I have followed every step of the suggested resolution twice.
also 1 clean reinstall
still stuck I mega patch loop. support ticket sent, no response as yet.
I am wasting valuable premium time not being able to play.
I understand things happen, but this is going on for a bit too long.
maybe its time for a step back and re-evaluate the code before proceeding.
I have been involved since closed Beta, invested several $$$ in this game to much more of this will be intolerable.

played yesterday no problems, Got this problem first time today. It wanted me to download 6 gigs, at first I was happy and expected it was urbanmech, (he prob would take 6 gigs) but shocked to find no patch notes then I found this thread.
Did flush-no work. Reboot with flush-no work.
Then after a while I just start it up the client says patch shut it off start it up again. On and off about 5 times and Play came out I played a game no problem. (wasn't back to back on and off although that might do the trick it was maybe in a period of 5mins)
Guys if you got this problem I seriously doubt its "YOU" on your end. I think somethings up with them a serverside issue? just shut the client and startup is all I did.

Okay, so the instances of this issue that are not being resolved with the software-level steps outlined in the original post are indeed server-related.
We've taken this issue up with the data center, and we hope to have a resolution soon. I will keep everyone updated as often as I can as information becomes available.
A simple way to determine if your particular case is server-related is to head over to this link.
Once there, scroll to the bottom of the page.
If the last entry on that page is not "FrontendPatch_197", then your issue is indeed server related. The software-level fixes mentioned in the OP will not do the trick.

Fingers crossed.
best part is that we know the problem is being worked, and that's enough for me.
for now
.....150109:0800 Addendum.....
came home yesterday after work, booted up,
unexpectedly all problems resolved without further action on my part.
thanks PGI for un-fuddling what ever gremlin was in your system.
back to the long Cue for CW...

Are there any more updates on this issue, as it seams to still be occurring. I'm currently watching the repair tool reinstall my game client.

That didn't help one bit. I see 197 and still have a problem. I have done everything but change dns cause I see absolutely no reason to change that when my isp's dns works fine for every other game out there.
I have flushed dns, ran the repair tool (which corrupted my game files) and I have done a complete reinstall.
If it wasn't for the hundreds of dollars in mech packs, premium time and MC I have spent on this game, I would have already left.
On top of that, I have 114 days of premium time ticking away.
