Well then, I suggest you test your resolve against Davion, Marik's cease fire with Steiner ended as soon as you moved on Dubhe (not that it was to extend beyond the Cease Fire last night anyway, so in reality, you just prompted us to get the party started a couple hours early).

That is, if you are truly desiring to be a disruptive force within Steiner, otherwise now, you're just following orders :P

It isn't that we want to be disruptive to Steiner as much as we want to fight. When we get a 12 man going, we pretty much randomly pick a planet and start attacking it. As a Unit, we do not have any lore or aggregate resentment towards any particular faction.

You can almost consider an attack from us as a chance roll of the dice. Sometimes, we will pick a specific Faction to stir up trouble, like we did over Christmas. Other times, we will pick an easier one if we have a lot of our newer CW pilots in the drop. Overall though, we are equal opportunity raiders. ;)

I get the impression that the majority of Marik forces are on holiday. Maybe afterwards you will get more fight than you wanted....

Don't flatter yourself pal, assuming you even know what it means. I've used this tag since the early 90's, you know, before it was "cool" to claim to be a fan of the 2A.

Assuming that one Unit may simply issue dictates to all others, such as proclaiming cease-fires, is really quite laughable. Like I said previously, there may be cease-fires between Units, but between Factions? Never!

Weird, because the Liao/Marik border has been quiet for 2 weeks after we agreed to a Non-Agression Pact, and it only took a day or two to spread the word amongst all the merc/loyalist units, after that, the problem corrects itself because individual PUGS get no action as they are sitting in empty queues.

Also, it's not 1 unit, I know that almost every house has a council of sorts, comprised of most of the units of that faction, that are capable of creating a consensus of thought, that trickles down to the rank and file.

Simply put, you cannot allow some parts of a Faction ownership/rule over other parts. If several Units wish to band together for strategic alliances and coordination, so be it, but do not expect all other Units to simply follow your lead. Simply because The Brethren are heading up an alliance of Pirate Factions does not mean that we would automatically assume all other Steiners would follow our lead. That is unfair to them and rather presumptuous and arrogant of us.

You should also keep in mind that the Holiday is the only/best time for some pilots to play. Denying them that opportunity is conceited.

The general idea was for everyone who was still playing over the holiday, to go fight on the Clan border and help aid in stopping the advance of the test-tube babies. It was for the good of the entire Inner Sphere.

Also, I find it amusing that someone who repeatedly and vociferously keeps saying "WE DO WHAT WE WANT" to accuse others of arrogance and conceit.

As for intentionally shutting-down, disco'ing, or somehow intentionally sabotaging your team, all of that is against the Player Conduct Rules and can be reported.

That's why I asked the question.

The CoC dates from a time when the game was just a 12v12 murderball that had absolutely no repercussions on the larger meta-game. The battles were meaningless beyond stroking a KDR Epeen, now that there is a larger game at play, some new ground rules need to come into effect.

Like, Steiner may or maynot be happy with the False Flag operation you're bragging about, If your actions run contrary to the goals of the House at large, what options does the house have to prevent you from doing it?

That's why questions like that need to be asked.

*Chuckle* I definitely know what it means! I just meant within the MWO community. Since I joined way back when, I've run it in all my sigs except the current one. ;)

+1 for standing up for the Second Amendment! :)

The fact of the matter is that mercenary players are simply rewarded for being the worst kind of pvp player there is: the bandwagoner. Why do merc units change contracts every 7 days and only join up with the steamrolling factions?

Because they lack a pair.

You've really gotten your shorts in a knot over this, haven't you?

Simply put, The Brethren reserves the right to be its own Master. As a group of gamers, we play for fun. Kowtowing to ceasefires or councils is not in the cards.

As for attacking Clanners, we've already done a lot of that. We had some fresh recruits this time though that were having trouble with Clanners, so we picked the easier IS Houses for adversaries instead, to give the newbies a chance to get their feet under them.

