Actually, you can't assume they have a real ping. I had a player on my team drop in my lance, right in front of me. He moved, took Company Command and kept moving. I went around him and followed the lance, he was following. Game goes on, we get killed, 2 enemy left and him, in a Mad Dog, LRM setup. He's sitting in a good hidden firing position, he's not moving, and I see he has a ping and a score, still CC. Enemy can't find him, after 2 mins people on my team in team chat say we should give out his coords, he's a DC. I say he's not, he's got a ping. Seems he actually had a 0 ping, my UI just wasn't showing it, it was updating everyone else's ping, not his. I screenshot it just in case they were trying to pull one. End game screen, 0 ping showed up on my screen. Sometimes, we aren't seeing what we should be, it's not ours to convict, it's ours to report for investigation AFTER the round ends, not before anything has actually been or not been done.

Impossible.
report what you think is wrong, let the mods do the rest since you won't listen to reason.

I give away the player location of sore losers all the time. As long as you are trying (in whatever way you can), or simply hiding to run down the clock for a win - more power to you. Otherwise, too bad. Feel free to report this post where I admit in public I do this. If they want to lose players over this, I volunteer. But frankly I think you're full of it /shrug

We are down to two players, one still doing his best. (terra therma)
I hop into the pit of the other player. NO weapons, and he's headed for no mans land.
I watch thinking he is going to suicide (also taking note of his coordinates) and lo' he shutsdown.
7 minutes left.
I called him on it, asked what he was planning sitting there in D7 or whatever it was. When I did that he powered up and said something about making them pay....luckily he shutdown again in a lava flow and overheated/died...what a maroon

By the way, I was in a match where we were losing and were down to a single ECM Cicada with two ER Large, was the Comstar Uplink map, and that Cicada won the game. It took awhile, but on that occasion no one said "just give up, waaagggh!". Most of us watched.

i usually try to kill one or 2 damaged enemy mechs when im the last man standing.
that means i have to find ways and paths to get them isolated which can take time.
some people dont understand that.
for gods sake i got legged once in my huginn and should have chased enemy assaults... i simply waited shutdown at a junction for an opportunity but my position got called out altho it was assault-mode on terra therma.
even if the enemy knew my position it was still faster to cap than moving to me and kill me and thats what they done anyway BUT i even said that im legged in all chat and i cant keep up with them while beeing on the other side of the map.
i might have gotten a kill at all if some unwary enemy moved past me but people just act like bad losers just because they cant see the obvious and deny someone a kill they didnt get because of terrible teamplay.
no need to say that my team got stomped and it was all the huginns fault that had 2 solo kills eh?

As long as the "offending" player participated during a fight and dealt any form of damage to the enemy team, then he is not in breach of any rules. Staff members have already answered this in the past. Hiding if you are against an overwhelming opposition is a valid tactic and in the case of conquest can even mean a loss for the team with 10 mechs left if they are out-capped by the last opponent.
Try explaining that simple logic to guys with the intellect and maturity of an 8 year old spoiled brat....
...its a concept beyond their mental capacity.

Learn to read - I was explaining how I could miss your all-important demands typed in chat, not AFK or DC.
And again, you are assuming someone is AFK/DC simply because they don't want to talk to you.
Do you get that a lot? I bet you do.
"but maybe you could spend some time working on your computer so it's not infected with malware and update all your drivers?"
Oh yay! Even more ignorant assumptions. Its not malware, its the "warning - blocked" popup I get when my anti-malware program detects something. I have to minimize MWO to close the pop-up. Last PGI patch has fixed that. I'm also trying to configure & deconflict 3 diff controllers to see which one I want to go with permanently. So telling me to update my drivers is ignorant and useless advice.
Regardless of any of that, its not your place to "rule" on whether my lack of response to your demands in chat warrants calling out my position and committing Team Treason. Please get over yourself.

If you think someome is shutdown and hiding, for whatever reason, report them after the match ends.
Committing Team Treason during the match is against the rules.
You can't advocate following the rules while breaking said rules because you *assume* you know what the pilot is up to.

Shorter Joseph: I like to pretend the other guy is cheating so I can justify cheating.
That's NOT how it works.
