Only the delusional didn't see this coming. It was pretty obvious that it was though even before CW. CW just bumped it to top priority.

If anything, CW saved the 5SS because it performs poorly in CW on Boreal which is why no one runs 2 of them in their drop decks like they do with the 9S.

Coolol. Lrms, ecm were and are a topic since 2 years. and they hardly touched it. Ppc meta was a topic for a year , then they touched it.

9ss works as intended. killing some clans on distance. Since the clans dont have superiority on distance they appeared massively on forum to QQ all way long

LRMs were touched, what could be considered a metric fuckton.

Damage buff to 1.8, nerf to 0.7, then at some point to 1.1, then now at 1.0. Speed changing a fair bit along the way.
Artermis explosion damage is still at 1.8 damage, while normal LRMs are still at 0.7...funny to have those reminders.

The 9SS doesn't exist. The 9S has ERPPCs at essentially the heat of ERMLs. They snipe well. They brawl half decently.

It's an easy mech to use. Exceedingly effective.

Hey, that term is only appropriately used when describing the firepower of a Dire Whale. :P

Or, perhaps the amount of wub carried by a certain 95 ton assault mech...

The flying **** is with all these whiny babies who think we are saying the 9S needs to be nerfed to hell?! I don't care if its GOOD, or has ERPPC quirks, I just don't think it should be firing them at HALF the heat of every other PPC boat we have! I mean jesus christ. If the Summoner could fire PPCs at half heat like the 9S the forums would never shut the hell up about it, but because its an IS mech its okay, even if that means the rest of the IS PPC boats are trashed.

My bad with the variant name.. (i dont own thuinderbolds and never plan to buy some)

i meant hardly touched wiwthin the first year after cb and it took them quite some time. I remember when every week 5 ecm threads appeared for 2 years. They nerfed ecm with bap passively. What iam trying to say is, that some ppl seem to be too sure about a eventual erppc thunder nerf. Thats what suprises me.

The funny thing is that is pilots hardly complain about it. Iam facing those things too. Is it more dangerous than a 1n? Hell no, its different better. Dat smallpulse firestarter is different good too.

Look at the Op ´s in those nerf the er ppc thunder threads

all way long clanners. Why? cuz they were used to dominate Is on long range. Its not like that clan weapons have no chance against the erppc thunder. Clanners lost their long range dominance. Thats why all the QQ

Keeping that in mind i welcome at least a IS mech which can counter effectively clanners at range.

Everything nominal

And why is the maneuverability of the timberwolf all of a sudden no topic? It still remains to be the god under the clan mechs because its insane maneuverability in first place. 90kph for a 75 tonner!!!! very good torso twist speed, jump jets.. 27 tons to play with. Is the timber not as good as the erppc thunderbold?

If you wanna nerf the thunderbold then the timber needs to be nerfed too.

It's funny, but even with 'minor' nerds, it is still probably the only mech that can stand against the Timberwolf. What other heavy can do that? :(

Well, the Loki kinda can, but it's not available to the IS...

The problem isn't about range, IS vs Clan, or any of that BS. The problem is PGI basically went and created something they tried hard to eliminate: PPC Spam

If the Thunderbolt had JJ it would be just like last year all over again.

Dragon (due to 50% ACs), ThunderWubs, DakkaPhracts(if they don't jam, quite nasty). If Jaegers are left unchecked, dual Gauss, I suppose, maybe.

Seeing as none of these are 75 tons, seems rather impressive.

Something tells me a 30-40% less heat gen 9S would also be fine. 50% is simply over the top. The one downside of ERPPCs is the heat. This mech doesn't have that issue.

Why are we not talking about the vindicator and its insane ppc quirks then too but only the ppcthunder?

Where did it formally say the 9S will be nerfed? I just bought one yesterday for PUG use. Even at its current state, its not an invincible mech though it does feel like a mech used prior to the coming of ghost heat. I do think by principle, that the mech needs to be adjusted in line with the Awesome, and that quirks should not cross the line that they will be used to defy the intentions of ghost heat.

There aren't any.

Outside of the 5SS & 9S, nothing else can compete against SCR, HBR & TBR in the 50 to 75 ton range.

It will be fun to watch most of the top comp teams suddenly switch back to clan.

It would be more fun to actually see each mech being a possible choice for a comp team.
Sadly people have problem understanding that even clanners want to see balanced stuff between IS and Clan.
And Sadly there is childish guy who want to keep there toy broken and repair the one of the opponent.

So no mechs with good range. Gotcha.

Oh, and Dragons are able to directly compete with Timberwolves? LOL

If we are talking about too good mechs then dont exclude the timber from that discussion

Reduce the speed of the timber or/and remove the jumpjets from it

9S doesn't have good range? Dual gauss, longest range in the game?

400M for meaningful damage with the 5SS isn't terribad either.

I get the feeling I'll either still be using ERPPCS or none at all after this nerf.

And now people see why I wasn't fond of weapon quirks greater than 15% on anything (which means no more than 25% cooldown or range on anything). And definitely NEVER velocity buffs nor buffs as great as 50%. Hell, I don't even agree with weapon quirks as much as 20%.

I'd have much rather seen massive buffs to internal structure, armor, torso twist, turn speed, accel/decel, max speed, upping engine caps on certain mechs (such as the 8 series Awesomes, Highlanders, Vindicators, Blackjacks

I also think ALL Inner Sphere mechs need their internal structure doubled.

If a mech has issues getting CT'ed incessantly, give it CT armor and internal structure buffs, increased torso twist speed, and increased torso twist range.

Look at the Awesome, pre-quirks it got armor buffs to it's barn door torsos but not weapon quirks. For the main quirks patch they removed that. The mech got worse, sure it's weapons are nice, but it's still a walking CT that gets cored by anyone with a modicum of aim.

Seriously, PGI buffed all the wrong things. I like what WHAT they set out to do, I just don't like HOW they went about it.

Yeah, it's just under ERML range…. *eye roll*

Yeah, dual gauss on a 64 ton mech whose side torsos can be destroyed by one alpha...

It's not your fault you can't come up with a single mech that can stand against the TW.