As for wanting a special exception to the rules to make poor sportsmanship permissible, I say no. That's just going to lead to a lot of confusion, particularly for new players, and one big headache for PGI.

Your best bet, is for PGI to simply hurry up and roll out bounties. Then you could put a bounty on our heads to get Units to target us. ;)

QFT..........absolutely on target. Our unit signed on Permanent on day 1 (or maybe it was day 2) and will always be a Steiner unit.

You will see these same units switching to Clan tags soon enough, mark my words.

Some might, but we didn't. We're on our second Steiner contract right now (month long if I remember correctly).

At the end of each contract, we hold a Brethren Court to determine where next to fight. For us, it's not about the Faction or planets; it's about the mission rewards! At the time, Steiner had a lot of border frontage with other Units, more than Liao for example, so it made more sense for us to join them where we knew there would be a lot of opportunities to fight! :D

All the merc units say the same thing: they joined the bandwagon faction for <insert bullshit altruistic reason here>. If that were true, you would join one of the three most beleaguered factions, Liao, FRR or Kurita. Instead we're seeing people go to Steiner or Davion. For the "challenge" of course. No surprise that MS came back to the Bear, and CI joined em' since they couldn't beat em'.

/Salute to the faction loyalists, who fight hard for their team no matter the circumstance.

Hey Roadbeer, are you still in it for the bacon, or have you opted into the house politics? In all honesty we would prefer that the periphery be made available to the pirate groups in the game. Until PGI decides to make pirate factions available and open the periphery we will be what we will be and sign on with wherever we decide to as a group. If that involves sowing a little discord here and there, well, so be it. We were invited to the Steiner hub but so far have chosen to be ourselves rather than a truly allied unit, this may change in the future, or it may not, we do as we please. Pirates observe no alliances, only opportunity.

Take all you can, give nothing back.

You know me, I'm all about the space bacon, and House Marik has the best. (Clanner Space Bacon is vat grown... ewwww)

As far as politics? Meh, but I do understand the need for strategic alliances and and Cease Fires in the grand scheme of things, so I guess that's where my Forumwarrior skills are a benefit. :D

I have a misconception about my reason for being a Pirate and my Unit's reasons for attacking a planet? Wow, that's rather presumptuous of you.

Whatever. This has been good publicity for us Pirates. :)

It's a game dude. Mercs make the most of it by playing for each house. Permanent players merely limit their options. If Unit Life is incorporated eventually, as it was originally advertised, then perhaps there may be a good reason to be a lifetime loyalist. In the meantime though, anyone choosing such a path is merely limiting their options and stunting their gaming experience by eliminating the opportunity to earn additional loyalty ranks and all the perks thereof.

My experience has been that Loyalist players tend to be the most up-tight, un-fun people in the game because they take it way too seriously. Lighten up and live a little! RL has enough drama as it is. :)

MS stated on day 1 that they'd do 1 week rotations between Ghost Bear and Davion. This is because their members want to use all their 'mechs, and two of their largest component units have house loyalties (CK is a Ghost Bear unit, and SWK is a Davion unit).

They're not bandwagoning, they picked their ties early and they're sticking with it. Please don't smear their reputation because you don't understand what they're doing.

MS stated nothing on day one, except the desire to troll Clans. When that failed, they bandwagoned to Davion since it had "more fronts and more drops." When Davion got boring, they came back to troll (and fail) Clans a second time, over the same planet, with CI. The stated goal? To "open a front with JF." There's a post floating around anyone can read outlining some convoluted, clown shoes arrangement to swap planets till GB has a border with JF, since they didn't have the sack to go Steiner, FRR or Kurita. I've seen posts and in game chat stating nothing but the will to PvP and troll. They have zero ties, and your apologist post reeks of ingratiation.

Let's keep it real, shall we?

Ah yes, the entitled clanners, rolling around the Inner Sphere in their overpowered mechs, whining that Merc units, who were forced to choose a House......lack courage because they take 7 day contracts.....

Get back to us when you actually play like clanners, you know....a Star against a 12 man.........
