All in-game commands will be forwarded to and executed by our Auxiliary User Input Specialists.

Wait you mean that this semaphore image detection system I've been setting up isn't going to get used?

Would have been nice to know before I got started...

Not sure if anyone's mentioned this yet but it's super easy to change your IP address.

I think a global mute button would go a long way. First offense, the player gets his all-chat muted. Second offense he gets both allied, lance, and all chat muted.

The alphabet is organized in such a way that every horizontal row contains letters with the first (usually left) hand in the same position. Unfortunately for those trying to learn this signaling system, the letters are not exactly in alphabetical order.

Ban account. And while in Cadet stage put 'em against other Cadets (and some people who will be willing to play with them and, maybe provide some training for rewards) with friendly fire switched off (call it `training simulatior' or what in was in the lore that they used to train cadets there, infamous `La Mancha' scenarion and all). To get back to griefing will take long time, so the problem with griefers will be somewhat solved. The question is wherether there is enough cadets at any given time...

There is no way to ban players in a Free To Play game.
-Computer bans:
IP Address: renew IP, dynamic IP etc
Mac Address: download shareware and you got a new MAC

-Account bans:
Make a new account

IF this was pay to play with a subscription and they did not take gift cards, then they could ban a credit card. A griefer can only take out so many credit cards with a different name at their address. Given they can keep moving and getting a new address and card, but eventually a card issuer will stop issuing them cards.

Everyone knows that all change requests must come through the green teletype machine.

I view IP bans and such the same way as locks on your car or house. They WILL NOT stop a determined miscreant. But that does not mean using the measure is a waste. If nothing else, it stops the ones that are not particularly determined. I wager a 48 hour IP ban would get rid of most of the worst offenders. The truly determined ones, no you aren't going to stop them. But they are few and far between. And accidental friendly fire and just plain not understanding how to help the team should not be ban worthy offenses.

Nosferatu 666? Free piece of advice: if you are being watched it will take something a little more in depth than a tracert command to find it. Also, analysts hate wasting their time; so if you aren't involved in anything relevant to them, and people you communicate with aren't involved in anything relevant to them, than it doesn't matter how paranoid you are, they still won't watch you. You are more likely to be spied upon by a jealous ex/spouse/SO or a P.I. hired by the same than to be under government/Interpol surveillance. Most people just aren't that important.

My router is a real *****, plus I've only done it like twice in the like 5 years I've owned it. Not experienced so gotta look it up and can take a while.

Mine has a tendency to change IPs when I unplug it lol

just ban their mac address, make them spend money to get back on, a mac address is unique to every network adapter and in most cases unchangeable...ya they can get around it but they will have to buy a new network adapter...it can really be a nightmare if the network adapter is built on the motherboard lol....you would notice a stiff decrease in grievers for sure lmao

Spoofing a MAC only takes a few seconds man.

What this thread reminded me of: People knowing absolutely nothing about a subject are usually way less dangerous than people knowing something about it (while often thinking they know everything).

Please, do never, ever suggest IP/MAC based bans for anything that works over the internet. Trust me, it's the right thing to do. ;)

Maybe you guys should use flare signals as standard.

Or carrier pigeon.

The other risk is if you have two people living in the same house (or in a dorm that does NAT) that you will ban both of them if you target their IP address.

Both solutions (account ban and IP ban) to the problem are not 100% effective unfortunately.
