They did before, the heat penalty was never much of an issue for a 4N with quirks and like 20 dhs. The sluggishness and high face/burn time make it more of a face-wrecking support mech.

So... we gonna pull down the beam duration on the CERLL to around where it used to be, or also bump up the ghost heat threshold on it?

Only if they cap ghost heat on CERML to 4 so it matches the ghost heat-allowed damage output of 3 IS LL at 400m.

Seriously, we need to use 15 tons of large laser to match 4 tons of Clan ML.

I used to ran one with 6x LL but change to 4xLL with SRM after the heat penalty, firing in pair require too much face time for 6.

If that's the case why are clans large unaffected? Clans need some luv dude!!!

I love this, for ppl with ping of 300 close range or ppc engagements are very difficult. This at least restores for us a role on the battlefield and allows us to compete with good PPC snipers.
A note of caution though- Clans got love at creation true- but they then got nerfed before I could ever play them. With this change + Quirks + some favourable hardpoint placement on a few mechs I think some IS laser snipers will overpower their clan counterparts significantly.
However any removal/lessening of ghost heat mechanic is a + in my book. This mechanic (+ the grind before being able to customise a mech at all) has made recruiting new gamers difficult.

What about the clans?

I sense a common theme of neglection...

-Lack of hero mechs
-Lack of champion mechs
-Lack of quirks
-Extreme ghost heats (eg: Small pulse, medium pulse, small laser, medium laser. all have the same linked ghost heat)
-UAC 2 ghost heats on itself... making it a very hot weapon.

Yeah, they can be a bit fragile in that regard. That's why they are best played as a support mech.

you could drop GH complete if you would just limit the weapon configs. It also would be easy to balance and we would have the QQ of nerf this mech or quirk every month. Next up the firestarter, the med pulse laser thunder, and the all large pulselaser clan mech.

there is no reason to have a firestarter with 8 small pulse lasers. Its bad game play and shows the real fault of the mech lab. Fix that and there wont be a need for the insane amount of time spent on "weapon balance".

Hardly.

We had these sorts of issues even when we only had a couple mechs. There's always needed to be a lot of work with weapon balance.

Been using 3LPL/3ML on an AWS-9M for two days now. If anything, I don't feel like the limit of 3 is enough, though that's probably because the only mech I own with a LL/LPL buff is the RVN-2X which can't take three.

It's nice to be able to use a sensible loadout again instead of having to juggle three kinds of lasers at the same time to avoid an arbitrary penalty that was meant to punish good mechs but did more to hurt normal builds like this anyway. I've been seeing a fair number of 4LL/LPL Battlemasters and Thunderbolts, but they don't feel particularly potent.
