For really easy chop jobs, you can use the Imgur "Video to Gif" feature. Just link a video, whether it be an .mp4 file or straight from someone's YouTube video, and you can single out a maximum of 15 seconds of footage to just turn into a gif. Loses some quality in the process converting to .gifv/.gif formats, but it's usually not that noticeable.

There, I just gave you a small glimpse at the wonders of gif making.
