I haven't played them yet, but dear god the models and skins are beautiful. I hope PGI can bring the old mechs up to par.

Very pleased.

At first I thought the Panther piloted like a real pig. I still think it does but it can be managed. Had some real fun games with the Panther. Little guy packs a punch when yu move away from the stock setups.

The Enforcer is also potent. Not as fast and easy to pilot as the Vindi, but the usable ballistic hard points give it a wallop. Especially the LB-10X prime chassis. The dual UAC 5 is going to be tricky and the XLs hurt the survivability, but I had a fun time piloting these mechs so far.

So, after patching I fiddled around with builds some... 2 of my Panthers were ready to go, one of my Enforcers. The others need a few upgrades and engines, but those will come in time (I am loathe to swap engines around). Took the ones that were up and running into the Testing Grounds, and I didn't like how hot my PNT-10K ran with ERPPC&2xSRM4, so I cut one of the 4-packs down to a 2. Took it out for a spin, Crimson Straight on Assault, spawned on the side farther from the overhang/garage/bay/whaetever-you-call-it. Moved up to the urban area near the water and took a few cheap shots on enemies on the platform and such (especially a K2 and a Highlander). After we started getting capture warnings I RTB'd. A friendly Ice Ferret was engaging an enemy Enforcer and a Thunderbolt. He had torn off one of the Enforcer's arms and opened up his side torso, and I lucked out and landed the kill shot. Then we double teamed the Thunderbolt, we ended up ripping both his arms and one of his side torsos off, and this time I felt I earned my kill shot. Overall, 2 kills, 3 assists, 315 damage. http://mwo.smurfy-ne...6e2a71561fc6bba

I don't think the Panther-10K is the way to go. Too hot to run dual ER-PPCs, so you either fire 1 at range (not enough damage) or get close (why aren't you running a Firestarter).

The 9R can do the Vindicator-esque dual PPC build, so it should at least be a usable jump sniper. Jump sniping with nerfed PPCs isn't easy (not even with +40% velocity) and the minimum range will bite you. But you can have good games with it if you practice.

The one that really intrigues me, though, is the 8Z. Triple Large Laser with ER-L range, -25% duration, and good heat seems like the core of a genuinely useful ranged skirmisher. You lose the ECM and high mounts of the Raven 3L, but you gain jump jets and considerably higher damage output.

In the grim darkness of 3050 there are only Panthers.

I've died a total of once in these mechs across my 10 or so games, 8-9 of which were wins. It is by far my most effective and most survivable mech of all 64 I own-- alas, the LBX one even puts my Centurions and Hunchbacks to shame!

I'm finding my Enforcer to be rather durable. Good hitboxes perhaps? I like the lbx 10 and 3 MPLs in the 5D.

That is exactly the build I was going to do. :P

They get a big huge "meh" from me. Until I can solo a far below average dire wolf pilot in a panther or enforcer like I can in my Adder, they're just massive paperweights.

At least the clans and IS are finally balanced. IS can do slow light mechs now too!

The panther is a sweet beast with 2xMPL 2xSRM and a max engine, I've been scoring pretty high with it :)

The enforcer is good, especially like the asymmetric std engine laser vomit build on the 4R, the Dragon Slayer Junior on the 5P which also has a nice XL version and the Gaussvom on the 5D.

Gaussvomit is good on the 4R too, I feel it is really the strongest variant by far. 5P seems to be the weakest, it can't really handle the 2 UAC5 well within it's weight and other options are very limited.

I'm really trying to like the Panther. REALLY trying hard. It's lack of available hardpoints, speed and tonnage are not helping.

Edit:

Okay, I think I'm nearly about to call it DOA. There is a mech in the game that does every task it can, only better.

This is the IS version of the Mist Lynx. It's a lost cause. 8(

PNT 8z - 3 LL 90 kph 2 jj 3DHS Both LL mods and radar derp = 600 damage game third time out.

It's pretty awesome at doing a side jump arm poke at range. It definitely is at home on the canyon. It'll be a beast once mastered.

I can believe that about the ERPPC even with heat quirks, but the 3xLL? I used to run that on my Cicada, and with the ghost heat for LL increased to 3 and a built-in 25% reduction I would have thought 3xLL would be cool runnings.

tonnage really limits you on the 3 LL. Slow.

Every time I see Panthers with their PPC arm blown off, they just look so sad and confused. They're like "Well, what do I do now? Where do I go? Why is my arm on the ground like that? I guess.... I guess I'll bring it with me."
