Lets talk about heroes!

Here are the mechs without hero variants and possible canonical heroes:

Light:
- UrbanMech (?)
- Panther (Minobu Tetsuhara's "Katana Kat")
- Wolfhound (Phelan Kell's "Grinner")

Medium:
- Enforcer (Daniel Waylen's mech)
- Crab (?)

Heavy:
- Grasshopper (all listed in Sarna are outside the timeline)
- Black Knight (heroes lited in Sarna use hatchet and TSM)

Assault:
- Zeus (unfortunatelly, the "Leonidas" is a little out of the timeline - but Frederick or Nondi Steiner's mechs would do)
- Mauler (?)
- King Crab ('King' Hopper Morrison's mech)

Any of the loremasters can add more candidates to the list?

PS: I don't understand why PGI doesn't release 1 hero mech each month. It's easy (easier) money.

For the Grasshopper: the personal 'Mech of Tor Miraborg
"Överste-Löjtnant Tor Miraborg: In charge of many of the small unit operations ordered to hunt down the ronin resistance groups fighting throughout the Free Rasalhague Republic, Tor and his Grasshopper not only led the attacks, but also served as the rear guard when retreating. Tor has been injured twice in combat, suffering light wounds when witnesses thought he should have been killed. The Överste-Löjtnant credits his well-designed Grasshopper for his survival."
(TRO 3039, pg. 150)

For the Zeus: "Skokomish", the personal 'Mech of the MechWarrior known as "Sealth"
"MechWarrior Sealth: After his homeworld of Zavijava was attacked, Sealth left a conclave of people all descended from Native North Americans to join the Tenth Skye Rangers to help defend his people. An amazingly graceful MechWarrior, Sealth could move his Zeus as if it were a ’Mech half its weight, making it a difficult target. In the Fourth Succession War he would flank formations, hitting and dodging. While the enemy was distracted by him, the rest of his unit would hit the enemy head on. After the fighting ended, Sealth retired back to Zavijava, taking his forest-green Zeus, Skokomish, with him."
(TRO 3039, pg. 160)

For the Black Knight: the personal 'Mech of Mordon Greensburg
"Colonel Mordon Greenburg: After serving ten years in the Marik Militia, Greenburg left military service and made a name for himself as a combat correspondent, and his coverage of the final years of the Third Succession War made him a household name across the Inner Sphere. In 3027 Greenburg approached his Tharkad Broadcast Company producer with an idea for a documentary series covering the day-to-day lives of a mercenary unit. Thus was born a successful holovid show known as 'Greenburg’s Godzillas'. When network executives canned the show at the outbreak of the Fourth Succession War, Mordon Greenburg chose to remain with the 'cast'.
Exotic by nature of its rarity, Greenburg’s Black Knight is the perfect ride for a holovid star. A relic of his ten years service in the Twenty-third Marik Militia, studio backing restored the ’Mech to its current good condition."
(TRO 3039, pg. 270)

For the King Crab: the personal 'Mech of Corinth Brody
"Corinth Brody: President of the Nightwatch security company, Brody is one of the few independent owners still in possession of a rare KGC-000 King Crab. Its origins remain a mystery; it is rumored by other members of the firm that Brody’s grandfather actually struck it rich lostech prospecting on Caph during the Third Succession War. The Nightwatch usually hire out only as corporate security; the unit has been under contract to Sekkaris Metalworks on Terra since 3038."
(TRO 3039, pg. 278)

For the Mauler: the personal 'Mech of Zachary Miles Hawkins (the character from the BattleTech animated series Posted Image )

For the UrbanMech: Deputy Dawg, retconned as the family 'Mech of Patricia Wellseley (TRO 3039, pg. 108) and her grandson, Paul Wellseley (TRO 3050 Upgrade, pg. 22) Posted Image

There doesn't seem to be much going for the Crab, though.

Nice find on GHR-T "Tor" :)

You've got my vote. Structure quirks would seem to fit the backstory.

An extra tanky Grasshopper could be neat.

Amazing stuff, Strum! All of these would be excellent for MWO.

So, the hero Grasshopper could be called... Mjölnir? Posted Image

I forgot that Zeus. It would be awesome to see a Zeus with tribal camo.

PS: I didn't know the Deputy Dawg was canon! Cool! Is it really?

well, if anyone can get the Deputy squeezed in as a hero, I have faith in your abilities.

The Deputy Dog needs to happen!

If haters gonna hate on me as an Urbie pilot anyway, I might as well be hated in style :).

Well, not just thinking of me and my DAWG, but of community supporters in general. This is not cannon Btech. So it would hurt nothing, but I think it would be nice to recognize some of the folks (and there are a lot beside myself) who spend a huge amount of time promoting and supporting the community. A BEEF Hero, I think would also be appropriate. Mind you, it would mean a second Atlas Hero, and to celebrate the beef, it would have to be UTTERLY ridiculous.... but I think it should happen.

But I will allow myself some ego and say that as "fan designs" go, my old Deputy has garnered quite a following. More than I honestly ever thought it would (especially since it started as a bit of a joke), that's for sure.

(i'd say Sean Lang, but being on staff now, might make that more problematic) and many others.

Would also love, to see some contests for "fan base redesigns" to be submitted, then the winners Alex brings to life, etc.

ONe thing I think the best gaming communities do, is acknowledge and really try to make the community a part of the game.

Good call to retcon the Urbie into lore-based situation. I mean, if you've got named pilots, why not have fun with some backstory?

Kodiak is coming!!!
In Classic mech (standalone) pack. With hero! Hero with MASC. Concept art soon. \o/

And another IS "classic" mech after. Now this is interesting. Which mech is it?
  • Bushwacker! (one of the few IS mechs there are people out there willing to buy as standalone)
  • Phoenix Hawk? (if yes, there will be no unseen medium mech for a "Project Phoenix II")
  • Marauder II? (too soon because we got the Marauder recently?)
  • Flea? (finally?)
  • Crusader? (but one more heavy unseen?)
  • Ostroc? (OK, that's a long shot)
  • Wasp? Stinger? Valkyrie? (because we have so many unseen lights)
  • EDIT: Longbow? (and save the Marauder II for the Project Phoenix II top tier)

I just hope that Hero Kodiak has 1B hardpoint in each ST and at least 1E in each arm.

The Ostroc would be a good idea. An Ost-Mech pack is not really attractive as Ostsol and Ostroc are too similar and the Ostscout would not be terribly useful. And the Ostroc is the most versatile of them, sports the biggest number of variants, and has a nice Hero waiting: Sainted Jerome Blake (yes, I know, canon rumour and most likely false, but still...).

And the original TRO:3025 said it was no taller than the UrbanMech. Posted Image

But another missile boat just after the Archer?

Fair point, but you could make the argument that a Marauder II, this close after the Marauder would be silly...

I'm hopeful that it'll be the Phoenix Hawk, Stinger/Wasp...

Give me my Phoenix Hawk and nobody gets hurt.

No, really. I probably won't be able to hurt anyone because I'm a bad pilot, so just gimme my Phoenix Hawk. It's your best interest, all of you.
