I think that this challenge has been the worst gaming experience of my life. I've played for two years. Started 4 for 6, thought everything was going fine, then after I hit 19 points I hit a stretch where I got 5 points in 40 matches. Was basically hate-playing by the end of it, and now I'm walking away from 10 hours of playing because I literally cannot stand this game anymore.

I wish I was being hyperbolic. I'm sure I'll be back, but I was about to drop $100 on packages before the 31st and it's been so miserable that I just can't justify it anymore. I've loved tons of the other challenges but this one sucked hard.

Been sitting on 26 points for like 10 matches, and that's after playing over 100 games with only 40 wins. I'll finish this one, but I'll never do another of this format.

It just plain sucks.

It's not hard if you just play normal and smart and don't even think of it as a challenge. Play for a winning game and the kills will come. Once I gave up on trying to play it as a challenge I won 16 out of 18 games and netted 12 points from those games. I even got a point on my first game with my new free mech. I used my Shad 2H, hunchie G, and Hunchie 4P so it's easily doable. When I was actually trying for a kill and not just playing as I would normally I couldn't get a point every 8 games or more. I would make to many dumb moves.

The other thing that really erks one, guy already has 4 kills... and shoots through you to get his 5th kill, stealing the only chance you had at a kill and a point. At the time you don't know he had 4 kills...then you see the end screen and just want to B!tch slap the guy for being like that. At the same time, you get it, guy just trying to help win. He may have even been shooting just for damage an not trying to get the kill, you never know. More often though, sadly, they could careless about teammates and go for all the kills they can get.

Thats why To the Victors was better... it got a lot more communication and teamwork about sharing kills to get the point since they were so hard. TKing someone who is being a scumbag was also possible to punish them and deprive them of the point for not working together.

I didn't even care for the 'phract, I was just busy getting experience for my 3 Pink as Hell King crabs while I had the free 3 day premium time and I got the damn mech anyways (sold it in a heartbeat). Interestingly enough, on this day in particular, was dropped with a player a few times who kept calling most of us (me especially) kill stealers. Then he showed up as an enemy and stupidly enough wanted "revenge". Lets just say his centurion didn't last very long when he charged at me......

TLDR: what is it with video game tournaments that bring out the crap in people?

I hate these sort of challenges - they just bring out the worst in people. No teamwork, not even a semblance of co-ordination. I've lost track of the number of times half the team disappear after a damaged enemy mech. Then there's lrm's.. so many lrm's...
And of course everyone has to bring either an assault or heavy. I played one match where there were 7 assaults on each side. I had an adder...

Please think these challenges through a bit more carefully.. Actually don't think them through - stop them and provide content that isn't cw or a new mech grind. It's starting to get a bit boring.

Please make the challenge harder. It said "Like A Champion" on the website ... make it so only a Champion can win it.

Amazing! People have had two bites at the apple and they are still whining!
Bring on the challenges and keep offering the free stuff...well done PGI.

If everyone was meant to get the prizes it would be called a "Giveaway" not a challenge!

If you want stuff bad enough and you do not like the grind...buy it!! Novel idea I know but it might just work!

Templar you make a lot of assumptions when you make statements like the one above ... like people have good jobs an can afford to spend money like that, you assumed everyone was complaining about the challenge it self, some sure, mostly though it was how people act during them, the brain dead run strong during events like these.

Now Daily we see people doing stupid stuff, but during a challenge like this ... its like a full moon, on the 13th, on Friday, and no one took their meds. You can watch people see the red target box and just shoot ... they have no clue what's between them and it, they just shoot, many times coring out a teammates back, or trying to laser through mountain. Worse, even after they SEE that they hit someone or a mountain... they KEEP shooting. They are either 8, or really freakin stupid. Given the state of education today, the latter is the likely choice. Those are the folks working Dunkin Donuts, who hand you 10 donuts when you ask them for a dozen. The same ones who look like they are going to cry or have a serious brain melt, if your bill comes to 5.25 and you hand them a ten dollar bill and a quarter.

Also most people where rather grateful for the second chance. The only ones who mostly complained had already finished it.

I have followed in-and-out this thread, and whom actually complained were the player base from less than 3 months or so. This is, new players that currently own a couple mechs, but still lack the required skills to actually plan and do a strategy for a challenge like this.

Im with them that the challenge was simply too tough for them. It was not specially tough for a normal player with more exp in his/her bag, but for a person that is currently grinding C-Bills to pay weapons ((Did u remember the last time u did this?)), the challenge was hard, and 30 points a hellish goal that meant a full weekend without sleep.

All in all, i think it was not a good idea, cause it completely favoured LRM playstyle and completely neglected Scout playstyle.

Challenges shouldn't be organized around a playing-role, they should reward all possible things playing-roles are supposed to do. Instead i have the feeling that, dropping with a non-alpha strike oriented mech was a waste.

Just my 2cents.

