I didn't realize the lower arm actuators were not working until I found that my usual "run and LRM" technique wasn't working. My torso is still locked to my arms... Grrrrr....

Thank you for undoing the stealth nerf of Clan Mechs.

I am in awe at the sheer entanglement of code that weds an incredibly kludgy attempt to apply a heat penalty to the function of Omnimech arm movement.

I am curious how the ac/2 thing broke the clan arms.

I'm glad PGI was quick, able to see the error & roll back the ac/2 patch thing, keep us players up to date about it, and everything.

I'm looking forward to making full use of my Jager-S when it gets fixed up.

In the meantime, my Warhawk's arms thank you. :P

I never even understood why they had ghost heat to begin with. They already run as hot as a laser.

So...

When they remove the Ghost Heat again for additional testing, keep this in mind:

Put all 6 of your AC/2s in Firing Group 1, and link Group 1 to your mouse button.
Put one of the guns in Group 2, and link Group 2 to the "2" button on your keyboard.
Put one of the guns in Group 3, and link Group 3 to the "3" button...
... yadda yadda yadda, and one gun in Group 6, linked to the "6" button.

Now... line up a target, then quickly roll your fingers across the 2-6 buttons and immediately click-and-hold your mouse button. This will set up a macro-free chainfire that continues as long as you hold the mouse button. No Macro.

This is possibly one of teh coolest tips I have seen on these forums for a long time :P

Take a Dragon 5N with trip AC/2s and you could continuous fire like that and have very little heat issues.... well, before they reverted Ghost Heat back.

Hello Folks,

We are going to temporarily take Heat Scale off of the AC/2's (both IS and Clan). They will still generate normal heat, it's just that Heat Scale will no longer kick in when firing multiples at one time.

This is effective immediately and will run until the end of business day Friday. We will be monitoring metrics and feedback while this is active.

-Paul

p.s. This test is to analyze the effects of Heat Scale, considering where the game is at now, in early 2015

UPDATE:
This change inadvertently disabled Clan Lower Arm Actuators. We're reverting today's changes with the AC/2 ghost heat test until we can figure out what caused this. Clan arm actuators should be functional again, as of about a minute ago.

AC/2 is not a competitive weapon even without ghost heat. It generates 231% more heat than AC5 and has 8% less DPS. It is 2 tonnes lighter, but you cannot cool it down with 2 additional DHS.

Let me put it real simple:
AC/2 + 5 External DHS = AC/5
AC/2 + 5 tonnes = 8 tonnes

AC/2 =would have to weigh 3 tonnes in order to be competitive. And since that won't ever happen, the heat should be lowered, at least by 50% (1->0.5)/

AC2 is the second hottest IS ballistic weapon:

Machinegun<Gauss< AC5 < LBX10 < UAC5 <= AC10< AC2 < AC20

With 0.5 heat per shot it would still be hotter than AC5, but cooler than LBX10.

Looking forward to this, I think they will still be too hot though.

In any case I'm gonna run a 6 ac2 crab during the test.

Man, there are a TON of all-star coders here on the boards tonight huh, imparting their knowledge on how NOT to code. Interesting.

Why not an instant player kill button?

Seriously, keep in mind, that the ac2s have superior range and speed to the ac5s. they are no brawling weapon.

Even with ghost heat, i ran well a triple uac2 nova.

Everyone told me "this is not OP, don't use it", but i had fun with it. even with my dual uac20 warhawk.

If you want to make mwo even stupidier then go without ghost heat. this draws me even more off mwo, and i play it more seldom than now, being ****** off once more.

Just remember, what about theese so called "superior" skilled cw teams, all using the same op mech and raging over the map? no matter wether it is a ppc thunderbolt, or a laser stormcrow, cw is such boring nowadays, i quitted it.

I think what's most exciting about removing ghost heat from the AC2 is that it's almost like we've got a new weapon to try out. It has been so long since I've used AC2's with the exception of the single one on my SHD-2H, that I've almost forgotten about them.
