Besides, the art they showed us depicts the AS7-K variant, and not the AS7-D (DeChavilier) variant, thus Kuritan.

I don't think so - the Atlas shown is most likely the base AS7-D seeing as how it sports medium lasers in the arms (green) and an SRM on the left torso. The AS7-K has large lasers in the arms (considering small lasers are red it stands to reason large lasers are not green) and the SRM is replaced by an anti-missile system. This does not match up with the art. Add in that the rest of the art is of the base TRO 3025 models and it stands to reason that the Atlas in the artwork is indeed a AS7-D.

AS7-K:

Notice the split LRM-20 launcher, and the unused SRM-6 launcher's casing.
Comparing that with this:

And the AS7-D:

I know the visuals look more like the 3050 version, but the weapons load matches the original AS7-D. The K version does not have an SRM 6 nor does it have medium lasers in the arms.

BattleTech fiction describes lasers in a bunch of different colors, some large lasers are described as being green, some are described as being red - pretty much the only color they haven't been described as in the fiction is blue, which is ironically the color they were in MW2.

True, but in the concept art for MWO at least - medium lasers appear to have green lenses (based on all the mechs so far), and small lasers appear to have red lenses (based on the Hunchback). We have yet to see a design that utilizes large lasers but it's reasonable to assume they will be yet another color.

Not saying that's how they will appear in the actual game, but that's how it seems the artist is representing them in his concepts.

Your right, all the concept art for the lasers besides the head mounted small on the Hunchie have been green lenses. Good eye.

This is why we can't not have nice things.

Mixed feelings, I don't like that "nose" of the Dragon from final artwork. That little black/white dragon concept art in upper left corner looks so much better with its "nose". I also don't like how this big gun is attached so directly into mech(that laser instead of right arm). Maybe in game it will look differently, would liek to see some in game model eventually.

I think paul did a great job on this Dragon model but i have to ask if we do not get a 3D Outside view whats the point of showing these to us?

Because, more than likely, you're going to see them on the battlefield, because other people will be piloting them, and you will be shooting at each other.

Also, people are talking about the right arm--the autocannon arm. Almost every picture I've seen of the Dragon has that arm fixed, with no elbow or wrist or shoulder--just a pivoting arm cannon.

Anyone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that's the correct coloration (as per fiction, canon?). I remember hearing that MW3 got the laser colors backwards.

The AS7-K *does* have the SRM housing, its just empty.
As for the lasers, who's to say they ain't large lasers?

Okay - where is the AMS system? As for the lasers - see post #226 above.

*shrug*
You don't see it on the pictures of the AS7-K either.
But seeing the concept art, I wouldn't be surprised if they moved it to the head to the hole above the "nose".

Oh, come on - everyone knows the art does not always match the record sheet.

Has anyone else noticed that Alex has front mounted the torso lasers on both the Atlas and Dragon that are supposed to be rear mounted?

Yes, and i think it was intentional.
Implementing rear facing lasers efectively ingame would be technicaly hard.

Butt lasers are for cowards, i wont miss them eheh ;)

Nova Cat??
The mech on the left side is a Strormcrow...

And it's a Clan Smoke Jaguar vs Draconis Combine, not Clan Nova Cat.

The Dragon,

This was always a bullet magnet, as for a 60 ton mech, its split weapon systems, mixed primary range and dismal damage out put left it as nothing more then a walking target. Though I do remember a version with a PPC, now that actually hurt if you got hit.. shame about the heat sinks..
