Simple Fact, Circle Strafing will never go away.

The best way to not die, is not be hit. Best way to not be shot is to keep moving. That means you have to keep your movement speed up

This means one of two things, you pass your opponent and show your back as you stroll right on by, or your turn and continue to 1 keep your front to your opponent where most of your armor is, and 2 keep him to where 100% of your fire power is.

I promise you, the only way to get rid of circle strafing is to pus every one on shooter rails and not let any one control where they move.

want to know how to get out of circle strafing dont try to track your opponent just wait for them to come around and hit them with all you got and hope your timing isn't off otherwise you will miss and have to wait for em to come around again. or track in the opposite direction if patience isnt your strong suit. or even better thanks to the mechanics of this game move in a direction they dont expect and knock them down and make them wish they had never used such a mindless tactic. or if your lucky enough to have jump jets then just jump out while keeping your eyes on your opponent. but the best solution of all is to call for assistance either in the form of artillery or a mech just as fast remember your not immortal and your not alone you have teammates use them.

I think circle strafing is okay, because how else is a small/med. mech supposed to destroy a heavy and assault mech. but I also do agree with most people that I dont like it when its done to me. How would you like to be a small mech and all you can do is run straight into a heavy or assualt mech with better armor and weapons than you.

the only reason the matches seem like they are either a linear brawl or circle of death is that there isnt really a whole lot of team play, once people get organized, it becomes a totally different game

My thoughts exactly we don't know what's coming.. Besides there are tactics such as varying throttle control and back to wall strategies that eliminate or minimize circle strafe

Why do people circle strafe? Because you have an upper torso that can twist, and because variable angular velocity (note I said variable, because if you just run in a circle people will destroy you) makes you more difficult to shoot, so given a skilled pilot you can return fire while avoiding focused hits and spread damage.

Do not confuse this with strategy. Not going to give anything away but trust me, a good team with a good plan will obliterate a bunch of people running around like chickens with their heads cut off, even if they are skilled pilots.

OP suggestion does not limit cirlce strafing at all, in fact most cirlce strafing occurs at close range. Haveing weapons that do MORE damage the closer you are only means people will close faster in order to circle strafe to quickly kill their target.
