More Beta keys are coming our mid July.

Is it true that only founders will be invited to the closed beta?

Early Founders are supposed to be favourite candidates for beta keys.
If that means that it's only founders who get thrown in the pot, well I don't know.

The devs have made comments that they were considering favoring founders when it comes time to hand out the next round of beta keys, but there have been no official statements and never anything to indicate they were planning to make it founders-exclusive or that all founders would get in.

The first 10k keys was handed out randomly, apparently there is another lot of beta keys that is going to the founders.

Aug 7 is the one where founders are said to be invited for the beta. but beyond that no idea.

I have been waiting for this game for a long time. I will be happy when ever I get to play whether its half done or not.

That the "founders" gets chosen first is a bad idea, it only creates a rift between those with the money and those that either waits or don't have it atm. The base criteria for anyone should be past experience in such projects outweighing any monetary surplus.

But yeah, I think Russ said something about "doing something for the first founders", but that's all ; so no worries if you're cheap poor not paying for the game, you have a chance

Closed Beta 2 is coming! And it'll be twice as good as Closed Beta 1! (It should be, just by looking at the numeric naming convention!)

Can't wait for August 7th. But it's still over a month away. PGI! You need to release more goodies! Can't get enough videos.

While I would dearly love to get in on the Beta testing, the only thing that truly matters is how quickly they are able to get the whole game up an running without a stream of hiccups that are in constant need of correction. For that I am willing to wait until the return of the Star League.

Closed Beta 1 (which is running right now)
Closed Beta 2 (which is what they are calling August 7th)

Agree with KitLightning above ... already myriad comments on these forums from non-Founders regarding inequality & favouring the Founders over non-Founders with the next batch of keys will be greeted with howls, and I believe rightly so. It's not fair to penalise the non-premium players & more balanced feedback will be garnered with the inclusion of both Founders & Followers in next key allocation anyway.

To an extent, people who have put money into an unfinished product deserve to see how their investment is coming along.

They did mention open beta in one of the video's but nothing else since then. An open beta weekend makes sense for stress testing the servers.
