Fine, I'll find a macro to hold down my PTT for me and find another program that sets my microphone threshold separately, whatever it takes. I can't just be holding down a bloody key when I'm trying to report how many of what kind of mechs with what loadouts I just ran into while I'm trying to evade them and live while also putting damage on them and also probably putting up a UAV or landing a strike, or both... especially when I don't have any keys left on my keyboard to map that are within hand's reach without having to actually move my hand out of place.

Some people know how to use a microphone, you know. =P

P.S. N-Key Rollover - I already run into problems with that without having to use a PTT key.

How hard is it to bind your PTT key to left ctrl and just use your pinky whenever you need to talk? How about we drop in a one on one with the same mechs and I'll keep my pinky down on the left ctrl button and prove to you anyone who is solid can still pilot a mech effectively while pushing a button to talk?

Everyone who has tried to use voice activation eventually has bleed over no matter their filters. It's not cool. It's annoying. You are lazy.

I like it.

And I use my left control and alt keys as PTT for different features. Just a suggestion.

PTT should always be the standard.

And remember the military standard. Think, Breath, Key (PTT) THEN Speak.

And yea once they get it integrated people will need to learn comms procedures.

And for the love of all that is holy, unholy or not holy, as you chose; learn the NATO phonetic alphabet.

Hearing someone screaming, which should never happen; pumpkin while someone else is yelling pepper gets both confusing and annoying.

Left Ctrl bound to toggle armlock.
Left Shift bound to Zoom. (Z bound to reset Zoom)
Capslock bound to 3pv
E bound to increment throttle up (W bound to full throttle)
Left Alt can't be used because I need that thumb for both space bar and left click.

There are no keys left that are both comfortable to reach and not already in fairly heavy use.

They're lazy because they didn't set it up properly. =P Voice activation isn't that hard if you have a quality device, a quiet environment, and a little patience. It's also nice to have a button that you can switch on and off the mic if you know you aren't going to be using your voice for a while, mine is above F3, but I can still use it when I know I'm going to cough, sneeze, type exuberantly, walk away and bump things, sigh, yawn, etc.

We'll simply have to agree to disagree, because we both have obviously used two different approaches to the point that we're extremely comfortable with them.

Also, don't forget the venerable foot switch, search for USB foot switch on Google and you can find tons of cool, cheap USB foot switches for PTT, muting the channel (especially good if you are on TS AND in-game VOIP), and other functions.

Sounds like those that have used TS and know all the people not using PTT are quickly ostracized for breathing, chewing, coughing, etc are very supportive of only PTT for this feature, so I don't have to mute this, I hope Piranha reads and heads this thread!

Thanks for the responses!

I like the idea of PTT as well much as I like the option of turning it off all together. PTT will stop the annoying chewing and the sounds of someone drinking something.

The biggest offenders are those with dogs and hearing them bark in the background or children/babies, and or brothers, sisters, & or parents(depending on if they are young or living with parents ;) ).

so over all I like it.

We need a setting for mic sensitivity. I notice when I try to say something in real-time my mic will not register until I say the first word. If you could remove the Voice Activation on the PTT please. Would solve my problem.
