While I prefer Teamspeak and Skype, I will utilize whatever I need to in order for my group/group that I join to be able to communicate efficiently.

I am hoping they will put in-game voip in. Planetside 2 is doing a good job with this, their system is similar to how you would set up a TS/Vent channel. With leaders of Outfits(guilds/clans) being able to set up a chain of command. Example, The overall commander can communicate with everyone, the squad leaders can communicate with their squad, and their squad mates, and the squadmates just eachother. This is an example for organized gameplay but for random pubs I think it would be useful too. I would like to play public games and still have some basic communication.

I agree. I'm not planning on setting up vent ts3 mumble and whatever else crawls out of the woodwork for comm in a pug. If i play 20 matches in randoms its doubtful how many times I'm going to run into the same person same TS3 server Vent or whatever twice in those 20 matches.

I don't usually talk on those sorts of things but i do know how to ignore unwanted chatter while using an ingame VOIP solution.

My intention was more to champion mumble, than to find what people were going to use, but you are right in that I hate when people tac on superfluous language to poll options so I edited them. I do hope people take a second look at mumble, and or consideration rather than just go with the popular choice.

Sometimes things are popular because they work. Teamspeak has really held up over the years. I can't imagine a mech force being organized without it.

That being said, I gave Dolby AXON a look just now and I gotta say, for a small group it might be perfect for a lance or even a company. Sound quality is real good, not much of a performance hit on my bandwidth. I will have to actually play with it in game and with many people before I could say it can handle a heavy load but no server appears to be required and you can set up permanent channels.

TS3. It has better quality, file sharing and multiple server connections. That and i have been using it since 2004 when it was TS2.

I still hope they will put it in game voice function. I just don't want to have to pay to play with people on a free to play game.

same since most players wont be spending as much time with the same lance mates for each match and each match wont last long compared to say a MMO group event except a PvP match perhaps messing around with different channels for each match would be a pain. also many people don't like to form guilds or cant be bothered setting one up. having it so yore lance mikes up automaticley would be handy you could also make it so lance leaders are able to communicate between each other creating a command structure.

I have Mumble, TS3 and raidcall on my comp. Even use RC and TS at same time (RC for guild, TS for friend). Bit confusing, but working :D.

Raidcall has the bonus, that its complete free. And my guild used it when i joined them. So i had no choice. But mumble had the best overhead window, and has a good quality.

Hope it's built in, no good reason it shouldn't be.

I'll be on my gaming community's TS3 server. I've used TS3 for a long time and have been happy with it. If there is anyone else considering it, remember that you can host a server on your own PC and it was free as long as it wasnt being used for commercial/profit. Not 100% sure if that has changed.

For those worried about 'spies', just setup the channel permissions correctly and that should never be an issue.

Ditto on this. It's an awesome server with some great gamers on it. Should be excellent for teamplay.

If VOIP isn't implemented into the game, I would hope that something like VGS is. I had really good results using it in SMITE. It gives short and clear orders and takes 3 button presses. Once it gets used a couple of times the whole team starts using it, so in my experience it works well with pubs.

Also Skype is free for anyone so no one can really complain about not having access to any VOIP.
