Swap that weak gauss with a man's gun, the AC20, can make up the tonnage by removing those useless JJs. then you can destroy the weaklings.

If you're assault hunting, the Banshee is king Unless you're a spineless Clanner. My Banshee's take down their share of assaults IS or Clanner.

Banshees have no shortage of dakka or wub.

I would say Stalkers are the greatest missile boats and wubs in mwo. cheaper on tonnage, much higher hard points, better tankers (barely needs to twist to spread damage). The Misery does every job the Atlas does and better.

And the reason why I sidelined my Atlas :/

Run a Highlander 732 with STD 300, Gauss, 3 meds, and 3 srm6. Works like a charm. I throw 1 JJ on it to move around. Its a great brawler.

The great thing about the highlanders pre nerf was the jumpjets that allowed you to get around the single biggest flaw of any IS Assault mech. Namely how almost all of them have low slung hardpoints. So you could pop up to clear cover with out taking a massive amount of firepower to the face.
But with the jumpjet nerf and this mech really doesn't do anything special and is outclassed by the battlemaster, stalker, banshee and even the atlas and awesome.
There are decent builds out there that people do quite well with in them. I personally run a Heavy Metal with x2 AC5's, x3 Large lasers and x2 lrm5's. But honestly other mechs do it better.

Can I get some feedback about those mechs? Is it worth it? are the mechs any good? What are some of the best builds?
Aa someone that mastered all the Highlanders including the Heavy Metal, I can say don't bother. They got pathetic quirks, they have a pathetic engine cap, they have a pathetic movement profile, they have pathetic jump jets, and they have pathetic hitboxes. I have about 200-600K experience on all the variants and still run them occasionally.
They are possibly the weakest assault at the moment as they don't really do anything well at the moment.

Err...not on a Heavy Metal, you can't, it has lower arm actuators in the gun arm.

I bought 3 long ago when they 1st came about.
All mastered. All painted.
Used to be lots of fun. All have better then a 2.x KDR.
I havent touched then since the JJ nerf after seeing what it did to my Victors.
So earlier today, I took each one out on the training grounds.
Ouch
The engine at 325 max (I think except the Hero) keeps the speed down to that of an Atlas (I have 1 Atlas that is faster).
The twist is ok...not great but ok. The Hardpoints, well the mech(s) is right handed. Lose your right torso and everything except missiles are gone (again, not including the Hero), everything.
They are big, sluggish, not very nimble.
Having that big CT and basically being a one sided mech (again, except missiles) running an XL is not really a big deal. Does allow you to pack on more firepower (altho the slots get cramped fast), no more speed because of the engine cap, but some more firepower / heatsinks / JJs.
To really be useful, you HAVE to put more than 2 JJs on. 1 or 2 will get you slowly over some things, but you need more to be a little faster on the jump. and I think if I remember correctly, the JJs are 2 tons each....Another ouch.
Lore had it that the Highlander was THE jumping mech, you know DFA and all. Not so anymore, even without collision in game. either put a FEW on or leave them off altogether.
Sad too, i really used to like my Highlanders even tho I never was a jump sniper / meta boy....shame
*shakes head

Really?
In my opinion, the worst mech in the game... I used to own this chassis and honestly it is by far the worst assault in the game and a serious contender for worst mech.
The only thing that makes the Highlander even remotely viable is if you get the variant that allows for an asymmetric pinpoint front-loaded damage build, using one side as a shield and the other side for weaponry.
These days if I see a Highlander being driven I just laugh.
