I am really happy with my TDR9s with double AMS, 3x small pulse lasers in left torso, 2x erppc in the right torso, 2x mguns and a flamer in hands for some close brawling.
Back in the past before the quirks it was a AC10+LPL in the hands, 5 small lasers in torsos and the srm6.
Both builds are very fun to play and there are NO boatind or sniping. I also may say that triple erppc build is boring and not so benefitial as people may think.

SERIOUSLY, I can not understand why people debate that this particular quirk is just too much on the Thunderbolt!

It pumps out a higher DPS while running cooler than 2 other Mechs which ARE actually built to boat PPCs, the Awesome and the Warhawk! While beeing 15-20 tons lighter! This has absolutely nothing to do with IS vs Clan, people that try and force this discussion in that direction should be ashamed of themselves for their blatant makebelieve factionalism!

(Just to make that clear, I am talking about the ER PPC boat configurations. Hell, even the AWS-8Q with regular PPCs can barely compete with this Thunderbolt!)

Because the other PPC quirks just arent enough

Id be OK with them meeting at the middle, with a ~40% heat reduction, but nerfing the thunderbolt isnt going to make the AWS\K2 comp viable.

I was running Tbolts before they were cool ect..... Yeah the quirks are nice on the 9s. I run two ERPPCs and three med lasers in mine and I run a 7mpl 5SS. They are mastered of course with modules and all that. So broken.... But I also have a clan alt that I don't have nearly as many mastered mechs on. Just two NOVAs. Friggin NOVAs. Still as good or better than any IS medium. Then I have a Timberwolf S with the basic skill tier. It wrecks mechs with a stock build. It is fast and agile and has the load out of an IS assault. I've run the Summoner and it is a nice heavy mech. Not amazing but very playable compared to IS heavies. Not nearly as nice as the Timberwolf but a solid mech.

As far as I'm concerned playing clan mechs is like playing on easy mode. The Timber is amazing and it is suppose to be. I would take it against any IS assault and I can't say that about my Tbolts and by the time I upgrade my Tbolts to be competitive with STOCK clan builds they cost about the same as buying a Timber. Stormcrows are better than any IS mediums and Adders with two ERPPCs are pretty spiffy......

Your clan mechs are still better especially out of the box.

Are we playing ComplainWarrior Online ?

Should I start 15 threads about streak boating Stormcrows that cripple me in one shot ?

A better team will beat you no matter what builds they have access to. If you want to complain, perhaps you should drop in the testing grounds. Although, Complainwarriors would be back yelling about winning only 30% of the time because they keep getting matched up against NoPilot. Which, of course, means ELO is not working.

For anyone else wondering what's in this thread, I skim-read the first 12 pages. A full third of it is just Bishop Steiner post-whoring.

30 pages or not, there's actually very little content here.

Bishop actually have fair points. I may not agree on everything he says on this forum, but so far he's making good points.

I thought Clans were supposed to be apolitical. Win on the battle field, not in a debate.

This thread is Clanners complaining that the TBR and SCR finally have an IS mech that they actually have to compete against.

Disgusting.

Lol....and you should be so busy fighting other Mariks, you shouldn't even notice...if things were the way they were "supposed" to be.

The TDR-9S is a perfect example of what quirks should do. This mech was basically useless before giving it quirks but now it has become viable against superior clan weapons. I speak as an -MS- pilot and we have played both sides of the CW line the TDR-9S can be beaten we have done it, it also is very viable to help attack against clans we have done this as well. Everyone that is calling for it to be nerfed are doing so because they beleive that clan mechs must remain more powerful relative to IS mechs. If the goal of quirks was to bring IS near to par with clans than the TDR-9S is exactly what they wanted. I don't think the 9S needs to be nerfed rather I think it should be used as a perfect example if what properly assigned quirks can do to narrow the weapon gap between clan and IS.

TDR-9S not OP

Clans had politics...and 'constructive' ways of resolving them.

Players...not so much with that resolve.

Lmao! I don't see a problem with the Thunderbolt or any IS mech having 3 PPC/ERPPCs. The quirks are not game breaking either. I mean we have Clan mechs that are boating the same and even boating 3 Guass or 5 LBX 5s and I have and even see others with Warhawks with 4 ERPPCs. So if you want the T-Bolt to get the PPC nerf, than these clan mechs need a nerf too.

3 big weapon builds are not that hard to deal with. When it was 5, 6 and 7 PPC boats, that was an issue.

