Because I want to boat them on a whale. That is all.

Unless PGI allows crit-splitting, the OP wouldn't be able to get any Long Toms onto any 'Mech.
- Long Tom Cannon (both IS & Clan): 20 tons & 15 criticals
- Sniper Artillery Cannon (both IS & Clan): 15 tons & 10 criticals
- Thumper Cannon (both IS & Clan): 10 tons & 7 criticals
The Long Tom, at 15 criticals for both the IS & Clan models, is too bulky to fit within any single section of a 'Mech (which would have, at most, 12 criticals available), so it cannot be fitted to a 'Mech without crit-splitting.
The Sniper & Thumper, being small enough to fit into a single 'Mech section (unlike the Long Tom), would make for more realistic goals on which to focus the OP's request.

yup would not mind seeing a tactical option against death balls
Besides just being derp, that's part of the reason I made the thread. AoE options (so long as these weapons actually have arc and travel slowly enough that they aren't pathetically easy to use) would be very welcome during massive deathballs on maps with confined spaces.

I would definitely like to see Long Toms, but Boreal Vault and Sulfurous rift would have to be completely redesigned if the Long Tom had any value.
How do you see the firing mechanism though? Would it be like a modern cannon, where you just point and fire and the targeting computer sorts out the trajectory? Or would it be like Bang Bang!, Worms and Scorched Earth, where you aim, click and hold to determine the trajectory and velocity of the shell? The latter would be necessary for indirect fire. And Long Toms without indirect fire would be sacrilege.

I know, they are 1000% better, you get to carry full tonnage allocation in equipment in addition to your pocket LongTom.
