A Tale Of Two Mediums (It Dont Make Sense)

One, a ******* child no one wants, the other, the cabin boy of clan drops in CW
5 MPL SCR-PRIME
5 MPL NVA-S(I)
both have the same weapons
Storm has 11 DHS
Nova has 8..wait, eight? 3 less? Oh, right, its a 50 ton vs. the 55 to...wait..5 extra tons only gets three extra DHS? wut?
I've now maxed out 6, 3crows, 3novas.
Two variants in each took to the extra bonus module (we're talking total of 4)
I have 300+ battles in the nova and 180-200ish? in the Crow.
a buttload I can tell ya, so I'm not guessing, nor conjecturing on the two.
Just wanted to point that out for the next part
Do me a favor -open both links, and click "weapon lab" and compare the two back and forth.
You'll see pretty quickly that they are BOTH very similar, and should be. On paper that is...
Yet, the nova shuts down, overheats, cooks itself WAY more than the crow. Any of you nova jocks knows this to be true.
Now, I'm the same guy running both, same player, playstyle, maps, teams, pugs, same same same.
And I can say unequivocally the Nova will run hotter, shuts down quicker than the Crow.
why? WHAT am I missing, whats the difference, they should be damn near the same.
The hitboxes might be different..except I live longer in the crow, the nova tosses its arms off like a stripper.
One is fast, yes. The other has jumpjets, yes. One is wide, so what, one is..fugly, m'eh.
But apples to apples, why does the nova NOT show up in tournaments, drops or too often in pugs, if all on paper is so close? (add 4MG's and it suddenly has a much higher DPS than the crow, but that does not help the poor Nova.
this is my point for the nova to get a buff, start with endo, AND ferrous give it the same slots per ton the storm crow has.
Its a pity such a neet mech got crippled and PGI's answer was a 1.5% heat buff last patch...I could not feel a difference. I'm quite familiar with both mechs. I'd rather not sell off my Nova, but I would not suggest someone waste their time on the entire line, and the thought of a champion or hero nova would be a bad joke.

Yup, I noted that in my post. but... why?
both are nearly the same price- the reasoning behind the high cost of clan mechs WAS.......the xl, yes, AND endo, FF, and DHS
again, why are the two so close on paper, and literally light years apart in game.
By those standards, the nova then should run 7ish million per variant.

Because the Lore. and Lore doesn't have ghost heat so...yea. PGI should probably just give the nova some FF and Endo.

You misunderstand me. That Dawg was saying that the Nova is way hotter in-game than it is on paper. I'm trying to explain that.

That's not the issue with the Nova, and if you go to the training grounds to test you'll see you aren't cooking yourself much faster.
The primary differences are:
- Model Size
- Hitboxes
- Speed/Agility
People go on and on about endo/ferro and while those would help the Nova they really aren't the whole story.
As your testing shows, while the Stormcrow has "more" tonnage to start with it actually starts with FOUR LESS HEATSINKS than the Nova.
That means the two of them are only a bit over 3 tons different.
Endo is not really the problem, it's a factor, but it's not the problem.
The Endo/FF that the TBR and SCR start with counteract their, proportionally, huge engines for their tonnage - they don't actually have that much more tonnage to work with compared to similar clan mechs.

Mainly the hitboxes.
It's big, and big is bad. At least it can carry guns.
I just wish it will get the Nova-U omnipods at some point. ECM head and 8 MGs; 4 per ST. If PGI isn't going to go about changing the geometry, a buff like that isn't uncalled for. Giving it Endo would only go so far.
Though, hefty quirking is another option. Removal of ghost heat would allow for assault level pinpoint alpha strikes, at the expense of being a gigantic target. Not my preferred option, though.

5 extra heatsinks would help any nova to an amazing degree............

2.5 tons; Nova isn't that shafted.
Though, 5 heatsinks with Endo added. Most builds would have difficulty fitting them since you still lose 2 net slots.

Nope! The Nova doesn't get those.
However, I would think quirks aimed at cooling would help. Size is also a factor, but I don't see that being fixed.

You people say this like it is some kind of epiphany! The fact that a Stormcrow is better than a Nova is over 2 decades old. Welcome to the 80s kids!
