It is the "official" Awesome Shopped into Canon colors. So its the Awesome you should be looking at. The Awesome has been drawn both Stocky, and somewhat lean. But it has always been a brick. With a wide front facing. Being able to actually aim has hurt a few of the wide Mechs specifically cause its easy to shoot. BUT this is the art you have to work with...
Lord It was High Larryous when I found out how easy it was to pop the pilot in a Catapult. And the hiy boxes had to be made smaller and smaller cause for some reason nobody could believe riding on the nose of the ride made it easy to have yourself killed!
Cataphracts same thing. Center of the chest cockpit, easy kill. I had at one point wracked up 28 "Head shots" in Cataphracts in 10 matches. I turned in a Ticket myself saying it was to easy to kill them!

long story short, the awesome LOOKs awesome, but its barn door geometry is it's biggest problem. They could, and should, scale it down, not much, but just enough that it isn't absurdly enormous.

Hell it could even be in the LT...
But the Pretty Baby makes such an excellent Thug!

I know I know not proper weapon placement but I can suspend disbelief when I want to!

Something along those lines.
Slender, tall, It should look alot more like the Gargoyle IMO.
Why did the MWO Awesome turned out looking like some bulging sumo wrestler with cankles.
aside from the waist, that really is not all that slender

and even by the original art, it was always a moderately bulky machine.
More to the point, it's way too late now. There are several machines that ended up way too dang wide, the Centy and Jagers being prime examples. And the huge thigh gap/child bearing hips they put on every model doesn't help, either.

unless....most of the shoulders were to become the arms. Which makes sense, since the upper shoulders are just the actuator bundles and supports for the arms, and all the "good" stuff sits lower.

but no longer a squat sumo wrestler either.

Make the ERPPCs as fast as Gauss rifles - that way the awesome is a premier long range mech.
Make the PPCs almost as fast as Gauss riles with less range.
Make ERPPCs and PPCs very heat efficient.
And for all Awesomes assign the quirks based on their initial load outs.
Cheers...

And please re-do the Pretty Baby's hardpoint layout. It is so, so terrible.
Well. This line should be REALLY highlighted in ultra violet

PB is probably the most PATHETIC sad mech ever seen. It's not even worth scrapping it sucks so badly.
The other awesomes are no all that bad. Even over mediocre. But notthing near mechs like BNC-E3.
The sad part with all this is I think the Atlas needs lovin more then Awesomes.. In my book it should be
respected not retarted.

Maybe something like this:
RA: 1 Energy (PPC)
LA: 1 Energy (1 LL
RT: 1 missile (LRM15)
LT: 1 Missile (LRM15)
CT: 1 Missile (SRM6)
HD: 2 Energy (2x ML)
Quirks:
-Sensors use only one slot in the head.
-Sensor range -30%
-No left hand actuator (basically give it another right arm)
-LT/RT Structure + 10
-CT Structure + 20
-Energy Weapon Cooldown +20%
-Large Laser Cooldown +20%
-Energy Weapon Range + 15%
-Large Laser Range + 15%
-Energy Weapon Heat Generation -12.5%
-Large Laser Heat Generation -12.5%
-Laser Weapon Duration -15%
-Missile Cooldown +15%
-Torso Pitch/Yaw Speed + 10%
-Turn Rate + 5%

I think all mechs need to be balanced and working in theyr role. I know, tough job.
I have 4 Awesomes but I would not like to see them to UBER.
We have to remember balance will make the game UBER and thats what we want!

I think it is curious that 'lower arm actuators' in general are such significant handicap to game balance since they lower the firing points of mechs with them -and- take up extra crit slots.
Perhaps the over-reliance on high firing points (and the need to 'sneak/ridge-hump out high pinpoint alphas) indicates a general need for game balancing rather than mech reworks.
Stiffer heat penalties/promote high heat efficiency/damage over time builds please?

This looks terrible in just about every way. I think it would actually make the Awesome worse.
Any kind of model change needs to be sleight. Like 10% thinner and 10% taller, with the shoulder guards being 10% wider to deflect shots away from the side torsos.
