I kept reading the word Granite and I wondering WTF ? What do rocks have to do with PCs.

Now I am seeing the pictures...
WTF !!

First time I am see such a setup. The other one was remotely close was some russian guy that built his PC into his desktop table.

I am running the leak test right now with PSU plugged into another mother board, nothing but Led's powered to the board. So far.... no leaks. :D

As for the the results....not yet Wired, still got a bit to do before I am done with it. Two more days tops, and then it will be finished and ready to see what she can do.

As for the granite and what does it have to do with PC's....well, this is how I roll man. :P This is the second case I have done by hand with granite, and a third one that is lined with granite and in wall. First one was around 5 years ago and it looks like a Mountain mods UFO case. Its really too big for my new house I just built, and I am going with wall mount and in wall cases to save space and to keep things nice and clean. Its too bad, its a great case and has the best air flow I have ever seen in a case, or worked with.

I still have to finish up the case sides with pine, and do some serious wire management, then attach the extra heavy duty mounting bracket so this thing doesn't fall on my Ben-Q... I am really liking the way this came out so far

So far temps are about 12-18C cooler on both the Cpu and the 7970. Moving the card off the mother board does help big time, haven't seen over 56C yet on the card with playing a couple games tonight. CPU hasn't seen over 40C yet while playing. Ha.. Time to O.C...? Time to get a shower and reinstall windows 7 on my Samsung SSD, this Seagate 1.5 tb drive is needing to be used for just storage.

So far I am loving this Case.... I thought I could lift it up 6' on the wall when I first started building it, and I can, but it is rather heavy to be lifting that high. I had my ex's son help me out and it was still a challenge. I am guessing it weighs around 75 pounds. I guess I won't have to worry about security measures with this one, they might be able to lift it...but it will slow them down for sure!

Gonna hop in the shower and then maybe play a few games. Tomorrow is a new day, and I am snowed in here for at least several days. We just got 6 more inch's, so I should have plenty of time to play around with this rig over the next week. Next one I build will have the carbon fiber material instead of Granite, I am guessing it will be much lighter then this one.

I was actually thinking about a carbon fiber open air case, but I couldn't find anything to my liking that anybody had made and I'm guessing carbon fiber in shapes other than "car hood" or "flat panel" is a pretty custom venture. It would definitely be lighter, though! Told ya, temps under water will be great. Push it a little bit and see where it goes :)

Yeah, I am sure a real carbon fiber wall case would be very nice, and most likely expensive. I was looking at the 3m carbon fiber and thinking it will do the trick. I pretty much knew the loop I put together would put out very nice temps... but I was kinda thinking in the back of my head, it better put out nice temps!

Well if you get started on your case.... I want to see pics of it man, I always love looking at others work and progress. I am gonna play a couple of games and then start the process of doing a clean install of Windows 7 and partition off 1 TB for storage on the seagate and make another 250 gb partition for Windows 10 and a 250gb partition for Linux Mint. Most likely get all that done by tomorrow and start tweaking the rig once I do.

Here are some runs from tonight, only two I have played since....well,

Hey guys... so far I am at 4.7ghz at 1.28 volts and from what I can tell stable. Here is a screen snip with MWO running in the back ground. Temps look good, staying in the 30's and while gaming hardly pushing 45C even with the OC.

I have had some kinda weird things happen though. I didn't do a clean install of Windows 7 yet, I instead fired up my samsung SSD from the FX-8350 build and let Windows 7 do its thing and reconfigure for the new chip set from Intel. Once I could log in, I deleted and uninstalled any drivers from the old mother board. I then installed the new drivers for the G1 gaming board. I had to reactivate with microsoft, but that is pretty much it. I reran windows score test and my Samsung and ram both scored a 7.9 with the FX build. I am not seeing 7.5 on the Samsung SSD, and still 7.8 with the ram. I know Windows scoring is not what one should base anything on... but WTF? Anyone have any ideas as to why my SSD drive would drop like this?

Here is the first bench with the OC.

Honestly, I'm super wary of anything Windows does to compensate for a completely different chipset coming into the picture. I'm also not too keen on Gigabyte motherboards (not particularly happy with mine, but it's doing the job for now). I'd check to see if the SSD is connected to a weird SATA port. By weird, I mean I'm pretty sure Gigabyte did something strange with them and certain ones may perform better than others due to any number of truly twisted reasons (on mine I believe there are two separate SATA controllers, probably the same for yours, and one probably does better than the other).

As far as the GPU goes, I remember you had higher highs before... there is a setting in the BIOS that controls the PCIE version and speed, that could be something worth checking. Honestly, I'd go through every single BIOS option and really take a hard look at how it's configured, as well as anything physically present on the mobo that could be a switch, and the entire manual. There's something awry.

But also maybe OS reinstall because gremlins.

Normally I wouldn't bother doing something like that, but it was really easy and way faster then doing the clean install. I figured it couldn't hurt to try it out and see what happened. Yes, I also remember my highs being a bit higher sometimes with fraps bench, not sure whats up with that either. No switches that I can see on the motherboard, and the bios is rather....Idk, kinda messed up with the mouse not being very accurate in HD mode, Plus there are so many settings in it, OMG! lol.

I think I am gonna bite the bullet and do a clean install and see if that helps out with everything. I thought about cloning my other install from the Seagate 1.5tb drive, since it was a clean install with Samsungs software that came with the drive. Not sure how well it works, or if it will be the same results of Letting Windows do its thing.

I do know one thing for sure, my ram settings are a bit different then they was on my FX build. Having a hard time getting them just right on this build. I think I need to go ahead and order some G. Skill tridents or even some Corsair Vengeance ram, the 16 gb 1866 2x8gb kit is on sale right now for $130 on the egg.

Is it possible you had settings in CCC before that were padding the GPU numbers, lower image quality settings somewhere that were lower than what they are currently set to?

No, Everything is set the same in CCC, I don't believe that is the issue.

Samsung Software was a no go, got a error after it ran to 100%. Seagate Discwizard was also a no go. I used Macrium reflect and the clone worked. Windows 7 scores are all 7.9 now except the I7 CPU, its still at 7.8 @4.7Ghz.

First and only game with everything up and running with the SSD for tonight/morning. Going to bed! :D

I believe this will be my next purchase and the final touch pretty much for the wall case.
