I'm a Lying Macross Purist.

I hate Robotech, but I like Macross.

Shhh! There is no connection between Macross and Battletech. All mechs are legally distinct from Macross mecha and any and all resemblance is purely coincidental. ;p

I remember that scene. I thought that was a great little touch.

In fact one of my favorite things about Macross Frontier was watching how far along the human and Zentradi race had come since the original series. It had gotten to the point where one of the main characters was one quarter Zentran! The visible progress in all manners (technology, ship design, social issues) that was displayed in that series was so much fun to see.

People hate on Hamony Gold too much, sure their level of editing is unacceptable today but back then I think it was necessary since it was the only what to get it on TV and it introduced a whole generation to the wonders of anime.

Back then it was rather common for that amount of editing and butchering to anime. Could have been much worse, just look at what happened to alot of the mahou shoujo animes of that era. That doesnt mean ill ever forgive them for what they have done.

I went and dug up my old account.
Apparently I haven't posted since the forums switched over.

It has been a very long time since I was active in that community.

I remember you, I'm Raptormesh there. I try not to go there too often nowadays, the valks are getting prohibitively expensive...

I think you could say without Osamu Tezuka (Astroboy), Macross wouldn't be here. Not sure about the rest.

I remember getting my old 1/60 yamato valks for $60 to $70 dollars then back in the day. They are now over a $100 for the same thing, ugh. I still need to get a few to finish my collection should have done it years ago.

Would get another 1/48 but T-T so much more and harder to find then a 1/60. still not as much as the macross 7 and plus valks.

I remember when they were insanely expensive - a Takatoku Strike Valkyrie was a couple of grand if you could find one.
Even those Korean knockoffs (Joons?) were hundreds of dollars.
And Jetfires? Even the broken pieces were eighty or ninety dollars.

Then they issued the re-releases, and suddenly Bandai Valks could be gotten for under $50 in good condition.

Then the first Yamato Valkyries came out (I've got my Max VF-1A and Hikaru Super-J out by my desktop PC), and even though they weren't perfect-transformation, they were so awesome compared to the chunky-monkeys. I still love the way they look, imperfections and all.

I stopped collecting about the time the first 1/48's came out. I wanted one of the low-vis Strikes and never managed to pick one up. Now even the new releases are hundreds of dollars. Again.

Man, I still wish I'd managed to grab a Low-Vis Strike 1/48 when they were just a couple of hundred bucks.
