My hope is that with the community strongly backing the game, the game developers will strongly back the hopes of the community. That said the community has some pretty hefty hopes too. One thing I think would be awesome is that we generate enough support of this game that we see the devs voraciously pursue the remaking of the unseen mechs.

In the near future, I expect only random PvP (WoT-like) to give them time to tweak and balance gameplay and such...

But I surely hope for a dynamic galaxy that is influenced by each battles fought... And that intergalactic events will gives some spice to the Universe. Clan invasion, we know that. But also political changes, civil wars in a faction, rogue planet government, full scale war between factions, etc. Anything to keep mechwarriors around the universe busy... :P
We start the timeline just before the Clan invasion, but we can modify it, from the official one, as the months and years passes...
Also, would be great if a real life month or two = a galaxy year, so we can see more galactic events...
Ok... I'll stop drifting from my main subject...

If you claim to like BT/MW as much as you do, there really shouldn't much to think about.

Oh, but there is... Can I handle another dissapointment, Microsoft-like?...

Take a chance and if the guy talking about Mayan apocalypse is right it won't matter, so take the plunge and hope the thousands of "us" that jumped at the chance are right.

That guy was me... :P

mass effect 3 had a demo that was atrocious. you only have yourself to blame in that case.

Nobody is perfect...
Although I pre-order before the demo was available, if I remember correctly...
That's why I hesitate... Somehow, I'm about to do the same thing. Dropping $$$ before trying the demo...

I went for the $60 package even though I knew I was about to become unemployed because most of all I have waited too long for this game already.
...

Good luck finding another job...

Well, as you can see under my nickname, I finally made my move... :D

Let me tell all who took the time to answer my "challenge", and I was quite surprised so many peoples did, that I appreciated their inputs...

As I said in my OP, it was an all (legendary) or nothing move...
First, because I really want to see a BattleTech game rebirthed...
And because it's been a while since I played a MW game, and also with the new design specific to MWO (For example, LRM Missiles going up, then rain on the victim. While in all other MW games I played, LRM goes in straight line...), I really wasn't able to tell which of the 4 Mechs I would prefer... Beside, I'll surely want to pilot each 4 classes, even if I have a favourite...

For the record, sure I'd like to be able to play the Beta early. But I won't be upset to wait until the 'official' release...
Patience is a virtue... And the wait will be sweeter because MWO will have less bugs, hopefully... B)

Finally, what made me move?... Basically 2 things...
1) The more I looked into the MWO project, the more I liked it... One day I checked videos. Another I checked the blogs. Etc... And almost everything has a positive vibe in it... The smell of success is there...
2) Wanted to help a new company/developpers, far from the big AAA players and enthusiast about the Battletech universe... And on the plus side, we're from the same country...

So... Thanks again... Hope for the best... And see you on the battlefield...

I see 120 bucks as a kickstarter and a show of good faith.

Reading all this made me take the leap from Elite to Legendary, been a fan of Mechwarrior games since I got myself a copy of Mech 2 for my 15th birthday.

I have put my faith in this game and hope that it breath's new life into the franchise, good mech style games are few & far between.

Indeed...

World of Tanks is (or should I say was) the closest and the next best thing, but since it's inspiration is WW2, the dynamic is quite different from a MechWarrior game... Light Tanks useless against a heavy one. Artillery, but no missiles. No radar, only LoS. No hardpoints, you can only get a better of the standard thing already in place. Etc...
Also, instead of developping the 'universe' around WoT, they decided to focus on World of Planes and World of Ships...

I bought to support a game of which I've been waiting for a VERY long time. Now we have the Hardware, game engine and internet to make the best Mech game possible. I for one can't bloody wait and if pre buying into that idea means having a little faith that should be no problem for most of us pilot's! :P
