Greetings Mechwarriors.

I am finding my Jagers lacking seriously after the quirks changes.

I only have experience with the Jagers with Dual Gauss and I stopped playing them
months ago. They explode way to fast and driving them without XL engine is a no
go for me.

I think the recharging timer on Gauss is way to slow.

Is it fine with AC20? Is the gauss to fragile?

What do you guys running similar builds think?

Regards,
C&C

Dual AC20 jagermechs have been around for a good while and can be absolutely devastating, but I prefer to brawl in mine. I think the firebrand makes an exceptional brawler. With an AC20 and a brace of medium lasers you have solid fire power and an arm and side torso to use as a shield that can absorb a very respectable amount of pain. you can still fit a pretty fast standard engine as well, fast enough keep your torso spinning quickly and convince your enemies that they should shoot for that side torso you were giving them.

Give it a try, good luck!

Yeah looks like I have to do some changes.

At least the dual gauss is not working out for me atm. Even tho thats the play style I like the most.

Actually i enjoy my JMS-S with quad AC2.

With basic 0.72 cooldown it lower it with quirk (-15%) and fast fire (-5%) it shot's every 0.576 seconds.

0.72-(0.108)-(0.036)=0.576

Which should mean 13,8 dps, pinpoint with 864 range (1728 max range). I know, it's a bit hot, but really manageble and, even if not competitive, it's lot of fun and more effective than other builds. Keep in mind that you're really frail and have to stare your victims till the end, so use the assaults for the tanks that they are and let them eat enemy bullets/lasers/missiles!

(what i run:

JMS-S Quad AC2

I know, XL260 is bad... i just had it taking dust and used it instead buying a new one =P)

I have a lot of fun with my Blunderbuss. It is a light/medium wrecker. 260xl with 4mlas and 2lbx10s. Not very good against heavier mechs until later in the match when armor is a little more open. The biggest key to its success is never being the most dangerous mech in the enemies view because it is squishy.

2 great Jager builds... I LOL playing these..

6x MG 2x ERPPC

2x AC20 2x ERPPC (2x 60 point alphas, hope that kills whatever is in front of you, if not they generally back off, you are slow though)

I see alot of Jagers not making use of their high mount ballistic arms. They are there for a reason. Also the Jager is excellent mech on he flanking side.

I have learned my house mate how to effectively use the Jager on all fronts. A mixed up Jager builld works the best. When my house mate plays he is always found to be on the flanks (most of the time a but separated from group) and is always surpressing fire, making the enemy draw back a perfect chance to get another flank from the remaining group.

You would not expect this from a Atlai pilot, ha.

There is dual A/C 10s or 20s, 3 Ultra 5s, pairs of A/C5s and 2s. Tons of good loadouts, all high mounted and running XL. I don't see the Jager lacking.

If ANYTGING, THE Cataphract has suffered worse than the Jager. The Cataphract has low slung arms and a squishy CT.

Well, I run dual AC20s, on setup with dual guass, and another set up with mixed ACs. Usually 2 uac5 and 2 ac2s.

I have enjoyed the old Victor build, 2x AC/5+2x PPC on my Firebrand after quirks, quite effective hillhumper indeed! :)

Still love it with 2x Gauss, 2x MLas. Just that whole "being patient" and let the team advance thing that will getcha. Can very, very, very easily trade with Timbers and Hellbringers with that thing, if they are configured for range and not brawling - though that is the case against most IS mechs, too.

Lasers can be very easily smeared with torso twists, and at most they will be bringing a single Gauss, so you can double their pleasure while drilling their CT. I bust out the ol' Jager when I want a change of pace, as I love the gameplay of a heavy with double goose.

I really wish the Jager-S had AC5 quirks, instead of AC2. :(

Drop in this with the UAC-5 cooldown module, tank your left side, and dakka for profit.
Stick an AMS on there too if you feel like it, you have enough ammo to last with 240 rounds so it works out.

*oops screwed up armor dist.

The AC2 quirks are just a slap in the face with ghostheat!

Never a fan of all eggs one basket builds D. Lose that one arm and you are a target basically.

I just added a Jager-DD to my drop deck yesterday, 2 x ERLL, 2x UAC/5, and in one wave while defending Omega I gunned down four Clanners in a row right at the generator.

High speed sustained firepower, exactly when it was most needed.

Seems to be working fine to me.
