Of course, if you try to be a fast killing machine like a Jenner or a FIrestarter, you will have troubles... and pain.
But as a fast support, they're really good.
Don't have any Adder though, so i can't tell if they're as good as Kit Foxes.

The issue is light mechs normally live from carrying lighter lasers, unfortunately the clanmediums are not good lasers, because they are heat inefficient. and the clanlights cna not cool this. together with the missing speed for dodging shots they diealso rather quick compred to IS lights.
this makes clanlights basically to mechs for hill and cornerpopping, which is still dangerous with this lo amount of hitpoints.
then you have the mist lynx, which is not soooo slow, yte it suffers from a few things:
Only weapons in the arms, which is just not good. and here we do not even talk about the arms being realyl big as well.
With ecm, the remaining weapon hardpoints are also bad
6 fixed JJ's and the clan active probe. or: 4tons (that is 16% of the mech). but this is not a good loadout, a light mehc doesn't needs a probe at this tonnage, it could invest this better, and 2 JJ's or 2 would be enough.
And so the MLX is extremely suboptimal in its have to go loadout
If we had a TT like battlevaules equalised between all sides, they would make good support mechs, but in a game where you can bring only a limited amount of mechs you need to bring the good things.

fun, yes but they are not realyl efficient mechs at all, ye I enjoy my adder a lot. the emch sounds great, looks great.
use them as escorts and not scouts, and they're efficient.
now the mist lynx....don't get me started. fun, but completely worthless.

Slap an Ultra AC10 with some small lasers and I often kill assaults with it.

Unlike the IS lights that can pretty much play solo without any support from the team and be successful, you have to play a support role for them to be useful.
Keep the lights off your assaults ass, and give them a heads up, thats your job.
Kitfox being the more useful of the two, keeping ECM going for your guys in the rear and shooting back so the enemy can't get clear shots will be much more rewarding to your team's victory than you trying to play rambo in a 30 ton mech and getting blown apart in the first few minutes of the match to leave your slower mechs with no rear defense.

^ This. And for this role, they're really good.

They are light mechs with light mech armor moving at 107 kph, which strips them of most of their viability. The only reason to ever use them is saving weight in CW because you want a DW or 2 TBRs. All in all they are just disgustingly bad mechs.

No they are not. Even if you count "support" as a valid role, clan mediums do it better in every single way, aside of maybe bringing tripple AMS on the kitfox. And that's it. The HBR has stripped the kitfox of his role as sole clan ECM mech, taking away even more of his use.

then why stop there? why not make every match nothing but 100 assaults?

because a stalker is not a catapult, they both have their individual roles, but the clanners don't. this comes mostly by the ratehr unified speeds that clnanners ahve and the omnipods giving too many mechs the same hardpoints. and by this the heavier mech is most often just better (when it has ES + FF as well) IS mechs just differ due to hardpointss, their locations and engine ratings available.

swap uac/20 for a gauss rifle and you get a range bonus
it's funny to watch people panic and flail about when you blast them with a UAC/20
mildly effective if you care about winning i guess

107kph for light when a SC does 107kph , Dragon 1N does 107kph , even a TW does 89kph
Carry alot of firepower?? Raven 3L 3 lasers and two SRM 6s , Jenner 6 med lasers , Fire Stater 8 lasers , even a comando has 3 missle slots or the tiny hitbox spiders with large lasers.
40 - 60 kph speed advantage with smaller hitboxes and equal or more firepower the IS lights dominate the field.
people who ***** about clans being OP haven't played the game much or play poorly and stood in front of a direwolf for too long and died. Clans were slightly OP at first PGI nerfed the good ones and then screwed up and quirked the IS way too far.
Why do we play with Adder ?? Because we have too if playing clan.

Combat Kitty vs Jenner F
Armor - 28 legs alpha on Jenner is 30dmg thus 1-2 shots your legged for the killing
Speed 106.9 vs 152.7 = 45.8 kph slower
Kitty does have ECM but to a laser boat Jenner that makes no difference.
A Jenner can run circles around your Combat Kitty like a Dragon does around a Direwolf.

Support is a truly valid role, and Clan Mediums pack enough fire power to be hitters instead of support, plus none have ECM yet. HBR has an ECM but with the current domination of Heavy chassis this days, you need those in front line.
The small shape of the Kit-Fox make it a unfocused target loaded with a consequent firepower.

But the Kit-Fox should never be dueling a Jenner. One Stormcrow can keep a pack of IS Lights at bay. And while the Jenner is doing rodeo all over the map, the Kit-Fox is covering his team mates under his ECM and putting some nasty shots on wounded oponents in the big fight.
