It was more doable after doing group drops with friends as it helped lower the amount of saltiness quite a bit.
But I still didn't enjoy how much saltiness there was in the first place from this event.

I just want to say that this type of events I consider "feel bad" events. Normally, when you win a match, you're happy. When you get kills, you can be happy even iff you lose, at least you got something done. In these events, everything except getting the kill and win is a failure, and feels bad. Making players feel bad more when they are playing makes playing the game feel bad.
Most of the guys in my unit feel that they need a break from the game after these events, not because getting the prize would be too hard, but because this thing emphasizes failure, makes you concentrate on what didn't go perfectly, why you don't get any points for a match - even when your contribution in that was remarkable.
Please stop using this mechanic in events. It's not fun.

Honestly I don't think the Devs or PGI staff give a dam about new players or casual players in MWO!!!!!!!!!!!
As long as the small manority keep feeding them $USD it will never change for new or casual players in the game or challenges.
wow. just wow.
you still dont get how PGI makes money right? you should be fkin happy that you can play for free because of that *small minority*
i have no damn sympathy for ungrateful disrespecting people like you. this aint a event for casuals.
this aint a event for new players.
it gives you free stuff you normally would have to buy
it is a event for the people that dedicate time and money into this game to grab something free.
the people that keep this game alive.
CASUALS WONT DO THIS! they WILL NOT keep this going.
PGI does NOT have to do this. yet they do it.
WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU COMPLAINING ABOUT!
the worst about this event is that the players get complete scared and coward ONCE AGAIN hesitating to move after all.
its not even the scoring mechanic.
i just struggle to understand why the hell people cant learn from their mistakes.
sadly the last battle i just had included everything that goes wrong with alot of players. atlas d-dc camping, getting outmoved because of that. ECM lights camp at the rear sniping along. no UAV dropping from non ecm lights or spotting.
3 heavies (including me) trying to move but got lrm spammed back into cover because ECM CAMPED!
and that happens at events even more than without. voip? listening to commands? doesnt happen.
THAT's what these events making so bloody terrible.
edit: sorry for the damn rant but it has to be.

Friend many of us have poured in thousands of $USD to keep MWO afloat and PGI/DEVS run off more new players than we can save to help provide revenue to keep the game going. If it is not the devs making these bad decisions on the challenges and game maybe those in charge need to be fired and more intelligent personnel need to be found to run the game.
First off 80% of all challenges MWO does new players cannot complete and 60% of casuals cannot complete which means why should they invest in a game they don't get the special rewards from? A more intelligent way to do all these challenges would be by assists or damage for requirements then up to 90% of all MWO players would get the rewards.
Then once they felt good about there new mech they would probably by some cameo patterns or cockpit items to outfit there mechs. Its the same thing with all PGI MC prices there 50% to high to start with soi they sell less and players buy less bling per mech because the costs are so high.
I could go on about many things to help MWO survive and be very profitable after running multi million dollar retail stores for 20 years but they would not listen anyways and I would have to put up with un-intelligent trolls like yourself.
Good day sir.

This guy nails it...
The problem isn't the challenge itself, so much as, how people somehow seem to go batcrap insane and play DURING the challenges, and unfortunately, I believe the root cause is the scoring format.
I've seen a handful of proposals, that all seem like they might work, and hold out hope that one day we see one or two of them implemented.
Myself, I think the win condition needs to stay, as why should you get a point if you don't win, and we should encourage winning. I would alter the kill + assist format though, perhaps to 4+ (or maybe even as many as 6+?) kills/assists in any combination, to encourage people to actively engage the enemy during the win. I want to know that a player didn't just park in the back and do nothing while everyone else fought.
I've seen other formats that seemed promising also, and I think changing the scoring format could make the game much more fun to play, both for those who want to grind the challenge, as well as those who simply want to play MWO and have fun.
Please?
How about a Damage/Weight Handicap condition?
...or win with X more players alive condition?

Although i must thank them for at least giving the community something challenging to compete for in this game, and all the freebies as rewards... but theres something PGI needs to understand once and for all:
First of all, the challenge is personal, everybody will be working for each self to achieve their rewards, so everybody will compete for kills and assists. And although this might sound like a good plan, instead this means that they are no longer considering the enemy the major threat since they are all fighting against their own team too... and im not saying this lightly, this means that it will bring the worse of each one for it... and that is very far from being "fun"...
Secondly, although the kills and assists are doable, the win part is purely luck based thanks to the matchmaking system... A challenge is no longer a challenge if one is based on luck. - Its just a damn raffle! And to repeat that several times to get rewarded, making it even more stressing than it was, it turns into a grindy raffle... and that, PGI, its NOT FUN! You got it now?
Seriously... You did well before, remember the point system you made in previous challenges? The one that had its formula based on battle performance rather than matchmaking luck? Remember all that positive feedback it got?... So why are you keep making this same mistake?
...and this was my rant/constructive criticism/whinning whatever you wanna call it... im gonna get back to that horrible grind untill i pop a blood vessel in rage and end up team killing someone on purpose...

PGI - this literally cost you money from me last time you ran this event. It is that frustrating. I dialed back my planned purchases by $50 last time, haven't decided how this will affect my future purchases with a second run. Your move.

I might log back in on last day of the challenge when play begins to return to normal.

got my 3 days pretty quick.
Had so many idiotic teams, and many more GREAT teams. Mostly ran the Dire.
Just polished off the 25. Now to run the Raven, which I haven't operated in...well over a year.
So, thanks PGI and all the good teams I had tonight.

Have had several matches today where we had great teamwork, good kill-sharing, were near the end with a 10 or 11 to 1 or 2 lead, talk as a team to see who needs a kill, then some guy with 2-3 kills already will charge in and take the kill just to spite the guys who missed theirs..
It's already a frustrating event, then when you add in people intentionally trolling the participants and trying to make it take longer, it just adds another level of stress and disgust...
I don't know if it's players lashing out at PGI for the scoring metric, or just trolls being trolls, but it's disappointing either way.

And yeah some people can be annoying, I‘m also guilty of it myself.....sometimes I just can't control my itchy trigger fingers
Oh and ofcourse these events are not very fair for people that have an active social/family life.

On the other side, 12 assists, 1100+damage, and a win, but no kills.
Sorta silly really...

Requiring a win means relying on factors out of our control, which causes frustration.
Not to mention the poor player behaviour as they seek to achieve their kill to secure the point.
I am so tired of these "events" I would rather not have the freebies, to not waste a weekend putting up with the poor quality matches.
I'm out until its over,
PS your "140 points to qualify for the point" was a much better system than this.
