I think maybe founder's mechs are not what I expected.

I thought that founder's mechs in MWO would be analogous to premium tanks in WoT.

In WoT a premium tank is not better than another tank of it's tier. For example a T-14 is a tier 5 premium tank. It has good armor and an average gun. The mobility is average I guess. It is not by any means better than a non-premium fully upgraded tier 5 heavy tank. It is different though. It also gets a bous to credits received after a match.

Also, the people who "bought in" early with WoT got a special premium tank called the M6A2 something or other. It is not a great tank but you can not get them. Only the people who bought in early have them.

I thought the founder's mechs would be unique also. I did not think they would be better or more powerful but thought they would be something that only the people who were willing to invest early would get.

Do not misunderstand. I do not regret investing the 120 bucks and I am still very much looking forward to the game. Also, I did not want a mech that was an "I win" button or anything. I did not want anything that gave me an edge.

I wanted something that was unique in more ways than just a skin.

Everyone will be able to skin their mechs anyway according to the youtube video I saw so a unique skin is no reward at all really.

Oh well.

Still very much looking forward to it.

The founder's 'mechs have a slightly different model than their regular counterparts. Even with the mechlab's paintjob editor it won't be possible to recreate the look of a founder 'mech using a non-founder chassis.

It's not a huge difference, but it is there.

There isn't a XP bonus.

Well, there's the c-bill booster, although nobody knows if that will be available again down the line. And the 'skins' look more like alternate models to me...at least the beakie founder Catapult does.

As for being a variant unavailable to free players that goes against their design philosophy. They've repeatedly said that they want to avoid making anything that directly affects actual gameplay a cash-only item. Even if you SAY it didn't make a certain tank 'overpowered', it made it different. I don't want to have a great idea for a mech only to be told that the hardpoints I'd need are only available on something I could only have gotten if I'd spent $120 before the game came out. That's stupid.

On a related note, my god I'm sick of hearing about WoT. From how often it gets brought up here it's like that game's entire population is migrating over to MWO and they think this is a sequel to it or something.

Like the cockpit differences? The standard Atlas has the red "eyes", while the founder's has what appears to be one eye filled in with an electronics pod and the other eye as a deep Crimson.
The Hunchie has a crimson colored cockpit with no slit windows(unlike the mock-up one)
Jenner, again has a deep crimson cockpit, with different window work, as well as differentish legs.
Catapult has a longer nose and larger, and yes, crimson colored cockpit.

Oh so they do look different?

Good enough then. That is all I wanted really. Something more than a paint job.

What Telthalion Said...

I think Premium Tanks tend to have more disadvantages ive found, but never stopped me getting hold of a fair few and Kick butt with em lol

Think the main Advantage with the Founder Mechs will be Extra C-Bills, and having a Slightly different look compared to any one elses

The Founders' 'Mechs are only the stock variants, there would be no hardpoint changes.

They're exactly as they were advertised within the information provided, regardless of what anyone "thought" they were. Perhaps being sure you know something is preferable to thinking you know something, but I could be wrong about that.

Guys, I know about the c-bill bonus. It works the same in WoT. I like that and it is part of the reason I bought the founder's package.

I thought my post was pretty clear though.

I am not really complaining, I just thought there would be something special for the founders. I am certain "premium mechs" or whatever they choose to call them will be for sale after release to whoever wants one. I think that is how it should be.

I also thought that peope who invested early would get something a little special. The c-bill modifier will be available to everyone.

Again, this post was a comment not a complaint.

I believe the c-bill bonus is unique to founders
