And simply pushing the R key gives us a red square to put your cross hairs in that allows our weapons to still be trained on the enemy smoking up my vision... I'm Still NOT having a problem with obscured vision guys cause of this guys.

Please, Joe, you're not funny anymore. <_<

Just because you have a red box does not mean you auto hit anything within it aiming anywhere in the box.
The box outlines a box containing both a Mech and empty space plus each Mech profile is different so you have to know the Mech profiles to know where to shoot. Shooting center mass is not always desirable, sometimes you want to leg people, sometimes blow off arms or side torsos.

The box just gives you a general idea where they are is all, it does not compensate for the false realism whined for.

trouble is if you take your suggestion at face value, the guys at the back target, aim at the red triangle and shoot, not caring that there is two hills and the rest of their team in the way because someone told them to fire at the red triangle.

Its like being told to hold fire until you can see the white of their eyes, only to late discovering the foe's eyes are bloodshot ;)

To not derail though, the Fx are a feature and yup I loath them at times, but its something you deal with if your under fire and getting hit , then it ...should...be a lot harder to return fire..to not have this would make it far to easy..

Well that is the part where awareness comes in. I see blue Doritos near the red square I know I have to be careful. There is a point when we have to be willing to do a little grey matter exercise. And lets face it there was a big debate way back about whether to include friendly fire or not. I was a missile boat then and I voted for. I have 3 maybe 4 accidental team kills since I joined... Probably died the same number of times to accidental friendly fire as well.

We are supposed to loathe them in my eyes. It is a game with giant war machines firing Large Scale Weapons Our world should be rocked. Many a story is colored with pilots getting shook around and bruised by the restraining harness. Do we get that sitting in our cushy computer chairs? I'd totally love some D-Box seating for my MW:O. Add some more immersion! LOL running 100KpH on uneven ground and never ever stumbling?

You should always be near cover. always ready to back around a corner, duck behind a pillar, a rock or whatever. always be ready to break LOS.

In an ideal situation... yes.

The point is that you have a red box.... and if you are being hit with fire from that mech, you return fire the best you can to the center of that box....safest bet, (who is gonna worry about taking a leg off a mech while he is making you blind with fire?) and if you do it right he backs off and takes cover and stops making you have a bad day. Very simple concept.....and in case studies 60% of the time, it has been proven to work every time. ;)

And you cannot center the crosshairs? You should NEVER EVER have no chance to miss unless you are firing homing missiles and even then... Good use of terrain can gobble those up. And If you are being hammered by enemy fire what you want and what you can get are most definitely different things. Sorry but I am not trying to be funny I'm trying to make ya see the flaw in your own logic.

And the rest of the time you need to be ready to take your lumps while you get back to an Ideal situation!

The particle effects in this game only really bother me for one significant (more or less) reason, which is frame-rate drops. (Not that I have great FPS to begin with, average around 25-35 on a good day)
Not being able to see the enemy? Well, I still have my target to shoot at. I know enough about him to shoot back in his general direction and hit with most (more or less) of my shots.

So, I personally do not think there is any need for altering the game's appearance. If anything, it needs a training program or something of the sort for newcomers to learn how to deal with these situations. Because, let us not kid ourselves, it is going to happen to all of us (who play the game long enough, mind you) and knowing how to cope is never a bad thing. ;)

If you can't fire back at your enemy cause you're too dumb to shoot into the red box infront of you....just uninstall.
If you play in constant arm lock...uninstall.
If you're so derp tastic that you have to use third person, for anything...uninstall.

I'm confused about the OP post. Is he/she talking about the FX that you can turn off in advanced video settings? Cause, well, that would be the fix...
