I would go for Cicada for speed, Jenner for Firepower(more then a dragon at close range) and Raven for electronics.

You are correct, but I was trying to say that the commando has a "smooth" design, compared to some of the other more primitive geometric designs.

The Jenner, simply because it's the only 'Mech out of the three that can jump. Instead og the Commando, maybe they should have gone with the Javelin?

The Jenner has a similar amount of firepower to the Commando while being faster and jump capable. The real appeal of the Commando is its loadout (it's pretty damned good for a 25 tonner), but the Jenner can do the same job better.

How do the Commando and Jenner's heat profiles stack up against each other, I wonder? Jenner is just crammed full of lasers for a little guy, I have to think the Commando might have an advantage in heat management.

Anyway, Raven is best mech. So Raven. Yep.

...Though I do plan on getting a Commando too.

I will specialise in the Commando. All the variants of it.
But if i could have a Firebee i would be in heaven but it's an unseen with only one variant that has the appropriate tech so my hope is slim.

You know... The commando sniper mech project...

I figure you can get full armor, 5/8 move, a ppc and a small laser in that sucker and have room for 5 extra heat sinks.

Type: Commando Sniper Technology Base: Inner Sphere / 3050 Ruleset: Standard (5th edition) Tonnage: 25 Cost: 1,838,854 C-bills Battle Value: 583 Equipment Mass Internal Structure: Standard 2.5 Engine: 125 4.0 Type: Fusion Walking MP: 5 Running MP: 8 Jumping MP: 0 Heat Sinks: 10 [10] 0.0 Gyro: Standard 2.0 Cockpit: 3.0 Armor Factor: 89 6.0 Internal

I may actually whip one up.

Actually I pick Panther...

The Panther will NEVER be a scout. It's slow, many mediums are faster. It's essentially a heavy mech in a light mechs body.

I'm going for a 1C variant of this. AC 2 with lots of speed and ammo.

As much as I like the commando as a filler mech in TT, it has no place in MWO. 35 tons is the minimum viable mech chassis. The commando does not have enough tonnage even if it has good hard points. As a missile boat, the Trebutchet is superior in every aspect, and as a scout the Jenner and Cicada literally run circles around it.

Excuse me but you forgot that there is a mechlab. If you put the Commando in there it can become faster if you want it to.
The same engine in a Commando and a Cicada will give the Commando a 15-25 kph speed advantage if i'm not mistaken due to the weight class difference.

i want 20 ton mechs.

I believe the Cicada's engine weighs something like 22 tons. The thing is literally an engine on legs.

I would be amused to see that fitted to a 25 ton mech.

Yes but a 25 ton mech doesn't need that size engine to reach the same speed. It can be done with a much MUCH lighter engine. Theoretically you can reach 9/13 but I think the rule cap was 8/12.

The spider was a 25 ton mech with 8/12/8 so when you want speed/mobility light is always better.

Whoops, sorry, spider is 30 tons. http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Spider

Still the point remains, you could jack a 25 ton chassis to that speed level easily since it's even lighter.

Might be able to do it with an XL engine. But won't be much left for weapons and armor.

Look at the stock Cicada. That's basically what they did.

You mean the CDA-2A? That one has a std engine according to Sarna...of course Sarna has been wrong before.
Oh well...i'll stick to the Commando anyhow.

I was referring to the "nothing left for armor and weapons" part. The thing has the armor of a light mech and the weaponry of a battle armor.
