"mass popularity" is meaningless... do we really need Justin Beiber, Katy Perry, etc for MWO?

We should totally get Kanye West, auto tuned bitching betty!

I'm not a fan of democracy... it's over rated, and it takes too long for anything to get done, too many committees... Besides it's not like the masses really have any say as to what goes on in a democracy. Only the groups with the deepest pockets get any say. If I'm going to have to listen to a bunch of... questionable examples of humanity, why do I need the illusion of having any say in the matter.... for that reason I don't mind the Cappellan way of doing things, you have to earn your right to citizenship.

and don't forget people as a whole are stupid, short sighted and rarely as informed as they like to think...so most people make really stupid choices when given the chance.

Mass popularity got you the Urbanmech.

Did it? I'd call it more the hipster choice. After all it literally ticked off NONE of the boxes that make things mass popular. Unless you mean dolling it up as a cop car got enough people's "cute" factor fired up....

This is not about democracy, this is about free market. When PGI releases a mech the majority is asking for, they are doing the right thing (in the commercial sense).

I know you guys are burned by recent elections (here in Brazil elections are much worse, believe me), but there is no such thing as an enlightened dictatorship. If the democracy is getting dumb results, you need to change the dumb majority, not the democracy.

And I will end up with this classical piece of junk work.

The Urbanmech is one of the most refreshing mechs to play in this game.

Quite the opposite. I just mentioned it as a positive of mass popularity, as the old "GIVE US URBIE!" postfests would support.

I think here they are called Stuka's....

edit:
On an aside note, if X-wing miniatures ever get the XG-1, I'll have to start playing it... I'm very tempted now that they have the ARC-170's...

It's a great game, specially if you are a casual.

For the Gunboat, you can play with the unofficial version... Posted Image

Makes me want to go post in the Urbie thread right now.

Should I post about a trial Urbie, or the Urbie IIC?

Both?

Urbie IIC. How can we have the epic battle of all epic FW battles if we can't do Urbie vs Urbie?

One of the few mechs I'm waiting for now is the Stalking Spider.

I don't think the Hollander ticks any of those boxes and it's leading by a lot.

The Osiris had less votes than the Hollander, and why would the Osiris be less well known? Even if we limit us to previous video games (which is bone-headed and ignorant to say the very least), there are other options. The Hollander was in MC2, I get it, so was the Razorback e.g.; it was even the same campaign. And those people who know the Hollander from TT certainly know of much better options too.

I don't think being known is the prime reason why the Hollander is voted for.

It certainly wasn't for MWO viability with regards to MWO's game mechanics....

Considering the Hollander is a walking mini-Hunchback, anyway. It's that distinctive Gaussphallus that apparently gets all the attention.

Pretty much this. Ppl think "oh big gun cool!" But it's just a model and would make it beyond terrible or they wouldn't get the big gun and it'd still be terrible.
