Since Grand Dragon is nothing more than upgraded Dragon chassis and the same goes for COM-5S, PGI does not have to design new mechs from scrap while enlarging the mech selection.

Granted, the upgraded versions do not have any noticeable hardpoint differences compared to the old versions--except Grand Dragons have energy slots on right and left torso, and has higher engine rating--but PGI had done hardpoint inflation to differentiate mechs; Grasshopper being a good example. Perhaps making Grand Dragon variants to have better laser vomit potential or shift the missile hardpoint to a slot where it can fit larger launchers.

There lies the question though: If PGI releases DRG-1G, DRG-5K, and COM-5S with slightly different/inflated hardpoints, would you buy them?

Commando: nope. They're just no good, you see.

Dragon: Also probably nope. I already have 3, and I only have that many because I needed them for mastery.

Just buff/rework the current dragons into the Grand Dragon.

Commando, I mean you can put that build on the commando now so...why bother?

Hence I specifically mentioned about hardpoint inflation, and Grasshopper. <_<

Gotta wait until 3053 for that one.

I'm not feeling it. The Grand Dragon, doesn't feel all that different than a DRG-1C or Flame. The missile upgrade option wont work due to the CT critical space. As for the Commando, it doesn't seem functionally different that the ones we have, except for the new technology they haven't developed.

At this point I would prefer they polish what they have, including upgrading textures and dynamic weapons on the remaining mechs (not to mention the whole CW thing).

mmmmmmm....would love me a Grand Dragon. Always one of my favorite Heavies. 97 kph stock? 106 with speed tweak? Can mount up to a 400XL?

With Dragon level quirks? E hard points in both ST and the arms? Tier 5 mech quirks? 2 high torso mount ST energy hardpoints? ER PPC love?

I dig it.

I would buy the Grand Dragon...my CW role playing decks will needz them. Especially if they considered it a Dragon chassis for skills. I'd rather not have to skill up three more Dragons.

That being said, I doubly needz my Hatamoto variants first.

I could just imagine that mech wheezing and huffing & puffing across the map...that fat ******* got two giant Chipotle burritos on his back.

I'd take the grand dragon, like it.
If it comes with proper ER-PPC and energy quirks

Grand Crusader just for warming my silent Blakist heart ;)

Grand dragons are Dragons too.

Me? I want to see the Venom. Count it as a Spider.

2 variants are fine. The Grand Dragon is just equipment upgraded regular Dragons. Therefore the chassis size and hitboxes are exactly the same. PGI can just add those two variants on top of the Dragon variants we got.

Great points El.

But since I am a Lyran Player I won't be buying a Kurita Mech ...Unless Its packaged with a superior Lyran Built mech as well. ;)

FYI The Commando does not count. As any true Blue Blooded Lyran knows, The Commando is Battle Armor!

you could strip your talas and put a grand dragon on top of it. Then you have a Lyran emch armed with a grand dragon.

Sounds interesting....there's only one flaw.....it CAN'T be 3050.

In the Battletech Timeline, by 3050, the following things have shaped the Inner Sphere before the Clan Invasion:

- Hanse Davion marries Melissa Steiner
- The Federated Suns and Lyran Commonwealth combine to become the Federated Commonwealth
- The 4th Succession war starts and ends

Those things seem to be rather important......well, everywhere but Canada, I guess.

And contaminate my Superior Lyran Machine with slimy Snake materials? Preposterous!
