Cw: Using Regular Maps, And Clan Balance

But a big issue seems to be the complicated nature of Invasion mode itself, which generally seems to favor defenders over attackers, and often has one(counter) attacking despite having been recruited to "defend." So, two quick ideas:
1. Why not use the regular maps--which you've spent years honing--in either Assault or Capture mode, for the majority of battles on a planet? You could pull 3-4 maps/terrain types per planet (corresponding to canon descriptions). Then, the massive "Invasion" map would always be the site of the final battle to decide control. It seems a little odd that every fight is a fight over bases, walls, orbital guns (and a little odd that you would not use the vast stable of maps built up already). To me, CW is more about playing for greater impact than the Deathmatch we've had to date--i.e., affecting the IS map--and not tied to a specific game mode.
2. Despite earlier impressions, CW is revealing that the Clans are not as well-balanced as you/PGI thought. Mixed in on teams with IS 'mechs and no weight restrictions is one thing; quite another is having 12-man teams where both Clans and IS have the same weight cap--although the Clan machines have greater speed, weapons range, and can carry more firepower. Capping Clan teams to two Stars (10 'mechs) would be one solution; increasing the IS weight limit to say 300 tons would be another.

2) No, I'd say Clan Mechs are fine. The Timber/Crow are awesome, but most of the Clan repertoire is junk. The Inner Sphere has even more powerful mechs at their disposal, the problem is getting people to use them. Many IS pilots would rather take XL Atlases over Raichu Thunderbolts.

The new "Skirmish" mode for counter-attacking is coming in Februray, not Tuesday.

My unit usually beats our Clan opponents even though we are far away from what is considered meta game.
What I have to complain about is that planets flip far too fast. With one day in real life being one day in game its ridiculous that a planet is turned in only one day. I would like to see that factions would have to undergo long campaigns to take a planet.

I want same stuff that you are smoking...
Every "IS player" should try clans before QQ'ing how OP they are.
PS. I have played both sides and honestly these thunderbolts and few other hyper quirked mechs feel more bang for buck than clan mechs.

My thoughts exactly, perfect balance is impossible, unless you force everyone to use identical mechs.

Everything else we have is T3 or worse. DW is T1 but useless due to its slow speed and no agility. You can build a drop deck out of lights, Novas and Warhawks but these mechs are to bad you shoot yourself in your own leg if you pick them. We have some great Mechs but most of the rest is T4. IS players will see more drop decks once our other Mechs at at least somehow viable.
So, we use SCR/TW because everything else is simply a no-go. IS doesn't play poorly quirked Mechs as well, so why should we? The difference is, there are 15+ valid IS heavy loadouts on 5 or so chassis. We only have TBR, SCR and HBR. Don't blame us for not having anything else, it was not our call for things to be this way. Tweet Russ if you want faster fix.

Russ' townhall meeting from last week, that aired on Twitch.
There IS a January 20th patch, and it includes Mixed-Unit-Same-Faction Groups for CW and some other crap.