Frankly, this is good effort by PGI. It makes it easier to complete the challenge by removing the need to survive. There will always be people that tries to go around the system but any free stuff is good.

It'll be better if PGI allow the community a week to complete the challenge taking into consideration how people change their play style in particular, making it tougher to attain all the requirements.

Challenge Idea.

What do you think of a challenge that has its focus on

"Kill Most Damage"

You get a point for scoring a "Kill Most Damage" in a game.

This might reduce the number of people either trying to score as many assists as possible, or lamenting having a kill stolen after putting in effort to pulverize a specific enemy.

Unfortunately, it may not help a light mech built for scouting.

The remedy is to have the option to score at least one "Spotted" assist, to encourage the lights go out there and spot.

Unfortunately, it may not help trolls that will run forward, spot, and suicide.

This just means that any "formula" for a challenge will have its downside. We just have to play by the rules and either enjoy, or in my case, stop playing after three matches to bank the 3 days premium time for the next weekend! (I only play on weekends).

Keep the challenges coming, always willing to try new things. two a month would seem an ideal number so that every alternate weekend we can have "normal" games without "challenge-driven" behavior or "for science".

Oh Yes. Can we have a stock only challenge? :-)

There is no real change to gameplay, it gets rids of boring prevalent metas, it allows newbies the chance to play their shiny new stock mechs with some degree of competitiveness, it allows vets to enjoy "real" battletech.

I can only think of certain vets lamenting that they have to spend money on removing DHS and ES/FF/Art. But hey. I always have unmodified mechs lying around waiting to be meta-ed. so bring on the

STOCK CHALLENGE!!!!

I was kind of hoping to at least get the statue. I played only 27 games and got 4 points. Many times I would win the match with 0 kills and X assists or I would get the 1 or more kills and assists but lose the game.

I kind of wish the set it up if you get say 3 kills and 3 assist t would be worth 3 points, and if you are he only one fighting mech and a light mech comes running bay and taps your target with a MG or small laser and kills him you get the point unless you already have a kill.

I work on the weekends so I don't get a lot of time to play. last 2 challenges the Victor and the Cataphract just to get the last point I needed I was up till almost 2 or 3 in the morning and had to go to work the next morning.

After grinding out the challenges it makes me not want to go back to WoW for a month or 3. I do think the point set up should be about team work and not me work. If you are going to keep it the way it is make it a full week not just a few days. If every one had weekends off I'm sure this wouldn't be a big deal.

You have a large player base form kids ranging from 3 to 90...... okay that may be a little of a stretch but still. for your players that are of a working age not all of them get sat. sun. I get up in e morning and get maybe 3 to 4 games in. when I get home from work I may or may not get a chance to even look at my computer. I if do get a chance I only get a few matches in.

It would be nice, I have more time during the week than the weekend. Furthermore, I'm 14 out of 30 and to be quite frank... it's not for a lack of getting kills but a lack of winning. A guy can only carry so much. Then, there's the accidents that come with making a mistake on the field that instantly gets you killed in a medium, heavy or assault that causes me to die prematurely. Or going in for the kill leaves me completely bare and unable to take another shot from someone else, because despite having been followed by literally everyone during the match, only one person attacked my target and wasn't shooting where I was shooting.

There is always something, whether it is my mistake or the mistakes of others, that eventually leads to defeats when otherwise qualifying, or victory before being able to qualify. (Taking the kills has been another issue. Attack an enemy one on one and then some other guy comes in and lobs a shot or two and gets the only kill left).

I just think this 1 game = 1 point is too harsh on those who need to carry teams. I liked more the type of formula where depending on your performance you could get from none to multiple points in game, despite that model had it's problems too. Make it that collective wins adds you an extra but not be determinant.

I didn't find this challenge hard at all compared to, "To the Victors". The fact that you didn't need to survive made it much easier. If you lucked out and got a kill you could throw caution to the wind and play aggressively which for me paid off more often than not in that it increased the chance of a win.

I did it, despite expecting not to.
About 160 games. Win ratio was actually above 50%, but mostly using lights and being a month old newbie was hard to score kills, always group shooting and its luck to get the final shot.

Hopefully more match score based qualifiers next time rather than kill shots. That rewards a wide range of teamplay.
The competition to steal kills is a headache and frustration.
Still an ok system for the occasional diversity in a challenge, but I dont think its the optimal system.

Whenever my team gets a win, I didn't get a kill, but 8 - 12 assists.
Whenever my team loses, I get a kill and at least three assists.

As lone wolf, this challenge is utterly ridiculous.
I give up.

I got the 3D yesterday, two questions.

1. Why does the 3D C not get a mech bonus? My CN9-AH and MLX-PRIME(I) are classified as champions in the mech bay and they get a bonus.

2. I sold my other 3D which cost around 10 million C Bills for 1.5 million stripped of parts. That's a pretty bad joke to sell back for 1/10th the price, it should at least be 50% Is this going to change?
