Nice write-up. And yes, missile options for the Nova would be nice. That thing needs...something.

Yes it does, it needs firing discipline and a steady hand.

Is the Stormnova actually among the confirmed new pods? Are we getting all of the in-code pods or just some? Will the Timber gets its obnoxious triple-laser sniping left torso?

I think Russ said one variant per mech; while the Nova alone has 3 available.

It's hard to say. Maybe an announcement Tuesday, or at least a quirk pass.

And not being as wide as an Assault mech with 50 a tonner's worth of armour.

I'd prefer the A, but the C is better than the D for missile options.

It wouldn't replace the Prime arms and is significantly higher mounted.

I thought the Hellbringer wasn't getting one (well, sarna suggests another variant, which has 1B, 1E per arm).

The Nova-A is the best choice... LRM usage is not as important (especially if you just get one). The extra energy LT should help out.

If there were one variant to be added for each mech...

Kitfox - Kitfox-C RA (2E, 2B)

Adder - Don't care (I guess the Adder-B's Ballistic Left Arm mirror would be OK)

Nova - Nova-A LT (1E, 1AMS)

Stormcrow - Do we need more pew pew?

Summoner - Summoner-M LT (1E, 1M) with the energy nipple...

Timberwolf - Timberwolf-A LT (3E), but we're getting the Timberwolf-D, so bleh

Warhawk - Warhawk-C CT (1E) for more wub

Direwolf - Direwolf-S CT (1M, +1JJ) so "land pigs can fly"

Mist Lynx - meh? Mist Lynx-D LA (1B) will probably be made available

Ice Ferret - Ice Ferret-D RA (2E) for more pewpew

Hellbringer - "apparently" lol no, but if available, then Hellbringer-F on paper sounds OK (1B, 1E per arm)

Gargoyle - Gargoyle-B (LA has 2M, RA is 1B) for better omnipods over the Gargoyle-Prime

That's about it.

Screw it. At this point, just make them real omnimechs. This is getting ridiculous. Timberwolves with 9 lasers, Summoners mounting PPC+Gauss in their torso. Why even care about canon loadouts anymore? Let's have the Dual Gauss + JJ poptart Warhawk and be done with it. Or maybe a 2xPPC 2xGauss Dire Wolf poptart.

CW meta has already regressed to the PPCpocalypse anyway. Might as well bring back some new and improved poptarts, with new and improved Splatcats

At this point, the amount of power creep brings back memories from WoW.

You don't have to worry about Dire Wolf poptarts. 3 JJs will barely get them off the ground.

Well... that might change at some point given the lack of notoriety of the Highlander.

Can't wait for Timberwolf-A. The Dire Wolf-S arrival will be nice-laser heads for all if you choose thanks to the omnipod system.

Unless they surprise me with a Nova-U, I probably won't use any MC.

The 6E Garg arm is also an option.

Stand behind the assault mechs, problem solved. ;)
Even better, stay behind the Timbers, they're the same speed as the Nova and they'll draw all the fire. :D

Honestly I don't believe they will ever remodel the Nova, which should be shorter than a Commando. Which means its primary problem will never be solved and I think the Nova U with ECM head is the best way to see it come to life again. At least until we get the Shadowcat (ECM on B variant) that is.

I use my Novas (the same as you I suppose--but I noticed last time you were running 13 spl) as a sneaky ninja-type 'mech--use radar dep to move and jj around and try back core people quickly with 12 SPLs/12 ERSML and it is very effective in that role. Even if you pop out and find yourself face to face with a 100t assault youc an still usually burn them down really fast, imagine how much better this play style would be with ECM instead of only a Radar Dep module and terrain?

Why would they add something to the game that has no real function and nobody would ever use?

<looks at the AS7-K, CPLT-C4 and SDR-5V... and the Mist Lynx...>

Ok, you may have a point.

Well, they didn't exactly go wild with the Summoner quirks, did they? 5 extra kph! Wee, now I can run to my inevitable death slightly faster! :)

They would serve as a small mobility aid--you can rotate faster for one and I don't know if you've driven a Whale or not but they tend to get hung up on anything bigger than a pebble and often can't even get up simple hills other 'mechs can.

3 JJs would at least let them navigate these things that other mechs don't even notice.

Well... noone said they had a clue to fix it (*cough* man who shall not be named *cough*).

It is basically serviceable if you go full meta I guess....

Hey, while we are looking at all this omni-pod goodness can we pleeeeeaaseeeee push for WHK and DWF arms to support LA actuators within the stated build rules for omni-tech? (Most of the arms currently prohibit the use of these even if you have no PPC/autocannons installed)