I'd like to point out that Clans don't really have any 2xGauss options besides the Dire Wolf.

IS can use JM6-S, CTF, CPLT-K2, KGC. Gauss is a great weapon for sniping and has more range than energy weapons. If you bring 8-9tons of ammo usually it will be plenty to last you through the sniper phase of a CW match.

Like this:

Edit:

Add in whatever mix of Timbers, Warhawks, Direwolves with 2x Gauss and whatever ER PPC / ER LL you want, do same thing. Those 9s won't last being counter sniped.

Thunderbolts with ERPPCS only.

There is little to no varience in builds now. Its all ERPPCs on thunderbolts.

I would like to see a change to thunderbolts. This "Meta" is not enjoyable especially in PUG matches.

You have said you didnt want players boating long range weapons especially PPCs yet this is what players are currently doing. AGAIN

Double heat quircks are far to powerful.

In CW the problem is even worse with most cordinated groups only droping thunderboltz.

I also see more Awsome Q's daily with 4 ppc builds.

The ERPPC should be slow to fire, hot to use and deadly when it hits.

15/15, 5s CD, no heat quirks, and a max fired at a time of 1.

I see a lot of people complaining about the OP Timberwolf but no one ever says what makes it OP.

Do some of you people coming in here to defend the Thunderbolt even know what the quirks are?

I was on a clan ghost bear team...
I was deffending on sulfur.

We lost in under 10 minutes because the whole team had Thunderbolt 9S's besides 2 stalkers and a centurion.
The biggest premade group was a 4 while the rest are pugs besides a 2 man group.

How does one simply win a map with a heavy mech with 3 ER PPC's in under 10 minutes by rushing the deffenders with hillhumps nad stuff...

sorry, but since then I quit Clan vs IS combat in CW. each game had more and more and more thunderbolt 9S's which I find are stupid with the quirks. and I am afraid my next game would be a bigger pre made all in thunderbolts.

Who's ever idea was it to make the thunderbolt out class the awesome in ER PPC boating and also to make a single thunderbolt better then a lance of ER PPC warhawks must go rethink his life decisions... he must be the same person who thinks giving the firestarter its' small pulse laser quirks and the locust pirates bane the AC2 quirk it was originally coming out with...

This is a mech meant to have 1 ppc at best, not boat them better then any other mech in game. (meanwhile the Catapult K2, Adder prime, and the warhawk has no PPC quirks AT ALL.) (also better quirks then awesome...).

However I just noticed when I wanted to check up on the thunderbolt somethings odd... it's now a large pulse laser quirk...
perhaps there is a glimmer of hope...

Okay, it can do it "nearly" non stop.

Obfuscating and omission are the same as a lie!

He's a question for all of you, Summoner is 5 tons heavier and has superior Clan Weaponry and jump jets. It also has the cheat mode clan XL engine. Now, for ANY configuration of the Summoner,

Is it better in CW than the Thunderbolt 9s with 3 er PPCs and a std engine?

Ok, please explain how comparing the best and the worst of IS and Clan add anything to this post?

The fact is the Thunderbolt is not OP. It is simply useful on the current CW maps, more so on Boreal than Sulpher.
This whole thread is populated by drama queens with their knickers in a knot. Mostly the Clan who are exceedingly jealous of their sleek, high powered, tier three mechs. The inner-sphere guys are people who can see what is in front of them but no concept of pending change. With new maps on CW the 9S will be less formidable. Count on it.
Really!
Calm down.
In the meantime, enjoy the sniping ability of the 9S. They really are weak in close combat.
There is no need to further mod the thuds.

True. I've been around since CB, lived through all the "metas." Its rarely the meta that kills me, its either my own stupidity or the other team is just better.

I get frustrated with these types of threads. There are no "good" or "bad" players in this game. Everyone is only as good/bad as the next mistake they make. Its not a big deal because its just a game, but placing the blame for losing outside of myself means I'm not thinking critically about what happened. It means I would always be at the mercy of outside forces. It means I'm not in control of my own fate.

It means not getting better at anything.

I'm ok with losing. I'm not ok with not learning from it. Sometimes I face a team that are just better. These losses happen. However, most of the time any problem a meta presents can be solved with the proper application of will and creativity.

Top tier units could win with "garbage" builds because they have better discipline, focus fire, and efficiency. Very rarely are people losing to builds in this game. More often your losing to better pilots with more teamwork.

If Thunderbolts were so vastly OP, units would flocking to IS in CW. But that doesn't seem to be the case.
