Reminds me of the Dire Wolf. Any inspiration from it? Funny thing is I have yet to buy an Atlas due to it being just too slow, bulky, and humanoid for my tastes but that design I would pay $ for in a heartbeat. Honestly somebody needs to sit down with Russ and explain that we need more diverse mechs and I do not mean hardpoints. 20 mechs and all but 5 are boxy humanoid style legs.

Edit: If they did add this mech into the game, it would be cool if they implemented claws that opened and closed to protect the weapons like the CATs and some others do with the bay doors.

that's the design concept, claws are armored covers that open when in use, close for transport and melee. I actually used elements of the DireWolf and the Cataphract (MWO style). And then added bits and pieces from the Stalker and Centurion from the game. That said, it didn't come alive til Kiriage did this render. Man did an amazing job.

He definitely has some real talent and again love the mech, especially the claws and missile pod on the left shoulder.

I did an analysis for the #20 mech:
Posted Image
The (+X) indicate suggested additional hardpoints.
The variants in italic are iffy variants that maybe should not get into the game.
And sure, the number of modules is just a guess (made to balance the variants).

Iffy variants:
- Banshee BNC-3Q, with all (ballistic) hardpoints concentrated in one torso would be probably awful.
- Zeus ZEU-6Y has one experimental weapon (Binary Laser Cannon), so it will only be in the game if the weapon is added.
- Charger CRG-1L and CGR-SB have the same all-energy loadout as the CGR-1A1 and should probably be left out.
- Cyclops CP-10-HQ has actually a Collapsible Command Console. This equipment could be replaced by a standard Command Console, but the mech would have some spare tonnage. The variant could be replaced by the more common and less problematic CP-10-A-DC.
- Hatamoto HTM-27T is too similar to the HTM27U - a reason for not having it.

EDIT: updated table.

So, looking at this, what mech would you prefer?

I don't find the Banshee useless or "the same". Look at the variants: even the bad variants could be interesting if the hardpoints are inflated.

PS: in MWO, the bigger the stock engine, the better.

Well, let's look at what variants the Zeus could have available (based on timeline and tech appropriateness):
  • ZEU-5T: x1 ERPPC (LA), x1 ERLL (LT), x2 MLas (LT, CT), Artemis-LRM-15 (RA); FF and DHS
  • ZEU-5S: x1 UAC/5 (LA), x1 ERLL (LT), x2 MLas (LT, CT), Artemis-LRM-15 (RA); DHS
  • ZEU-6S: x1 AC/5 (LA), x1 LLas (LT), x2 MLas (LT, CT), LRM-15 (RA)
  • ZEU-6T: x1 PPC (LA), x1 LL (LT), x2 MLas (LT, CT), LRM-15 (RA)
  • ZEU-9S: x1 ERPPC (LA), x1 ERLL (LT), x2 MPLas (LT, CT), CASE (RT), LRM-15 (RA); FF and DHS
  • ZEU-9S-DC: x1 ERPPC (LA), x1 ERLL (LT), x2 MPLas (LT, CT), Command Console (HD), CASE (RT), LRM-15 (RA); FF and DHS
All variant mass 80 tons and have a top speed of 64.8 kph.

None of the variants are jump-capable, nor do they normally mount AMS, BAP, or ECM.
Though, the latter is unlikely to affect the ability to equip AMS or BAP, and the existence of a two -DC variants (the 9S-DC linked above, and the ZEU-6S-DC variant that sacrifices one of the Medium Lasers) could indicate the possibility of an ECM-capable variant.

Acording to the record sheets in RS:3039U (pgs. 249-252 of the 500-page PDF), none of the ZEU-5T, ZEU-5S, ZEU-6S, or ZEU-6T variants possess Hand Actuators, though all possess Lower Arm Actuators in both arms.

If the Zeus were to be implemented in MWO, I would imagine that it would be the ZEU-6S and/or ZEU-6S-DC (the "basic"/"default" variant), the ZEU-9S and/or ZEU-9S-DC ("the 3050 variant(s)"), and the ZEU-6T that would be implemented.

The -5S could be easily built from the minimum required hardpoints of the -6S (with the latter being the most common variant), and the -5T could be easily built from the minimum required hardpoints of both the -6T (the other Succession Wars variant) and the -9S (the "recovered LosTech" variant).
Moreover, the -9S could be easily built from the -9S-DC & vice versa (by removing/adding the Command Console and adding/removing a DHS).

Your thoughts?

Woah woah! All I am sayin' that there outta be other mechs before the Zeus, never said it should not be added haha

One question for the loremasters: is the Banshee BNC-5S available in the current timeline (3050)?

(some sources say production date of 3048, some 3050 and others 3053...)

Well, the original TRO 3050 (as opposed to the Revised or Upgrade editions) states (on page 204), "Though unlikely to begin production for at least two years, the BNC-5S model is promising".

Coupled with the fact that the MUL gives the date as 3053, this would imply that 3053 is in fact the correct date.

While I was thinking about the
Hatchetman

... is there hope that things like the Hatchet can be used in the future?
