Its been used in at least half the games Ive played.

Plus nothing is stopping YOU from using it. If youre not using it youre just contributing to the problem.

The reason I know it is hardly used is because I sent our sonar pings in the beginning of every match..
(And regardless of lack of response, I still try and warn people of big problems such as flanks and enemy bulk locations.)

Still doesn't matter.. pubs still do their own damned thing.

It would help if the sound quality wasnt from early 2000's voiceprograms. Seriously PGI you need to up the soundquality or just remove it because you can barely hear what anyone is saying.

but at least its using bandwidth, ammirite? :D

Built in voice comms should have been in from the start. Without it you have to choose between reacting to the lance you just saw on seismic about to come out from cover or standing still and getting wrecked while you type out a warning to your pug team that they might not see in time anyway.

I IMMEDIATELY disabled it.
15 years of online gaming...each year it gets worse.
If one game in 10 actually benefits from the bandwidth suck VOIP provides, its not nearly enough.
thats 10% benefit? pffft.

Every time I "try" comms (as of a year ago in two other games) too many children, too many mumblers, over modulated, under modulated, asking about what mech is best, rage cursing, too many wanna be comdians, arm chair generals and lastly, the I was good, you guys all suck cause you didn't do "X".

I LOVE bragging on PGI, read my posts!-
-why on earth they wasted time, resources and energy on adding VOIP when it was not needed, wont be used where there are SO many things that still need fixed............ is simply beyond me.

The lack of VOIP is what made you lose interest in the first place?

One of the things, yes. I like communicating during a match, I just don't find typing to be the optimal way to do that in a match. I like voice comms, but I don't particularly like searching out a team on one of the pugstar servers, because it means I'd be committing to multiple games with no break in between.

I like to drop in matches, then take a couple of minute break afterwards. Sometimes I only do one match and log off. Having real communications during those matches is important to me.

^ you should run with a clan then.
The most fun I had in the game was a year/two years ago when about 10-15 of us played routinely.
the changes............the lack of changes.......its down to me and one, sometimes two others....
Same here, log in, battle once or twice, log off vs. 3 hours on friday nights a year ago.
I check the forums, get the patches, and hope for longevity, and new player base.

Sometimes they do. Sometimes they respond to and benefit from direction. Talking in absolutes doesn't help your case much.

I'm just curious how a feature that no one is using is supposedly causing so my lag and drops in frame rate.

It hammers my hit reg quite badly when I have it on. I have to choose wether to hear the hopefully useful things the pugs in our cw drop have to say and not know if I'm going to be able to damage the guy in front of me, or be able to hurt my opponent but potentially miss out on something useful in the meantime?
Catch 22 situation.
But hey, the solo guys are happy! So nothing else matters right?

At least 100 matches this weekend. NONE of them had any children and matches averaged 2 people using comm per match.
Huge benefit to PUG play.

I don't believe you or the OP. Both of you fought tooth and nail against its introduction. Your bias is showing.

People dont use it often, but in my experience, when they do we usually win.

Give it time.
