I just cannot express how frustrated, angry and disappointed I am trying to grind out this totally miserable experience of a challenge... again (the first one was painful). I actually managed to win 7 of my first 8 matches... and never got a kill. Then I started getting kills, but lost 6 matches in a row. I have 18 matches in now, 4 points. Gonna be a long weekend.

I think what I find most exasperating is that I'm playing a game to have FUN, but these kinda challenges just make me wanna yell, scream, and punch the monitor. Bah.

seriously PGI every one but the no lifers have been complaining about your challenges don you think its time to rethink this challenges scoring system sick of playing matches where I am contributing to the team but I don't get points just because I didn't get a kill but I did over 90% of the damage to my target only to have a light take he kill with one just one little MG.

In the last hour I had five "assist most damage dealt" taken by LRM boats hiding at spawn. I'm just going to stop targeting people. That should improve gameplay...for me at least.

If you get at least one kill you don't win.
If you win you don't get any kills.
If you get at least one kill you don't win.
If you win you don't get any kills.
If you get at least one kill you don't win.
If you win you don't get any kills.
If you get at least one kill you don't win.
If you win you don't get any kills.
If you get at least one kill you don't win.
If you win you don't get any kills.
If you get at least one kill you don't win.
If you win you don't get any kills.
If you get at least one kill you don't win.
If you win you don't get any kills.
If you get at least one kill you don't win.
If you win you don't get any kills.
.
.
.
Repeat for three literally pointless hours: well it's nice I made the 1.500 gxp for the six kills in a match achievement.

Watched somebody with almost full LRMs tag an enemy but not shoot at them. He already got a kill and the guy the enemy was shooting at died, costing us the win. In this guys lame attempt to get an assist he cost everyone a point.

3 points easy. Not interested in any other tiers. PGI, you should really look into making broader rewards, instead of insane grinds for stuff many of us don't even want or care for. I really don't care about the Premium Time, even.

Keeping the kill and win condition was a mistake I would of thought you'd of learned from last time.

Why would they learn? I mean if on conquest the win is gained by capping and there is nothing to gain individually by capping, whats the point in contest mode?

Everyone raving about kills and assists seems to miss the point that the primary objective is to win the match. Kills and assists don't mean diddly if your team doesn't win. I'm still relatively new to the game, but I don't seem to be playing with the same people I was playing with on Thursday before the event. Play the group tactics, don't chase the "bait" mech back to his waiting friends, the basics. I've been through only two of these win + kill + assist events but it seems people strip their brains out of their mech in favor of another ton of ammo or lasers.

Check your stats outside events like this. I think if more people played like they did during the rest of the week, there wouldn't be complaints about how many points you need to collect. Last Thursday I would have scored 5 points out of 8 games. Tonight I got 2 points out of 14 games. Play style seems to have gone down hill.

I can't keep 5 people from chasing a stripped enemy mech across the map all trying to get "their kill". I applaud the devs for events like this as they add to the game. I am however disappointed in the devs and the players for the inspired behavior created by some of these events. I'll still play the game for fun of it but personally . . . I can't wait for this event to end.

Woot!
I just finished obtaining the 25 points necessary to receive the Raven. It took me 39 matches in my BNC-3S and 6 matches in my AS7-D-DC (all in the public queue). :D Now I have to spend the rest of my weekend doing productive things... yay.... :(

Edit: I noticed that many people play very aggressively and impatiently during these events - probably because they're worried about fulfilling the kill requirement. I would advise everybody to just play normally. If your enemies are going to be impatient and stretch themselves out in order to attack you, then take advantage of that. I found myself doing much better than I normally do because people kept on making silly mistakes.

Seconding this.

Kills and assists come with time - wins take effort.

...and winning don't mean diddly without kills and assists. This is why I do not bother with this Challenge. No matter how well you fight, no matter how great your win... "No kills? **** you!"

Terrible points collection conditions.
Playing on med/light:
13 drops - 0 points... if I got kill - command will lose...
Mixing kills and wins - it's a bad idea...

UPDATE: The hot-fix is out, and includes a server fix for the connection issues that were occurring this morning.

The server fix requires that we temporarily disable VoIP functionality while we diagnose an issue with the TeamSpeak 3 SDK. We will provide more information on when VoIP functionality will be restored as soon as possible.

Services have been restored. Upon launching the client you will be required to install a small patch.

The Like a Champion MARK II event will be extended by a full 24 hours.

I still didn't see any time extension yet. But judging from the Forum comments, I think nobody really wants to join the tourny anyway?

This community, is with all respect in my opinion the worst community regarding tournaments and or events. It's ridiculous.

I think i will take temporary break regarding any event running. Untill it's over. The ruletset and requirements is not helping either.

you know what it really could be a cool reward for skilled players but sadly it really isn't having to rely on terrribad players to get a win after you carry a team
when yo do 1 or several kills 10 to 12 assists and the avrage player on you're team barely squeeks out 150 dmg... yea its just awfull

It's not even what the challenge requires that grates at my nerves. It's what the requirements do to players that irritates the hell out of me.

Almost every match tonight...if I play anything non-LRM, I get shot in the back by anyone standing behind me trying to get the kills. If I stand behind them, line of fire is clogged by everyone trying to get in and get the kills. It's just awful.

50 points, sure, fine, but please, for the love of Blake...re-evaluate the scoring format? Something that, I don't know, encourages people to work together somehow, rather than act like a pack of tight-fisted old grannies at a Walmart clearance sale.
