This idea of border related ceasefires is actually quiete nice...
As long as I am given the opportunity to play CW when I log in (22:00 gmt+1) ^^ I don't ask anything more.

I don´t have any numbers, but I would guess timezone population is quite different among the factions.

Make planets 24hrs open for takeover.
Make that 24hrs period with random ceasefire(that way the planet contesting period will go in circles).
Make the number of wins count with the current owner having a let`s say 20 win advantage(this will make people finding other planets to drop crusial for success , so we actually find faster games at last).

Simple , every win count , has to include strategy to choose what planet you need to be hitting and includs a bit of luck that is actually good in every game.

Each timezone group gets 8 hours to play CW. Moving the EU ceasefire forward by an hour moves everyone else's ceasefire forwards.

It'd be easier and more effective to make the whole attack phase more important than moving when the 40 minute ceasefire period is.

That said, I'm against it because it means another significant adjustment to all the programs I have for CW. <_<

PGI could implement borderrelated ceasfires, where some are made 22:15 and some border 22:45.

that way ther eis no break for all, just a break for a part of the fronts.

You hate me :(

Just make one of the Attack periods 9 hours. So ceasefire will be pushed back by 1 hour each day.

You can't make the ceasefire fair for everybody. If you move the timeframe one hour, other people will complain about it as well. There are losers and winners with the way it is implemented.

If your one of the losers, accept your bad luck with the windows.

GMT+1 control flip of a world at 23:30 to 00:00 or 00:00 / 00:30 if you ask me. makes it 6 or 7 in the New York zone so the US dudes can flawlessly take over when we are done for the eve to call it a night.

So do I, and the current Ceasefire works for me, +1h is worse for me, but if PGI changes it, i will not complain about it.

Bottom Line: It can't be made to suit everyone. And it's a bit selfish to ask to change the window because of "your" favourite playtime.

I'm pretty sure PGI knows the exact numbers of players online during each timeframe, and if I where them, i would set the ceasefire just a bit after the population on servers is dropping at the end of each primetime, to keep people playing just a little bit longer.

But i like the idea of the Poll though, so at least we can see how many in the forums support the changes of ceasefire.

Be sure to post your poll in the German, French, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Scandinavian, and Czech&Slovak forums as well, otherwise you're only getting the opinions of the English speaking part of the forums.

Maybe 5 periods of 5hrs each could work. Planets flip with the best of 5 at the end of the 25hr period and the start/end time will shift 1hr each day so everybody worldwide gets the chance at being there at the end.

Shorter time periods may also mean more players playing CW since anytime you log in can make a difference with less "Dead Time" before ceasefires.

Also, Poiter IS Quality. Even if he is a Ford guy.

My bottom line: it should be made to suit everyone. Conclusion ? This whole idea of global ceasefire is crap. Find something else so that everyone can play anytime.

I don't like it either. Unfortunally, i can't came up with a better idea. At some point, planets have to switch over. And then there is the problem with teams currently fighting on that planet, while it is switching over.

As a guy that has the same time zone as Moscow , i do beleive that it would be better for them , as long as they have a family.
For us Greek guys 1 hrs is a saviour.Just imagine.
Most of the shops close at 9:00 p.m. , so you need at least 2-3 hrs considering if you`re goin start playing.
Let`s say you work at some other venture.Let`s say you wake us 6:00 a.m. like myself and get back home at about 6:30 to 7:00 p.m.The thing is that most little kids sleep at about 10:00-10:30 p.m.Still if you want to play no time till the ceasfire.

I vote for getting rid of ceasefires and process the planets status in realtime. It is not like this is an impossible technical challenge. All the other game data is processed in realtime (stats).

I don´t know about you, but the majority of players I met in MWO is not in school anymore. We may stay up late, if we want. In fact that is when most of our gaming happens. After we had dinner, took care of household stuff, the kids are in bed/we spent time with the family and whatnot.

The current EU ceasefire is way too early. Push it back one or two hours.

As it is only the last 2 hours before the ceasefire matter.*

9.15 pm for those poor guys in western europe? That would mean they should get to gaming at 7.15 pm. That is way before many are even done working. Things are only slightly better in central or eastern europe.

*Please note that I, personally, very much dislike the ceasefire mechanic as a whole. It begs players to play the system instead of the game. It invalidates wins early in each cycle etc. But considering that PGI won´t rethink their policy anytime soon this would make things easier as a stop gap measure.
Possibly not. I know when I have to be at work at 5am I must be in bed by 7pm to get the sleep I need. Being a grown up is not a get out of responsibility free card. ;)
