Thinking about getting the Highlander mastery pack.

Can I get some feedback about those mechs? Is it worth it? are the mechs any good? What are some of the best builds?

HoverJets™ are rather sad at the moment...so don't expect to jump around much.

I haven't touched mine in a long while.

Never run JJ's in mine. Find the right build is quite effective. If you get one reject the meta and build to your play style and quirks. The whole jump snipe thing is for twitch shooters so if that's you its not a great choice right now.

I stopped driving mine till yesterday someone asked me in game why I don't drive it anymore. I put it back in and did an 800 3 kill match with it. Highlanders are good to go.

I am as far as you can get from being a jump snip twitch shooter

If you're planning to run a "fire and forget" LRM boat, they're great.

If you're hoping to be able to negotiate terrain and actually move around....not so much.

Haven't touched them for long as well. The 733 was, and still is a great LRM boat, but other mechs with LRM quirks had surpassed it--such as AWS-8R and BLR-1S. I can't believe the 733 did not get missile quirks.

The 733C packs good brawling punch but the 325 max rating really hurts its agility.

I chose Highlander recently as I wanted a more CW friendly assault (ran Atlases previously), and preferred it's looks over battle master and stalker. I am pleased I did.

I haven't bothered with JJ yet, and it's fair to say they are hideous until you get anchor turn and double HS. I find it to be reasonably tanky, and fairly maneuverable with a Std 325 engine. I like the distinct torso too, that ties together the family, typically with 2xLLas and a box of Lurms.

So far I've been running a mixed focus rather than a LRM boat configuration. It's a flexible combination that contributes at all ranges, but is weak for brawling.

Brawling is the one thing they can probably do pretty well now, actually, but the BNC or AS7 is probably a better bet for that.

Pros:

.... I own all of them...

Cons:

HUGE CT. I mean, you can mount an XL engine and have no fear of being Side swiped

JJ's suck... like really bad with this mech.

The speed and sucking of the JJ's make the CT issue THAT much worse.

you can achieve x10 more with an atlas... hell. the 85ton Battle master is x10 better than the HGN

(and for those that will say it)

Im a cent player primarily, and torso twisting is my game...... again, the CT is SOOOO bad, you can torso twist all you want... and still get core in 2 seconds

Still my best Mech is the Heavy Metal. The extra 2 jump jets make them far more useful and still has tonnage left over for a decent build.

I own all Battlemasters, Atlas, Victors and Highlanders. Highlanders are still my best assault chassis, the King Crab we shall see!

Well if you do go Highlander, remove those JJs, they are pointless entirely on assault.

Another good assault is the Stalker.

Bullet, if you wanna brawl...try Stalkers. Medium lasers and SRMs...juicy and delicious!

Honestly, I couldn't recommend Highlanders at this time because of Hoverjets™.

If you use it for anything that doesn't involves a major commitment to JJs, then you should be OK.

However, I think the 733P makes for a better missile boat platform, due to having more energy and an energy arm for better TAG effectiveness. The 733 only has 2 energy hardpoints, and while having a 4th missile hardpoint, having a med laser for backup is...atrocious at that point.

its funny how ppl consider the highlander only as a jumpsniper. If you have 2 jumpjets its pretty enuff to jump up in brawls and up some cliffs

The mech works fine for me. 733 and 733c great kdr

Coming from a person who has purchased BOTH of the mentioned packs please take my advice to heart.

You will be MUCH happier with the Stalker Bundle rather than the highlander. You will want to sell the basic Stalker for the 4N but it is 100% worth it.

Aye.

STK-5M; SRMs and MLs
STK-4N: LL Boat

Insert random build of any other variety stalker and it'll still do pretty well for a third.

Prosper.

I will have to take that into consideration
