i love to copy/paste into an excel sheet to see how far away i am from 100 points.
i mean it's not like it will be a long list, assuming a 50% win rate with some matches where you die early or the enemy scatters too far to get enough assists.
really convenient.
ohh dang, i left the sarcasmlock on.

I was considering buying the mad dog and grinding them But nope with some of these groups that would be pure frustration . Least this way im making the losses look less pathetic. Apparently if I get less then 2-3 kills were losing.

They are entertaining to kill in a light though.
Especially at the end where the aim is to leg them and let the rest of the pack peck away to get their assists. It is like torturing them before someone puts them down.
More lurm means less light killers and more plump targets with nothing but LRM and one small laser.
Also means your UAV and narcs will be rewarded with bonus credits and XP.
Yup I decided to run the old support raven and narc THEM so they can feel the annoyance of the lurms. But that still relies on my team to actually take advantage of the narc.

But the lemmings that come out on these things are un real. "If I one shot everything I get 20 MC" And wonder why they not only don't qualify the team loses and they make it a lot harder for everyone else to qualify , burdens to the team

But kills and assists really need to be awarded the same. Every time we get this kind of challenge, with this formula, the pug queue becomes an lrmfest. Seriously, award kills and assistst the same. The way this formula punishes for actually getting the kill pushes too many players into getting lrm boats and just spam, making matches shallow and unfun.
This isn't the first time lot of us players say this about this formula, the way the playerbase reacts to the way points are awarded really makes playing frustrating and unfun. Too much lrm spam, too much timidity.
Again, i'm not ranting against you, PGI, but about the playerbase. This really is a problem tha comes from the playerbase, but that is triggered by the challenge formula.

why?
ppl dare to kill mechs and wait until they die themselves.
its going completely awkward AGAIN and so many damn missilespammers.
but even WORSE: people STILL dont know how to use ECM mechs inside their team but run around outside of anything and
they STILL dont know that IS LRM's got a minimum arming range. so they stay somewhere, standing still, waiting until the lrm spam hits them and then they die.
hell i had to run through the complete enemy team with 6 missileboats with a huginn to make my cowardteam move forward. on caustic valley. they been sitting on the edge of the damn caldera all time but not moving against the enemy. assaults and heavies.
suffice to say that i had a terrible match score just to show some learning-resistant players what to do when you play against a lot of lrms and made this a win -.- over and over again. and then i get stupid comments how bad my match score is.
yeah i shouldnt help selfish players to win but i wouldnt win either -.-

Remember, as I said before, at least 11+ hours. 100 qualified matches = 2000 MC. So if you at least devote 3 hours a day to it... expect to finish the challenge by then. 3 hours a day x 3 = 9 hours, more than enough to get a good chunk of MC if you haven't started already.

I too thought I'd haul out my HBK-4J. I used it exclusively in the Victors event and won the champion Victor. It was great.
Last night, I was in for only 6 matches. Decided to buck the system and bring the HBK-4G (AC20 naturally). Well I did one match in a Wolvie with 3xSRM6... same thing tho... brawler build. Anyway... had a blast. Though the skies were dark with angry LRMs, didn't bug me much. Both mechs were packing Radar Dep and are speedy enough to seek cover when the LRM birdies fly. Did pretty well, collected 80 MC out of it. Nice.
Events that are assist-centric do bring out the LRMs... that's because getting assists is stupid easy with LRMs. And kills are rare. But I decided to keep a spreadsheet of my stats for this one, like I did for Victors to see what's helping the most on points. It turns out, for all of my MC winning matches (I had one with 127 points... boo!) the damage put me over the top. Kills and assists only got me a little over half way there.
I think events like this have a certain amount of wiggle room and pilots take different paths to meet the requirement. Sure focusing on assists can, on paper, get you to 130. You need 7. Running right at the enemy and trying to touch as many as you can before dying isn't that smart. Its too easy to get primed on your way to the golden 7 number. LRM boats do better at that. You need to lock an enemy long enough for one missile of one salvo to hit the target and get that assist. That, also, presumes someone will finish that target for you. Thats a big if with the MM the way it is now.
Also that player who's running at the enemy for assists till he dies is helping the enemy team by giving up free kills and assists, while denying his team a player potentially contributing something useful besides being a fire magnet. Mathematically he's hurting his chances.
I've always found it best to play each game to the best of my skill, that maximizes points and c-bills and GXP. Farming like that, is the short bus to loser-land.

it is only a bit of MC , let some folk save their money, after all look at the new variants , now that is a cash grab ..

It's not about the difficulty of the challenge per se, actually this kind of challeng is pretty easy.
It's about the behavior the formula triggers. By rewarding assists 20 points, and kills only 10, many(the vast majority, actually) players feel encouraged to hop in an lrm boat and stand back the whole match racking up assists, but doing a really poor job, for themselves and for the team, because often they have no idea of how to use lrms effectively. Heck, since the start of the challenge i've seen a shitload of atlas as7-s and king crabs with nothing but lrm15s and 2 or 3 backup medium lasers. 100 tons of mechs totally wasted. those are mechs meant to stay first line, and hammer the enemy with heavy direct fire weapons. You can put lrms on those mechs, it's ok, but only if you've also got some real weapons along with them, say an ac20 or some large lasers/PPCs. Some matches ago i ended up in a team with 3 king crabs, all three of them had nothing but lrm and medium lasers. At the end of the match their CUMULATIVE damage was less than 400 points. i did almost 600 in a centurion even thought i died way before them, as in first line, against the enemy team, there was just me and a couple of other heavy mechs. Guess how that match ended? 3-12 for the enemy.
The previous event could have been harder (not even that much), but at least it promoted some real teamwork and thninking, and matches were way funnier.
Now every match is just crap.

If this event is to be ran again in the future, why not just have it reward straight wins? It's a simple metric that cannot be gamed barring MMR manipulation and doesn't favor any playstyle over another.
