Did your animators just quit their jobs?

I have just been watching the new direwolf JJ animation.
http://www.twitch.tv...023?t=01h20m15s

The dire wolf already had one of the most goofy and half baked walking animations in the whole game (here)... The JJ animation just completed the set.

I just wanted to ask you to bring back the people who did the animations for atlas/catapult!... bring them back.!

Yes, I noticed that as well, looks like the old animaor(s) left PGI, probably because PGI were unwiling to pay for quality. Hate King Crab animation the most.

Well. One of the epic fails in MWO it is all mechs are walking at any speed.
If you have a look to MW3 for example, you can notice that mechs are start to run if speed goes higher than half of maximum amount.

So yeah, Timber Wolf animations in THAT video looks much better, because mech is running at maximum speed instead of walking.
There is no more guffy walking Dire Wolf and other stupid looking mechs in game, if "run" animations will be implemented.

Couldnt agree more rinkata.

Its probably my biggest gripe about the game. The mechs don't move between walking/running animations. Giving you the 80kph moonwalking timberwolf.

All the clan bird leg mechs have terrible walking animations.

Yep - MWO's animations are comically bouncy. Real immersion killer.

yeah DWF needs a rework on this.

and adder maybe too, the adder legs seem to be not symmetric in movement and somehow act wonky in the "knee's"

can't lsoe the feeling that some clanmechs under the preassure of IGP have been done more in a rush than they have should.

But Nova and SCR movement looks quite fine tbh.

While I agree that the quality of animations decreased since CB, I'm totally fine with 'Mechs not running in MWO. The running animations of past Mechwarrior games always looked totally goofy to me.

That's cause the last real MW game (MW4:Mercenaries) happened 13 years ago. With today's technology, there is simply no excuse for lack of good animation. Mech combat is the whole point of this game. We don't need fancy game stories, we need glorious looking mechs blowing each other up in spectacular fashion.

I am still pissed about the mechlab having no "save loadout" function, something MW2 had back in 1997.

Yes. the nova legs are the best of a bad bunch. I know Russ said he doesnt think the community would be very happy if PGI took a period of time to do 'polishing' (including an animation pass hopefully) but maybe this is something that could be looked at immediately after a steam release (i.e. once CW is in a 'stable' state with a decent amount of content).

the DWF's prance and the Timber's moonwalk is a proper immersion killer.

Well, speaking of Steam, if they put MWO on Steam with the current state of art assets (ridiculous amateurish animations, broken areas/clipping on maps, imbecilic UI 2.0, mechs walking through eachother, etc. etc.) they're going to get laughed out of town.

As soon as they hit Steam they're up against the likes of Warframe et. al. which are polished, fluid games that look and play gorgeously, don't have absurd prices for content, and have deep and engaging metagame that MWO simply doesn't have.

Frankly, I think launching MWO onto Steam this year would be a colossal mistake that could doom the long term viability of the product. First impressions are usually the most important, and Steam has a MASSIVE customer base that have no issue at all passing over garbage titles for greener pastures, since there's a billionty pastures on Steam to choose from.

This game on Steam is DOA unless they do an intensive polish pass.

All of this complaining makes me wonder why any of you still play this game.

Just a wild guess, but maybe it's because we enjoy playing in spite of it's issues.

Meditate on that awhile, maybe you have an alternative answer.

Aesthetics aside, at least the new JJ animation doesn't make the Direwolf ignore damage like the Timberwolf's borked JJ animation does :)

The KC animation is awsome. Its so awsome it gets jealous troll posts.

On the other hand I hope they do an animation pass of some of the mechs like the Orion that really do have a silly animation.

It would be nice if they did a pass all the mechs at some point for hitboxes etc. Also add more cosmetic customization of mechs.

Oh I love the game, I'm a twitchy addict for giant robots and a long time defender of PGI.

I come from a tabletop background in warhammer 40k, if you think PGI are bad at game balance/money grubbers/need burning at the stake then try playing that game for a year, you'll be crying out for ghost heat and $55 a la carte packs.

It would just be nice to have better walking animations for my favourite mechs is all.

Believe that actually predates PGI as they were part of the original core. Smith & Tinker?

bump for response from PGI
For all their recent communication, we can't get anything in regards to the poor state of animations in this game, why are assault mechs bouncing around like care bears?
All I want is a pass at mech animation
That's one of the top three things that really bothers me about this game.
