechs in line, but they won't do that.

I tear up the battlefield in my Awesome. Now I won't say they don't need work because the obviously do. The mech can easily use some liposuction to make him less wide and a hit box revamp. But it's not a bad mech by any means. These are the builds I currently run or would use if I owned the variant.

AWS-8V
3x LL
1x ML
2x SRM4
1x SRM6
400 Rounds SRM Ammo
1x C.A.S.E.
STD 300 Engine
480/494 armor
Endo-Steel
17 DHS
59.5% Heat Efficiency

AWS-9M
3xLL
1xPPC/ERPPC
STD 300 Engine
18 DHS
494/494 Armor
64% Heat Efficiency

AWS-8T
4x ML
2x LRM15 + Artemis
1x TAG
1080 LRM Ammo
2x C.A.S.E.
STD 275 Engine
16 DHS
67.5% Heat Efficiency
B.A.P.

AWS-8Q (version 2)
3x LL
3x ML
1x MPL
STD 300 Engine
22 DHS
40% Heat Efficiency
480/494 Armor

AWS-8R
3x ML
2x SRM6
2x LRM10
3 Tons LRM Ammo
3 Tons SRM Ammo
2x C.A.S.E.
STD 300 Engine
16 DHS
39% Heat Efficiency
480/494 Armor

But I will admit. It's definitely got it's issues. But when you learn how to play them they're not bad at all. Especially now with the SRM buff they're alot more viable.

Those builds are horrible and you didn't even list the one good exclusive Awesome build (8R LRM boat) . Also don't prove anything. The Awesome could have the best hardpoints ever, but it would still be the worst assault/heavy because of it's hitboxes (I have 3 FYI).

So let's see

Lights (6)
Flea
Locust
Commando
Spider
Jenner
Raven

Mediums (8)
Cicada
Blackjack
Hunchback
Trebuchet
Centurion
Kintaro
Shadow Hawk
Wolverine

Heavies (7)
Dragon
Quickdraw
Catapult
Thunder Bolt
Jagermech
Cataphract
Orion

Assaults (6)
Awesome
Victor
Stalker
Battlemaster
Highlander
Atlas

So we all firmly believe the Banshees gonna make it. With the medium roster "filled out" at the moment the question really is, what will be the final Heavy, Assault (since we figure the Banshee will be one of the final 2) and 2 lights be?

Let us get back on topic! BEGIN!

Looking at TRO 3039, I believe PGI will add the following:

Lights
Firestarter
Javelin

Heavies
Lancelot

Assaults
Banshee
Cyclops

Unfortunately, the UrbanMech will not make it. :P

FTFY.

Also what is this talk of FINAL? Did I miss an announcement somewhere that no further IS mechs are being added? Seems silly and shortsighted. One reason for the 2 a month will be because they need to release one CLAN and one INNER SPHERE design to keep people interested, as many of us have ZERO interest in Clan garbage.

And there are PLENTY of designs still to choose from. So I don't agree with the "final" we have to have 8 of each stuff. There should be more Mediums than other classes. Mediums are the most common Mech in Battletech/Mechwarrior. And we have some GREAT chassis to choose from, with with ways to fill in missing variants, if they so choose. Vulcan, Assassin, Vindicator, Enforcer, Dervish. Crab. Heck if they get creative we could still see the Griffin and most importantly, the best medium of all, the Phoenix Hawk.

You lost me here. I like the same number for all weight classes.
