I use SCARED as my counter to LRMs every match.
S=Situational awareness. Learn the areas of each map to avoid LRMs. If you are in a slow mech you want to avoid areas that benefit LRMs. They are usually open areas.
C=Cover. Your best friend that does not costs any Cbill or MC. If you wander out in the open you do not have cover.
A=AMS. If your mech has the option of AMS you should bring it. If everyone did this, there would be no LRM issues.
R=Radar Dep module. This module is great for losing target lock when you start getting Lurmed to death. If you are a slow mech this module is a must.
E=ECM. Either bring it or hang around a mech that has it. Its like mobile cover.
D=Debrief yourself. If you get Lurmed to death using the above then you made a mistake somewhere. Dont get mad and scream LRMs need a nerf, figure out what you did wrong and try to fix it.

Great post +1

My game changed once I got my first Radar Dep mod.

No one uses lrms outside of pugs.

I could probably pull out at least 30 videos of us using LRMs in premades.
I could probably pull another 60-ish videos of other groups using LRMs.

The reason you won't see it often, is people are afraid of heavy ECM use.

With Clan mechs.

--------
The LRMs I miss...

These could kill you by your legs.
------------
All that said... Spam-lrms.

It's not the LRMs that really kill you. It's the spam.

Thanks OP for some nice tactics to use against lrms. Most people should know these by now, but any info. for our newer players is good info. I know(both from this thread and numerous other threads) that a lot of people consider lrms a trash weapon only used by really bad players. I'm sure that's true at times, and lrms are probably more effective in the hands of a bad player than other weapons.
Their use in skirmish/assault/conquest depends on teamwork and they CAN be completely nullified with effective countermeasures. So I can see why people laughed at lurm pilots before.
CW is a whole new ballgame even in the competitive scene. In every match I've played with my beloved treb there has come a point where ecm breaks down and mechs are forced to run in the open. AMS is even more of a non issue with all the "lrms useless" mindsets. I certainly don't think they are "op" or to be boated on every mech in your dropdeck, but they do have a place.

Not sure if anyone adressed it yet, but I saw someone say "AMS only works vs LRMs". This is false. AMS works vs all missile weapons including NARC.

Yeah Eider....and with lazors you don't even need "r"!!!

Seriously, this is the mindset of the people who hate on lrms. They assume the weapon is an easy mode weapon that requires "no skill" while at the same time calling it a trash weapon that can not be taken seriously. The two statements by lrm haters directly contradict themselves.

I keep it simple for PUG drops.

1. If team has no ECM=Use terrain/buildings to hide and carefully engage and let noobs take brunt of LURM spam.
2. If team has ECM=Stay near ECM providers and target enemy ECM first if possible.
3. If team is just lame and no ECM=drop from match and re-Q.

This was covered in a post called "PUG Rules" but it seems some aggressive post deletion was employed instead of being even locked.

Word.

I run HBKs a lot. My go-to HBK is the 4J w/ 2xLRM10s, the thing is very successful, and my TBT-5N is set for LRMs too, also a beast.

What this post says is true. LRMs can be countered easily with tech, movement, and tactics. But chief among them is situational awareness. All the tech and movement won't save any pilot if they have no "mech sense"

And, that's true if facing a LRM boat or a nasty 80pt brawler.

Bad form.

At least finish the match then re-Q. You're going to punish a team of randoms that the MM threw together by handicapping them further by removing a whole player artificially? Why punish the noobs for the MM's mistake?

Add Stealth armor. No locks on the mech using it without tag.

The fun side effect for those tools is they're handicapping themselves. Not feeding enemy intel to your team is like fighting with one hand behind your back.

I'm poor so no modules. AMS sucks and Its easier to just stay near buildings and use Long range weapons to snipe, or get in brawling range and ruin them.

AMS doesn't suck, it's just not for everybody and every build. If you're a slow, short range mech, they are likely a good investment.

I probably spend more time searching and loading matches than I do actually playing them. Why would you quit when most matches are so short?

No, not scared, because youc an qzuite easily counter them, yet you hve to be aware or they of course wreck you in the most annoying style the game offers. But getting lrmed to death is mostly a selfmade mistake.
