ZEN MECH TRAINING SKEWL: by STRAFERX
I strongly support the following:
Hardcore mode ~ no mods no quirks
Modding ~ community fabricated maps, game modes and established retooled mechs and personally modded UI as well as free candy corn for everyone.
P.S. Each mech sent to my school will come home with a unique one time only custom Hood Ornament only available through our shop and all warhorns will be increased +25Db and externally mounted.

All joking aside, they do take more skill to use right, then just about any other mech in the game, I also highly recommend them, as good training mechs for piloting, they teach you how not to get hit. Right along with Dragons, that teach you how to avoid damage as well, and well Cents for teaching you how to roll damage like a boss.
I am saving that for use in the new player recommendations!

all in good time sir!

Sometimes my Toddler sits in my lap when I play MWO, if you see me in a Summoner, then my Toddler is with me, he freaking loves those... Must be something to do with his name...
"Dis one Daaaa! Dis one!" he'll scream at the mech lab screen, when ever he sees it, pointing at the Summoner Prime...
Ahh well he's almost 2, and it's worth 5 min of pain to see him smile.

Tell me about it, sicne the first time I held him in the hospital after he was born, I knew there wasn't anything I wouldn't try and do for him.
He's made me a stronger and tougher man for it.... though my knees dissagree with that statement.

you can still play them now. You still have a net gain of bonuses here.
Do what you want! Take some pride in yourself and have some faith in your abilities!
Sure, but why is PGI (effectively) discouraging underplayed mechs/configs? And what happens to player engagement when they spend a lot of time/money on certain mechs or things like range/cooldown boosters and then have all that stuff arbitrarily become useless? I'm fairly sure PGI isn't going to give me a refund or let me trade in my pulse laser equipment for large laser stuff.
There's a mode in League of Legends called ARAM, in which you don't pick your character, it's chosen randomly by the computer. And that's fine (ARAM is considered a casual beer and pretzels mode, not seriously competitive). But for a game like MWO, where it takes so much time and effort to get all your gear lined up in a row (ugh, buying three Battlemasters just to finish skilling up one of them, etc), I'd prefer a bit more stability (especially given all the other issues PGI could fairly be concentrating on. Out of Match UI remains horrible, we need more maps, we need better gameplay modes, we need lots of bugs squashed, VOIP took forever and come out the gate with quality issues, etc etc). I'd think PGI had much bigger fish to fry than killing Thunderbolts and Blackjacks.

If you are implying you named your kid Summoner Prime, then you have won the internet today.

I think you're missing the point.
Yes, online games change constantly and that's to be expected.
However, over-buffing a Mech with a quirk that everyone and their dog says is overpowered, then letting that stand for a few weeks and claiming that nah brah, it's fine, we're keeping it this way, then turning around and admitting that - GASP! - no really everyone's dogs were right it's overpowered, and then changing it to something completely different now that people have already bought the Mechs isn't just "normal change for an online game."
That's bait and switch. PGI is perilously close to, if not already over, that line.
The problem comes from quirks that aren't actually appropriate for a particular chassis/variant. Those are the ones that they later have to go back and radically alter. If it were my job, I could easily go through the quirks and tell you which ones are out of character for a given chassis/variant so that the "... and switch" part wouldn't be necessary. If the quirks assigned to a particular chassis/variant were appropriate from the start, simple tuning would allow them to be brought into balance.
TL;DR Tuning is fine; bait and switch is not.

Life is hard enough without gettin bullied in school over a name like that.
Well from what I've seen him do so far, I think that would happen once, then he'd knock the other kid out... He's 3 feet tall (35.5" to be right on the money), and almost 35lb. When a new 4L jug of milk comes in the house, the first place I look for it is in his hands as he is walking away with it.

PRICELESS
While I'm not a fan of building min-max "meta of the week" nonsense (heck, I pilot Awesomes, so how serious can I be?), randomly changing quirks all over the place hoses far more people than just the ones piling up ERPPC's on their Thuds. The new quirks also seem to have done a decent job kicking some 2nd-tier mechs back into the trash can, which is not an achievement. Just some points to keep in mind.

This is also from the same company that held a big weapon module sale a week or so before changing many quirks... thus resulting in plenty of people spending piles of cbills on weapon modules that no longer interact as expected with their mechs. Tweaking quirks is one thing, but changing them completely is close to "bait and switch."

If you ever wonder why some of my mechs troll around in very girly colors, it's because my daughters usually select the color patterns for all my mechs. haha

My three year old yelled very proudly from the back seat of he minivan the other day, " I'm Spider Mech Man!" Spiders are his favorite mechs and the 'mandos too (might take after his father). And I guess he was watching his siblings play Spider-Man on the Xbox and in his mind they all fit together nicely
