I'm seeing more and more of this in PUGs. I'm new, so my elo is likely keeping me grouped with new players, and here's the thing:

Your team is up 11-3 and the last guy standing is in light, he beelines for his base to mount a last stand. Futile? Yes. Waste of time? Yours but maybe not his - he may learn something.

But the amount of invective I see thrown at these players gets ridiculous. You want to move on to the next match, so do I. In fact, I usually do a suicide run in those instances, just to move things along. And yes, I get that you "know" the game is over, but he gets to play too. And as long as he isn't hiding or refusing to engage, its not your place to tell him how to pilot his mech. If it bothers you so much, go cap his base.

Just because you are caught up grinding doesn't mean he has to be too. Some of us prefer to play the game, not work it.

So lighten up. Francis :)

The other day I was playing Conquest and was capping positions (in my Jenner). Before I knew it, I was the last guy left.

I figured I'd keep capping till they caught me (we got rolled, so they had a lot of players to hunt with).

A team mate types "plz die" to me.

My response..."looks like you beat me to it"

He didn't respond.

Point is, who cares. Do your thing. I know it was a futile match, but I didn't play terrible and get rolled, I was doing the light thing and trying to secure us points.

In PUGlandia people are rude. Just do your best, do your thing, and if they have a problem with that they can always quit match.

When people start screaming at me, I just turn off the com link of my Pirate's Bane and focus on hunting the remaining enemies.

If you don't want to spectate the last light for ten minutes then don't die in the first five minutes.

I've been that last (legged) light just making it back to my base.

I've had the tirade of abuse from other (dead) pilots.

I've also laughed as the four remaining enemy chasing me got rekt by our turrets.

I completely agree that as long as the last mech is trying to do something, I will support him and not complain. A last stand at the base is totally valid. I've seen matches won by it.

What's not acceptable is finding an unreachable or hard to find position, then shutting down for the last 10 minutes. I've seen idiots in lights delay a CW match 15 minutes just by shutting down and hiding. It's pathetic. At least TRY to kill one enemy mech, or die trying. A good death is better than a bad survival.

Yah. I think the worst case I've seen was an 11-10 draw out. Light mech at half damage vs 2 heavies that were cored. Light pilot does a wide flanking maneuver. Its tedious to watch, but you could tell he was trying to string them out so he could fight them one at a time.

Then over all-chat a team mate says: he's at B4

Really uncool.

Big thing for me? If I am the last one left on my team, and you are dead....then disco. LEave. Go play another match. You're sitting round in cht is counter productive to you and me both, sparky, so get over yourself and your pro skills (that got you dead before me) and go drop in another match.

And don't whine to me that "you rmech is locked in the match".

Cause son, if you only own one mech, you got bigger issues.

The reason it's irritating is that when 1 person is left alive and he's making the game last forever, he's "playing his game" at the expense of as few as 11 other people (the dead people on his team) and as many as 23 other people (the 12 people on the other team too if they really don't want to go on an easter-mech-hunt).

Derp.

Sounds like a bigger derp.

Works both ways. It's not your game. So dragging out a match when so many more people probably want it over is a little selfish.

They are free to leave, and drop with another mech.

Tough.

Gonna keep saying it. If you are dead and don't want to watch the guy drag it out, exit the game, drop in another. Life goes on.

So when my team is up 8-4, its really selfish of you to drag out the match....? No? What about 10-2?

I don't understand what's keeping you from exiting to a new match. Can you explain?

pretty much this. especially in conquest mode a light that keeps on running can be a gem.
everyone that watches can do 2 things on themselves:
look at the map and help the lats remaining guy or just gtfo and play the next mech. theres no glue that prevents ppl from disconnecting that game and move along.
so just keep on running or fighting as long as you have the plan to stay active and not just waste time.

i dont care myself if im the last mech. i run around to look out for opportunities to still win a match even if looks lost.
while i can be a harsh person in a battle i simply try to make people better at the game by pointing out mistakes that happened.
alot of people dont like to get called out on team channel but how can you improve if you dont know what you done wrong? its nothing personal but constructive criticism in a raw manner that hopefully sticks inside a head.

Someone should have typed in all chat: No he is in E4. Then reamed that player out in team chat...

I pilot lights a lot and this can get annoying. You are off playing stabby stabby or capping points and all of a sudden you are the last one left. I try to strike a balance between dying fast and actually trying to do something. But sometimes you can turn it around and win. Those times it is really maddening that your team is yelling at you.

Dead players should not be allowed to communicate with live players, they especially should not be allowed to communicate with the enemy unless pgi rename MWO to 'MechPsychic Online' and give us all crystal balls and a pack of tarot cards for our cockpits.
