Mine was working fine until a week or so ago. Nothing I did changed on either my gaming laptop or desktop.

I'm encountering too many people have screen freezes (including myself) that have started just over the last couple of days. Nothing I did here seemed to help. I've even dropped screen resolution, etc. thinking it was just me lagging. I'm starting to think it's a server issue...

I was able to solve my issue (with help from a friend). I am upgrading (a small upgrade) to a faster machine. So he suggested I try cutting and pasting the Piranha folder to the new machine. I used a portable HD and it worked. Some in game settings adjustments and I am good to go.

Maybe this will help someone else. Time for STOMP, STOMP, Daka Daka!

I have been fighting this for a week now. last week it started, I eventually did a clean reinstall to a new folder, everything was fine until yesterday.
I have followed every step of the suggested resolution twice.
also 1 clean reinstall
still stuck I mega patch loop. support ticket sent, no response as yet.

I am wasting valuable premium time not being able to play.
I understand things happen, but this is going on for a bit too long.
maybe its time for a step back and re-evaluate the code before proceeding.

I have been involved since closed Beta, invested several $$$ in this game to much more of this will be intolerable.

I have the same story as Angatai, there are too many of us having this issue to be just a client problem. The problem is PGI they messed up something on their server side and either are unaware of it or do not want to admit it. If your client works fine one time and then stops working the next time and you did nothing, and this happens to a lot of people all in the same time period, about a week ago, then PGI is to blame. There is no other logical explanation. I think all these helpful suggestions about resetting dns ect.. are just a put off from PGI until they fix the real problem.

I just got hit with this garbage bug as well. Attempting steps to resolve now.

Changing my DNS resolved the issue. (I switched it to OpenDNS)

The version client I got is 1.7.7.0
played yesterday no problems, Got this problem first time today. It wanted me to download 6 gigs, at first I was happy and expected it was urbanmech, (he prob would take 6 gigs) but shocked to find no patch notes then I found this thread.

Did flush-no work. Reboot with flush-no work.

Then after a while I just start it up the client says patch shut it off start it up again. On and off about 5 times and Play came out I played a game no problem. (wasn't back to back on and off although that might do the trick it was maybe in a period of 5mins)

Guys if you got this problem I seriously doubt its "YOU" on your end. I think somethings up with them a serverside issue? just shut the client and startup is all I did. :)

UPDATE

Okay, so the instances of this issue that are not being resolved with the software-level steps outlined in the original post are indeed server-related.

We've taken this issue up with the data center, and we hope to have a resolution soon. I will keep everyone updated as often as I can as information becomes available.

A simple way to determine if your particular case is server-related is to head over to this link.

Once there, scroll to the bottom of the page.

If the last entry on that page is not "FrontendPatch_197", then your issue is indeed server related. The software-level fixes mentioned in the OP will not do the trick.

Thanks for the update, I will try it when I get home.
Fingers crossed.

best part is that we know the problem is being worked, and that's enough for me.
for now

.....150109:0800 Addendum.....
came home yesterday after work, booted up,
unexpectedly all problems resolved without further action on my part.

thanks PGI for un-fuddling what ever gremlin was in your system.
back to the long Cue for CW...

For me, Looks like installing to a new Drive worked... That said its no longer on my SSD, and you guys REALY need to work on that patcher. Got pulled out of a game of WOT by the system telling me that MWO had eaten all 30!! Gigs of remaining space on my C drive...... Not cool guys. and once everything is done? Back to a small 7 Gigs.. well, by comparison.

Are we going to receive a Premium time reimbursement while this bug is occurring for those of us that have current premium time units active? I activated a 30 day supply before this bug hit. thank you

Mine had the problem on Saturday. The repair tool found 3 corrupt files which fixed it.

I just experienced this problem today. MWO worked fine last night when I got off at 2am. I got home from work to the patcher needs to update error, but the patcher just said play. So I went through the steps recommended in this entry. I ran the repair tool and it didn't find bad files, it proceeded to remove 64 bit functionality from MWO. ( I was running the 64 bit client.) When it finished I clicked on play again and it told me 64 client was missing from install. I copied my user profiles and cfg and bit the bullet with a fresh download. Frustrating to say the least.

[edit]
Reinstall fixed it.

Update on this issue. I think I found the problem. After reinstalling the game. It worked fine. I logged out to watch OSU win a national championship and when I came back, the same problem was back.

I uninstalled Java RT 64 from my system and now it works every time.

Are there any more updates on this issue, as it seams to still be occurring. I'm currently watching the repair tool reinstall my game client.

Again with patching issues. This time it doesn't show that it needs a patch. I have the 197th one from the list file and when i try and log in it tells me that their is a patch. Please fix these patching issues. I've wasted 2 weeks of premium time now and I have yet to receive a response to my original support ticket.

That didn't help one bit. I see 197 and still have a problem. I have done everything but change dns cause I see absolutely no reason to change that when my isp's dns works fine for every other game out there.

I have flushed dns, ran the repair tool (which corrupted my game files) and I have done a complete reinstall.

If it wasn't for the hundreds of dollars in mech packs, premium time and MC I have spent on this game, I would have already left.

On top of that, I have 114 days of premium time ticking away.
