Ok, So Very Happy About The Urbie, But Have To Admit, I Think The "feel" Of The Official Art Is A Bit Off.

I feel bad for saying that. It looks cool, make no mistake. I just....

I think it looks too slim. Too tall. Too..... tactical.

While I don't think Urbie needs be treated as a joke, I do think he needs his potbelly proportions.

For example, the official Ortho.

Looks killer. Just..... not quite "Urbie".

So..... I downscaled the whole mech 15%, then the legs and extra 10% on top of that to this:

or for side by side comparo:

Much more R2D2, yes?

Urbie, IMO, and by lore, should be about Commando height, or a skosh shorter, but with that beer keg torso like a hunchback. Since the model hasn't even been started, maybe if enough people agree, we can get the proportions changed (even slightly).

What say you guys?

In regards to the bottom picture, I'm leaning more towards the one on the right. However, the hips seem a bit wide, but then again nearly everything in MWO has egregious thigh gap. It's like they're trying to give birth to Elementals in the field or something...

been my complaint from the get go, the thigh gap. apparently it's a clipping issue or so I have been told.

Had but you also want to sleep racing stripes and a spoiler on it, and hang out with Spiders, so I'm thinking you might miss the mark for the "feel" of the mech. :)

No I am fine with it having a max of 180. I know the feel of the mech,

I'm just saying it kinda looks like a UFO landed on some legs and started shooting stuff.

I'm Don't see how changing the shape is changing the feel of a mech though.

Just make it the size of a commando and it fine with the official art work.

not saying you did it bad, just it looks really weird to me.

I very much prefer the squished version as well.

I'll top up to collectors' pack if PGI does it. (Promptly gets stoned for not purchasing collectors' pack in the first place.) :D

Agreed, the squat barrel-torso design makes for the true Urbie feel. Slim and tall just doesn't suit - seems too gangly and awkward. Give him a bit of a squish PGI, or maybe a few sammiches so he doesn't look so underfed  Other than that, awesome concept art as always ^_^

Yeah, it should be about the height of a Commando and have the same shoulder to shoulder size.

The 5 ton advantage needs to be from having it a tad wider than a Commando from Front to Back.

"Waddly" is the appropriate adjective for Urbanmech. I really think the Hunchback's gait is spot on, and one of my favorites.

I also would have accepted:
Stumpy
Stout
Squat
Stocky
Stubby
Heavyset

etc.

If this thread had been about engine size, I would say I am comfortable with 180, but I think 165 is even more appropriate, but I won't mention anything since that isn't what this thread is 'bout.

Yep. Urbie needs to be smaller to even have any sort of advantage. Also looks cuter.
