So I've gotten to the point where I have every mech I could possibly want, and the game is slowing down for me. I have most of the top-tier/expensive variants of the chassis I love to play (grf-3m, cn9-d, aws-9m to name a few) and I find that there is less and less reason for me to log on and grind. I'll usually buy all three variants of a new chassis and then sell the two I don't like as much to make room for the next (I have 40 mech bays and all are full as I am currently leveling the orions....slowlyyyyyy/not enjoying it) I guess I'm a "gotta catch em all" player who loves grinding a new chassis out. And even though I may complain about the grind once in a while, it's what gave me the motivation to log on and play for hours on end, which resulted in me being addicted to this lovely game. Some might say that I could still grind for clam mechs, but they are simply too high of a price to grind normally for (I do want the twolfs, but I also don't want to be broke) I also have a couple of C-Wave 2 Variants I haven't mastered, but they get boring after a while because they're like leveling the same mech 3 times over due to omnipods. The one thing I could grind and spend on is modules, as I have singles of the ones I normally use (except radar derp and Adv. Zoom) but I'm too frugal to buy multiples when it doesn't take long to switch them on mechs anyway.

I guess I'm asking, any of you have the same motivation issue with MWO? Will PGI be releasing any more IS mechs besides the Resistance package? I'd like to see more soon, as a new IS Chassis (that's actually useful....vindicator I'm making fun of you) would give me the motivation to spend c-bills and play play play until they're mastered.

At this point... I've almost grinded everything (at least, that would matter that is accessible by C-bills), so there's a point where if there is no other side-things to do... it would just be straight farming at some point.

Monotony will eventually hit when there's nothing new and fun to do.

Somehow MW4 never got boring.

Maybe it was the league play that did it. I think I didn't quit until MWL died.

Step up your game, dude. There's so much you could do. Join a comp unit, get into league play. Take on a weight class you don't like (yet). Try to get good at this game. Play 1 on 1s vs your buddies.
Motivation is yours to find, not the game's responsibility when it and its community give you so many possibilities.

They pretty much can't produce new mechs and maps as fast as people can play through them (no major MMO produces content as fast as players can finish it, of course).

So you either decide to slow down, take a break, or find other goals within the game.

CW is interesting if you haven't tried that, or just trying mechs and loadouts that are out of your normal comfort zone, or just setting a "I will earn 1 mill c-bills a day and buy one new module each weekend" type goal.

They need to develop something you're constantly grinding on Mechs that doesn't cost you $$$ in the end, like GXP. World of Tanks does that, and every single game you play in a tank you're making progress in a talent tree, even when the tank is all decked out. Then it becomes more than just the rewarding of C-Bills and GXP.

Not as much of a challenge as it used to be, not when you can strap any non-small-size laser onto the 'Mech and smack things for huge damage from 380+ meters away.

Why would they stop? There's still 3050-era IS 'Mechs that aren't in the game yet - and then they can just turn the clock forwards a few years and there's a bunch more to pick from.

You'll get the Panther, Enforcer, Grasshopper and Zeus on March 17th if you've pre-ordered, and less than a month later, on April 7th, the almighty UrbanMech will arrive.

lol! HA!!!!! I couldnt help but laugh at this. If you EVER need to join a group of mouth breathing, basement dwelling, turds to even remotely start to enjoy a game..... thats when you KNOW a game isn't very good, even more with lack of competitive balance for it to ever truly be "competitive".

hahahaha that gave me a good chuckle

The game had officially joined my "Get First Win and log off" F2P titles. Sure, I have enough funds to buy a King Crab for C-Bills, but I am sick of "grind three to max one you like" mechanics, after C-Bill grinding the Crow, the Whale, and the Cheatwolf back to back. You know the game has lost its luster when a staunch Assault pilot like me feels it is no fun to grind the KING CRAB. -_-

Also hope PGI fixes CW issues so that I will finally get to enjoy that one.

I drop to play with the people I know.

Games like this can't go any other way. Sooner or later you either let the players unlock everything they need, or you hope they'll keep grinding forever for smaller and smaller incremental gains. Neither approach holds my interest. I keep queuing up on MWO because I have friends who play, the basic gameplay is fun, and if they're on, I want to have fun with them.

So if you don't have a team, I'd look for one to join. Doesn't have to be comp, doesn't need to be CW, doesn't even need to be a group that can muster a full company. Or take a break and wait for new IS 'Mechs/the second phase of quirk passes to turn your Mechbay on its ear again.

There are several reasons I play Mechwarrior. Strongest among them is that it is a relatively slow paced, tactical combat game. I enjoy having one life, and having multiple avenues for approach before contact is compelling [Side note: if the only map I had to play on was that Flippin' Closet Full of Trees, Forest Colony, I would uninstall the game.]

Next big reason to play is the unit I've been recruited to. A small group of very friendly people to play with and co-ordinate on the battlefield REALLY makes the game fun for me. Time constraints from our real lives makes this a variable draw to the game.

The last reason is a dwindling one, and that is the "experiance a new mech" one. Without new weapon systems or some really bizzare quirks, I've hit the "own every mech I'd possibly want" ceiling. (one of my motivations for purchasing an Urbanmech was to play with full 360 torso twisting)

I cannot see what PGI could do to 'fix' my last reason, other than introduce new game mechanics such as the Light Fusion Engines, and whatever else the Lore fanatics have in mind, but the first two are definately catered to by Community Warfare development, Voip, if implemented, and getting this game on Steam.

OP, I know your feeling, you might consider taking a break, or just finding some good friends to play with.

If MWO gets boring its cuz its the same 10 maps, playing the exact same 5 minute games, usually ending in a stomp either way. In some you manage to move and shoot alittle, in others your side gets murderballed in no time flat, leaving you with no time to even play the game.

MWO lacks any immersion or depth. Typically there is no time to really get involved in the game. You can never savor the moment. Its just, ready, set, NEXT GAME!!! even CW, while initially it felt really nice, its now just a zerg fest, typically seems to be won by the attackers......

MWO with a lengthy, tactical, slow paced PVE campaign would be amazing. Crimson Strait, with a multi stage, many objective mission. With some scripted AI reinforcements, a spot where you have to hold out and defend, maybe a nice little brawl fest.......

But typical MWO gameplay is just go in, shoot a bit, be shot a bit and its over. Its like 2 minutes of kinda fun feeling then its over to do it again.........

I know what kills the game for me-The lack of diversity in weapons/upgrades and maps. You have 3 main weapon groups, but within those, there is a now stale blend of weapons. It kinda changes up between clan and IS, but the fact that you have to play these limited weapons on either faction doesn't help. Also, instead of modules, which are kinda dumb. They are arbitrary upgrades with no purpose, you get improved range and cooldown for no good reason at all. Its laziness. They could have made multiple brands of the weapon that have slightly better or worse stats. Or any number of other things other then what you could just call "grind pods", because that's all they are, they are there to grind, and it kills the game for me when it turns into a grind.

Maps are just bleh. Everything is mech high, everything is made for mechs, mechs in this game are scaled to the size of people in the environment and pgi knows it. Its laziness on a new level. Maybe if my 5 story mech felt like one, it would be more immersive. So friggin what if that means you aren't gonna get cover, it happens, a walking friggin tank isn't supposed to hide. It would also give a lot more reason for people to play with lights, which could hide, and make bigger maps that aren't cluttered with +2000ft tall hills(caustic, tourmaline, alpine, etc) or buildings. Making a reasonable map that uses patches of forest and small hills with rivers and open ground would be nice-but make it really big so there is actually some maneuver warfare that a deathball would actually lose on
