F my life !!!

Urbie or New Summoner !!!!!!

Should i resort to panhandling?
Easy.
Urbanmech.

The summoner isn't going anywhere, while the urbs has time window to get funded.
Throw in your money for the Urbie now, to help ensure its existence, and pick up the summoner later.

$20 for a PoS.

Sorry I understand the joke of Urban Awesomeness, but its a PoS. If a Stock Mech button hinges on blackmail, I'd rather not have it. <_<
Russ said if it's in, he'd push for a stock option in private matches, but nothing stops you doing that now.

Calm down. Urbie soon :)

Logic dictates that this sale should be an epic failure, why anyone who doesn't have some weird nostalgia ***** for a terrible mech is beyond me. I think this will be an interesting test of how much the forums represent a large slice of the game's audience, because outside the nostalgia ***** people, no one would waste real money on this mech. Now clearly nostalgia is a helluva drug for some. Plus there are clearly OCD completionists and people who just buy anything new for a game. I am legitimately intrigued on how this sale will shape up. I mean how many people are going to spend real money on a mech that won't be seen much if at all 2 weeks after it drops. But then again Pt Barnum said one is born every minute and this sale will give a good test of whether that is still true.
Thankfully either way we won't need to hear about this silly urban mech one way or the other after this. Either it proves that no one outside a forum vocal minority wants it, or it comes out and we don't see them 2 weeks after the drop. Then at least people can talk about something else rather than rubbing at their nostalgia boners over this useless mech.

Tbf sinking 40 bucks into Urbies is the same thing as buying a Gold Mech Package.

It's not about the mech, it's about supporting PGI with what you can afford and want to afford.

I am currently very happy with the way things are going and started buying MC and packages again. (Coming from other online games: For 14/28 with alt account bucks a month you can already buy some nice things in MW:O)

Hence I very likely grab at least the standard variant urbie pack (maybe the 40 bucks one if I decide against the Resistance pack).

Not because the mech is good. It's cute, it's awesome that PGI decided to give us the most useless POS mech there is, just because: The community said so.

Keep it going, PGI, you are heading the right direction.

1. Russ mentioned in town hall that large sale numbers of the Urbanmech would give serious weight to adding a 'stock mech' button in the 12 v 12 queue. (12 v 12 stock Urbie battles would be awesome was his reasoning if i remember correctly. Which they would)

2. One of the major issues with MWO which keeps being brought up is the steep learning curve for new players.

A stock mech queue would instantly reduce the steepness of said learning curve.

So come on everyone. Fork out $20 for the noobs. I mean who can't afford $20? :D

Personally I hate stock mechs, and think it's a terrible reason to buy urbanmech. However will be buying urbanmech so that urbanmech gets made.

Funny how PGI ignores a lot of things that the community wants that don't involve people spending real money.

"Buy" an Urbie??? BUY????

If given one I will sell it.

If paid to take one, I'd count the zeros on the check before deciding... then sell it for it's mech bay.

The Urbanmech, while not exactly an 'optimized' 'mech in tabletop standards, is NOT the worst tabletop 'mech out there.

BEHOLD, the Locust LCT 1M.

Armed with a pair of LRM 5 launchers with one ton of ammo. That's it.

BUT WAIT!! It get's better!

The locust, in order to field this armament, had to sacrifice *THREE TONS OF ARMOR PROTECTION*...

Meaning, It had *ONE POINT* of armor on each leg, and each arm.

Yes. You read that right.

Machine guns tore this 'mech up. God forbid an LRM or SRM launcher landed a hit. Don't even get me started on the dangers that Small Lasers posed to this little abomination of a battlemech. If you were unfortunate enough to own or pilot this thing, I have one thing to say. Welcome to Crits-ville, population: YOU.

So before you start screaming that the Urbanmech is the worst 'mech out there. Allow me to say: Slow your roll there spark plug. There are WAY worse 'mechs I can pull out of the hat such as the Locust above.

<S> Hopefully that was somewhat educational.

-Colonel Andrew "Havoc" Davis
Death's Hand Brigade Mercenaries

At least the locust is faster than an elemental, and elementals are running with help from power armor....

EDIT:

I do hope you ALL realize that this is a flat out money grab for a terrible mech with a cult following. It will not result in a stock mech mode, unless you are talking about an option in a private lobby. There will be no "stock" queue. That was not the onus of the discussion.

Additionally, the only benefit would be you would all have a trashcan in the corner of your mechlab that you occasionally waddled out to fire an AC10 round or 2 before you got mega zapped by 12 mechs who ran across the entire map before you got out of your spawn location.

Be realistic. Urbanmech has *never* been a good mech, it was always a hilarious novelty at best, and a death trap shaped like a trashcan for the unfortunate piliot at worst.

I agree with the sentiment of this is a gold mech type purchase, but I hope it sells like crazy
No MW game vs MW game

Edit:
I'm still surprised they haven't released the Piranha, it's fast enough for Clan to have speed, 20T great for drop deck, and it's got the same friggin name. Special Edition Piranha Games Piranha!

Perfect example of why this is a hostage IP. Give us money or the Battlemechs get it. I often wonder why they don't just straight out say it because there are clearly many folks who will pay them just to keep the servers up and not even have to waste the time to make digital assets.

I think Russ is using this not as a hostage move but just as he said, a way to see if what the majority has been asking for is really truthful or not. So if we really do want the urbie, then they will be more serious about other things that the majority keep asking for that they really aren't sure if we are truthful about or not.

You should have stopped at "Logic". UrbanMech is not about logic, it's about fun and seeing something the community requested actually get implemented in-game, which bodes very well for the development of the PGI/MWO/playerbase relationship.

It's also about funding PGI's future endeavours - the money spent on UrbanMech will allow PGI to continue with other projects in the long run. Assuming you have any kind of emotional or financial investment in the game as a whole (and if you didn't, why would you complain?) you're welcome ^_^

You think the majority of the community will spend real money on a joke mech that old schoolers have a nostalgia hard on for? A vocal portion (I believe minority but we'll see ) wants PGI to waste time and resources on this silly joke mech. I'm simply disputing that this is some wonderful thing that PGI is doing out of their care for the community. Would PGI make this mech if it wasn't going to sell it for real money? That would show they listened to the community and not simply tried to cash in on nostalgia again.

I think too many just look at the game as a full on TT/Lore replacement, which obviously PGI says they try to follow but it is still a game meant to be fun to play so why can't they take weird liberties like that with it. It doesn't harm anyone but BT purists.

only time will tell.....

I'm not a old school nostalgia BT person, I like the stuff and I've always liked the MW series of games and I will be buying it. so there is one and I'm sure there are many others.
