just stating that if its locked it may lead to some problems, for example,
if the nova gets its head slot and 3 of each side torso locked, 3 slots left,
thats 3DHS you can no longer place in the ST, only 1DHS can be mounted now,
yes you get 2.5 tons more, but its at the cost of 4DHS, thats my fear,

that's called a "tradeoff"

Some would argue being as wide as an Assault is also a trade off...

Something fair would be needed.

(24Tons!) 4AC2U(75Shots) Troll BUILD!!!, would be Awesome,

+8 structure for arms and sidetorsi, +15 for CT.
10% accel, and break buff.

done, thats a fair tradeoff for atlas wideness and yet will not outclass the SCR.

I'm soon done with my concept odf buffing the nova corect, I just need to recheck the result by comparing it with the other mechs to really be a fair result.

One can hardly fairly balance Clan Tech, and determine what if any tweaks DOWN the Trinity needs until there is a semi-even playing field for Omnimechs in general.

Simply put, any nerfs to Clan Tech put in place now, seem to scarcely affect hose 3, but continue to drive the second class chassis even further into Mech Poverty. And because they are not balanced against themselves, it is all but impossible to really balance between Clan and IS.

...

Couldn't agree more! I've actually taken the time to look through all the current Omnimechs and see where fixed Ferro Fibrous and or Endo Steel 'upgrades' could be placed without interfering with JJs and Hardpoints of future (not yet released) Omnipods. I may have gone a little too far by suggesting engine upgrades (not freely switchable, but one up/downgradable to one other engine rating). I was deemed mad for that suggestion, but i still believe that neither of the Trinity would gain anything by my proposal, but many other clan mechs would. And without clan to clan balancing there will never be a clan to IS balancing... Read more here if you care to spend some time on it...

Dunno. The DW with a 400 still packs 37 tons of pod space, while a TW with a 300 also has about 37. The SC doesn't get quite as nice, as 5 tons of podspace may not be worth the loss of mobility, but I could see a lot of potential for the other two (if I understood your proposal correctly, which I may not have)

Not saying it would be broken, but it worries me more.

the problem is, on a nova the ES hardly makes any sense because no matter where you put it you can not really make use of the additional tonnage. except you are trying to put any kind of AC into the mech, but that is still a pointless undergunned mech even with ES.

otherwise make a valid Nova in the mechlab leave the 7 slots open and tell us where and for what you would use those +2,5tons.

so only a very very low amount of vuilds, like 2 Large lasers or 2 PPC's would make use of that for spme DHS, but the most buidls will still have giant issues, literally as giant as the mechs size.

With a 400 XL the Direwolf would loose 18tons of pod space which is more than two AC/5s or one Gauss with Ammo. And it's still a fairly easy to hit mech, given it's size. I don't think it would make it any stronger, there could be some interesting builds with it, I suppose.

Isn't the combination of speed AND firepower what makes the Timberwolf so dangerous? I may be totally wrong on this one, but adding more firepower to the Timberwolf (making heat management more of an issue) and removing 16kph seems less desireable than what it has to offer now, to me.

The one concern i have however is if gifting ES and FF to a Hellbringer would make this ECM heavy the new king of clan mechs.

Edit: Also upgrades would make having more than one variant of a certain mech more interesting.

Combined with an XL 300 the Nova may be good (see my suggestion mentioned above). It still has low slung arms and 5 fixed JJs so it will never be tier 1.

depending on construction ruls an XL 300 would be great, and it would again (if we would be allowed to put DHS in the engine) free soem slots.

but we do not know how much pgi woudl allow any changes, but maybe freeing omnimechs from most restrictions bug giving them more tighteer engine restrictions would be nice. would use a 195 in the nova, put one DHS in and it would be a fine mech. not scr level, but give the nova some more vital speed and the sieeffects of this comign with, which it really could need.

mechs like the Nova, Summoner, Mad Dog and such would gain so much, from such a minor amount more of available tonnage.
Agreed! Just think of how sad those mechs are right now (imagines sad faces on each of them) for being underlings when in BT they are really great mechs in not only looks but also in performance and badassery! If not more tonnage, they sure can get something else to improve them with a good and fair margin. Improved quirks could help for sure.

Locked equipment is a dumb idea to begin with, how are you going to balance IS Omnis? What about Clan BattleMechs?

It's an issue that is particularly unique to the Warhawk. All of the current omnis that have Ferro would likely want to keep it (they tend to have huge engines, or already have low usable tonnage and mostly want more). While 2 tons for the Warhawk would be nice, it's not really making or breaking builds and isn't really what's the biggest obstacle for Warhawk builds and I'm pretty sure there are very few Warhawk builds that could actually use both Endo and Ferro. So personally I'm not really fussed either way, it would be "nice to have" but really it wouldn't change much.

To fit endo on the Warhawk for most builds, you'd have to downgrade from FF to standard armor. And keeping a similar armor level (you'd actually be able to squeeze in 8 more points) you'd only gain 1 ton of pod space over the current Warhawk.

If you kept both on, you'd have plenty of extra weight, but not enough crit space to use 6-10 tons of it.

The real issue with the Warhawk is the 10 tons of locked heat sinks that keep it from boating Gauss Rifles like a boss.

And because of ghost heat and 1.4 heat sinks, it is barely able to boat 2 ER PPCs, let alone the 4 it comes with stock.

Decent builds tend to use Large Pulse lasers in place of the ER PPCs. 50% less heat, 100% less travel time.

I think the Warhawk is probably first among losers when it comes to the clan mechs. I've been having fun in mine.

It's an issue if you make it an issue. ;)

My pre-PPC nerf prime.
My post-PPC nerf prime.
My future fun build.

Sure, Dual Gauss would be fun. It's not the end of the world.

I tend to go more brawler, with a mind towards CW.

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...7c47c58331d8868

Could get 4 SRM6 in place of the streaks, but then heat becomes a concern, as well as pesky lights.

On top of Endo unlocks, the Prime right torsos of Summoner, Mist Lynx and Warhawk need some quality of life energy hard points added. just one for each of them would make a world of difference. They've taken this "canon" hard point configuration nonsense way too far on some of these omnimechs.

I'd do this or this for brawling.

The WHK-CT E hardpoint is a step in the right direction.

I would really REALLY love some torso mounted energy solution for the Summoner - the torso mounts are fantastically high but sniping with on UAC is pointless leaving gauss as your only option. 2x CERPPCs or CLPs in the torsos would radically alter the Summoner's ability to poke/snipe and maximize JJs.
